If you are a new to code pleb,
I would think your goal is to be contributing to as many FOSS projects as possible to get experience. I have tons of low hanging fruit for people get the badges and green streaks they want on github. But often its met with silence after SO much enthusiasm of wanting to contribute.
What is the hang up and why is it so hard for people to get started?

There are a ton of good first issues in https://plebnet.dev discord. If you don't want to join discord, that's okay. We have regular bi-weekly meetups on https://hivetalk.org every other wed night, check the plebnet event list. Btw, both of the above projects also have good first issues already available on any of the multiple org repositories. If you have any additional q's, my DMs are open 🧡
puzzles and noshole made that turdsoup app with not much help and a lotta AI.
did you hear about the law firm that fired most of its juniors and replaced with chatgpt? crazy.
@NotBiebs if it took this dude with AI < 4 hrs to code that with zero experience, how fast does it take us experienced devs + AI, maybe < 1 hr LOL
enterprise backend dev told me the other day AI cut his time down from many months to a few weeks. we are totes in a new era
its worse.
when it happens repeatedly, I say, "Hey's cool if you have an idea, but here's my calendar, book a slot and pay me for the time to consult on your great idea. "
Don't do it for free anymore, your time is worth too much for stupidity.
unrelated, but curious to know if you've experienced people trying to impersonate you as Derek Ross or if these other accounts with your avatar are just dead ones?
Did not realize how bad the situation was. I should probly put the frontend fluff aside soon and get my hands back into C++ strfry to have a look.
👀 cc: @cloud fodder
Understand where you are comijg from. I think for me at least i need to try to understand how strfry works at the core to have a better view
Of where i can be helpful to the network
Yup, really. Will never take Grant money. Because that is not how I roll.
everyone has their own motivations.
Not everyone has the same kind of skill.
I am not "just a dev"
Opensats is a good option for people who need it. But it does mean KYC and the IRS has a honeypot of all the devs.
Which isn't good, but not everyone knows how to bootstrap or run their own business, and infrastructure can't be easily monetized. IMO, grant research money should be reserved for deep research such as frontiers in cryptography, not your next cute level app.
Society in general has a crisis of over specialization and not enough "wears many hats", (individuals with multiple skill sets), a trait that comes with the territory of running self sovereign businesses.
Majority of population is silo'd into 1 track work as employee for corporation mindset. Sad.
TS 1989 and HK 2019.
Two cases in recent history everyone should be aware of. People in China, they know. Eventually it will be 1949 all over again, just a matter of time. What isn't widely publicized are the thousands of riots and protests inside china every year. its hidden from the west, because the ccp controls the media.
The truth is most of HK knows about TS 1989. CCP bailed on their promise to 1 country 2 systems as agreed to for HK after the 1997 handover from the Brits and decided to cut off legal freedoms in free speech, internet and media in HK that isn't available on the mainland
People on the mainland side in Shenzhen, they know what the govt did to people in HK in 2019, and they think its terrible but can't do anything about it.
The whole story is more complicated than what is told to the media in the west.
Btw, fun fact, Radio Free Asia is a CIA outfit. HK was swarming with MI6 and CIA heavily afaik before 2019 and the 2020 NSL clamp down. now HK is just an ordinary Chinese city without the same freedoms. That's also why most western businesses have moved out of the city driving the economies into the toilet. Stupidity of a authoritarian ruling class that is the CCP.

i'm willing to bet, if the 4th turning is on target, we'll have another 1949 style major over haul within the next 5 years (or sooner) because the eco situation is really shitty
its been 75 years, ~ 80 years is the end of the cycle.
Well it depends on what Geo location you are in. If you mean US markets, its gonna be slow molasses
Take a look at places like South Africa instead, where their fiat is super weak and keeps getting weaker and not much banking infra.
