Whether or not RFK, Jr. is confirmed as Secretary of Health and Human Services, I suggest you continue to avail your family of vaccines. This recommendation is based on my personal experience. You see, I caught the measles at age 24 and honestly feel like it nearly killed me: Fever, double-vision, and exhaustion were my symptoms for a couple weeks. For months after, I was short of breath after mild exertion and was left with a permanent heart arrhythmia. Long measles, perhaps. I caught the measles while serving as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in Africa. I told my mother about it in a letter home and she responded that she was always unsure about whether I had gotten the measles vaccine. I guess that I did not.

I allow myself one high-quality beer a day, though I often skip it. I do not bother to drink low-quality beer. Right now, I am enjoying an occasional Alpine Nelson--that is what I have in my refrigerator. Generally, I prefer an IPA to any other style of beer. Rarely, less than once a month, do I drink more than one beer in a day and even then it is only two. My conundrum is whether to have my one beer now or wait until March Madness this evening. I will probably wait for March Madness.

For the first time, I know someone (i.e., a social media friend) who has lost am immediate family member (i.e., spouse) to a senseless and seemingly random shooting. To the U.S. politicians who support unfettered access to guns, I am here to declare the blood of so many victims is on your feckless hands.
When I work on do-it-yourself projects that require abrasive manual (i.e., hand) labor like woodworking and gardening, my fingerprints get temporarily messed up so the thumbprint recognition on my ancient iPhone and the fingerprint recognition on my less ancient MacBook do not work for about a day. Such is the case now after working on a flooring repair.
@c531994e I hope you’ll share your location with someone in case you need help. Consider texting your symptoms to a family member or friend and have them check with a physician.
@f42fdd5b Thanks. The fact that my daughter has schizophrenia makes matters complicated. Is her gender dysphoria related to her ongoing delusions? If yes or unknown, is my daughter even eligible for gender-affirming care? If not, will she freak out if told she is ineligible. What kind of mood will my daughter bring into the appointment? Will the physician read my note about her mental illness before the appointment and be tactful in her interactions with my daughter? Will the physician remain calm if my daughter happens to be in a bad mood? Is there another physician who would be a good match for my daughter in the future?
I am feeling grateful on this #ThankfulThursday for my diverse life experiences, including the good and the bad: The good includes time spent with friends and learning new ways of thinking about issues, such as recognizing the inherent value of life in all its diverse forms. The bad includes witnessing human vices and the experiential knowledge that lima beans and sauerkraut are really disgusting. I am also thankful for my love of lifelong learning and critical thinking as instilled by great teachers. 😂

It's certainly a striking photo. Maybe an extremely hot fire due to duff buildup as a result of fire suppression for many years? This may be followed by topsoil loss from erosion when it rains.
