Thanks for a reasonable and nuanced take as always Derek. 🫂💜
To answer your question, Primal users can choose whether they want to see NSFW content in their feeds and/or in the trending side bar. The default is that NSFW content shows in the feeds, but not in the trending side bar. This is an easy setting for users to flip.
We are working on a more sophisticated solution where NSFW content will be categorized on a per-note bases (not per-user basis). @𝓞𝓷𝔂𝔁.𝓥𝓲𝔁𝓮𝓷 is a perfect example of an account that posts lots of interesting content with a few occasional NSFW notes. Our new system would make it possible for her regular content to trend by default.
A lot of criticism we get can be summarized as "why isn't Primal perfect today?!". We are building and improving things every day. Everything we've done has always been transparent. Happy to engage in good faith, but Semi obviously hasn't been willing to do that. Faking this advisory to generate outrage is obviously over the top. Excusing his behaviour looks a bit weird to me tbh.
Remember @semisol, the originator of the Primal cEnSoRsHiP and ShAdOwBaNnInG narrative?
Check out his latest work below. He took the time to create a fake Primal content advisory. Even put in the effort with the border gradient to make it look real. Then he got @ralf to post this and boosted to create outrage. Kinda similar playbook as the original attack a couple of months ago.
The sad part is that many people take him seriously. We got some questions yesterday, so I’ll repeat again here. The image below is 100% FAKE. Primal does not display content advisories.
As for @semisol, dude are you okay? Seriously concerned for you. You are a talented developer, why waste your cycles on such negativity? Find something productive to work on. This is Nostr; that level of hate does not vibe here. Pura vida. 💜☀️🫂

Yes, an image/media viewer is on our to-do list. We are currently working on DMs. Once that feature is out, we will hit the image viewer. Aiming to have all of it out in a few weeks.
We did!
Thought that we might have overdone it with too much movement and that it was too distracting. Considering to bring it back as an option. Thoughts?
You can already choose your own relays on Primal, but we haven't implemented that part of the UI on the iOS client yet. You can set your relays via the Primal web app and that will be respected by our mobile clients.
We will soon start publishing our Android builds straight to Play Store (note that the .apk and source code releases will continue as well). Upgrading will be most seamless for those using Play Store, while the other two options are good for those who want more control.
Yes, we can look into adding a "Delete Note" option. While this is merely a request for deletion, most relays do seem to respect it as far as I can tell.

We've had some issues with our trending algo in the past, but this should now be resolved. All trending notes should be based on genuine engagement. Please let me know if you encounter any examples where this is not the case.
