Any other always on vpn-ers out there finding it much harder to do daily life now? 😂
My bank, merchants, etc are constantly rejecting or asking for more verification. Huge increase the past 2 months alone.
They no likie the privacy
This man wants to be in charge of government spending, the world’s town square, human travel, AI, and neurological chips in every human’s brain.
What’s the worst that could happen? https://i.nostr.build/mLZ0WOv7gB6LVh1w.jpg
I’ve always enjoyed chatting with @brockm. This was an excellent conversation to listen to with @petermccormack. And I’ll add, I’m thrilled to see Peter leading the way with bitcoin growing up and expanding to wide ranging topics and conversations about the whole point with all of this…which is how can we understand and make the world a better place for everyone, particularly those most negatively impacted?
Regardless of whether you agree or disagree with certain points, Mike has a heart of gold and I admire his pursuit and focus on the common good and virtues we should all strive for. The world is going mad, but we don’t have to!

Fair, at times there was a lot of that…I think Pete was trying to keep the peace 😂
I just think some of what Mike was saying also needs to be said. I didn’t agree with all of it for sure, but a lot about how a comparison between Trump and Harris isn’t apples to apples is fair in my book.
Also a different voice on the pod to have people think, and disagree or agree!
I was really hoping nostr would be the new and better twitter, or that would be a huge use-case to drive adoption
But I feel like devs are obsessed with micro-apps and less focused on the town square
I know, I think I’m in the minority 😔
I want to write and discuss interesting things with people in a decentralized, non-censored and transparent way. But sharing news, lack of algorithms at all, easier ways to find and search…should be easy to figure out, but not a priority.
Just had a long convo with my boss/CEO at our legal aid org about election season and the real possibilities of a bigger Trump wave in swing states.
We could potentially deal with a lot more immigration cases at my org etc, so we regularly talk national politics and org strategy in my role, including with donors, etc.
She was shocked by me even saying there’s a chance of this. Many, many people here in MA, and other liberal coastal elites, still haven’t learned the lessons of 2016…that way more voters than they think don’t care about trumps rhetoric, jokes at rallies, etc. they just don’t. Many don’t care about the claims about democracy, support for Ukraine, etc.
If Trump wins, clearly Dems still have not learned much from 2016, or ways to actually address the needs or everyday people and seem relatable. It didn’t have to be this way.
Finally have my mind made up on all my voting decisions. Going to vote early tomorrow. This year Massachusetts also has 5 yes/no ballot questions, so busy election cycle this time around.
I know many on #nostr are a bit peeved with political commentary, but I hope to do in from my own views as honestly and thoughtfully as possible.
Elections are harder to predict than ever because basically you have up to 43% of Americans saying they won’t vote based necessarily on a particular party affiliation or how they’ve voted before.
Now in blue states like mine in MA, doesn’t matter rn. But for the swing states? Holy smokes, there’s no tellin. https://i.nostr.build/qja3ZVDcAKgImMl8.jpg
The Bitcoin not crypto and why Bitcoin I superior
Narratives and proof are getting louder and happening faster than I ever could have predicted. The smartest people in the room see it clearly, and governments and centrals banks aren’t gonna know what hit them and are really going to try to slow this down in whatever ways they can.
I listens to both Theo Von and Joe Rogan’s interview with Donald Trump.
I thought the Theo Von convo was much better. Trump was more relaxed, probably less focused on the huge numbers or something, and in his own turf at his club in Jersey.
Rogan, to his credit, tried to land the plane and bring him home. But man can he ramble.
I also feel incredibly sad that Trump made a tactical maneuver to completely neuter RFK Jr, particularly on the environment. Trump was basically like “here Bobby, go play with food and health, don’t even think about touching the environment.”
My hope, IF Trump gets elected (because vibes, national trend, and swing states suggest a bit more in his favor atm and tbh I feel it’s going to be more of a swing state landslide than we think…could be wrong), is that we don’t see draconian abortion bans passed (and that he means it when he says he wouldn’t pass a nation abortion ban), that Trump actually gets some people around him that would pursue nuclear energy (he seems a bit too cautious on it still imo), that he doesn’t try to wage war with Iran or allow Gaza to be decimated, and that he leaves bitcoin self-custody and privacy stuff alone and maybe stop shitcoining so much.
Both the left and the right rn are posturing like their candidate is absolutely, unequivocally gonna win.
The real world that isn’t on X and social media is gonna decide though, and no one knows how it’s gonna go down!
What I do know is way, way too many rich men and Bitcoiners (ok many of whom are wealthy men) seem 120% confident Trump is going to win. I’d hedge that bet a little better guys…
I don’t understand why the democrats can’t get through their heads that Americans find it refreshing when they feel *authenticity* from a person running for office.
Not a malfunctioning robot.
Not that Trump is always authentic but clearly he just is able to say what’s on his mind. The DNC doesn’t allow that, period.
At a personal level Bitcoin clicked for me in early 2021 when I realized
My generation has been screwed, I can’t bank on student loan forgiveness, adequate wages, or social security, I need something else.
That is Bitcoin. A lot of millennials jumped on it, and many more will in the coming years when they wake up to the reality that this is their best bet.
How can we make #nostr workable for teams?
I’ve found no way yet to comfortably or reliably share an nsec/access to an account.
For instance, have multiple users with access to the @TPBPod account while maintaining security and privacy.
@The: Daniel⚡️ and @Evan are very interested in helping find a solution! It seems bluesky has some better approaches to this than nostr atm
I hate to say it, but I don’t see another way…
We need more reasonable, freedom and human rights focused Bitcoiners running for political office.
And term limits so you fools don’t become career politicians and swamp monsters 😂
I’ve been trying to follow at least 3 new nostrich accounts every day here. Fun little task to grow my list!
Who are some of your new/recent favs?
#asknostr
#Politics again, bear with me.
Kamala Harris was one of the weakest, if not the weakest, candidates that ran in 2020. She built her rep on adversarial arguments in front of camera.
Even on that front, she is failing. Why did the DNC think things would be different this time? The more time she has, the worse she does.
I think they thought her having a shorter campaign and going vague and not answering…well, really anything…would be enough. Her closing arguments are now boasting about how many bush era republicans support her, and only talking about Trump. Brilliant…
We’ll see.
I think #nostr should be a place where journalists, academics, and philosophers thrive and have robust conversation + publish their work and blogs
Yes, it’s a protocol with a billion use-cases. But this, above, should be one of them imo
I do 99% of the time.
Every now and again just want to show it. We’re so very small and this can hinder growth.
I’d like for nostr to be taken seriously as a protocol and tool.
Some good conversations about “progressive” on here again recently.
My biggest hang up with any full libertarian or bitcoin only etc etc arguments are how the vulnerable in society will fair *today*. So folks with disabilities (millions in US), single moms raising kids, the homeless, elderly poor folks, etc.
Now, I’ve worked my whole career in nonprofits working with these types of populations. I’m less focused on where the money is coming from, and more on how we organize support. Most nonprofits in the U.S. are heavily funded via government grants and state/federal line items. Should we move away from this, I’d be 100% ok with this as long as there is still stable funding for folks to access resources they need! I’m a big fan of direct cash support.
P.S - my roles recently have been focused on development efforts for nonprofits. So fundraising and building healthy and sustainable nonprofit organizations.
Anyway, hopefully that clarifies for some folks as well that want to argue/discuss states role. For me that’s less important/interesting, but we still will need avenues for people to get help/have support when they need. What does that look like?
Not at all. Just saying if you look at share of revenue across nonprofits it’s very heavily government funded, with still even greater need.
Who will make up the government pie should the government not exist (or money printer not exist)
Btw, I think money printer shouldn’t exist but will for our generation and further I actually believe
