lol I went down the NFT rabbit hole myself and this really does look like some of the most JV mints I saw, except these poor saps won’t even have a shitty jpeg to show for it after the rug gets pulled out from under them 😂
But like, how do you get anything done around the house without a screen? It’s literally impossible for us to cook, clean and do our basic chores without 1 hour of screen time a day (we’re strict with that limit but damn is it necessary!)
Would you have been able to make the switch with a 3 year old? That’s how old my kid is. If I turn my back for two seconds without a screen to entertain him (assuming he even lets me) he’s 100% going to end up with a letter opener in his eye or something
💯💯💯💯
All this “have a spine” BS is probably from people who either have no kids or are not pulling their weight as parents. Easy to make proclamations.
🫡 people who are disciplined about screen time and put in the work to fill the void. But 🖕people who pass judgment and the leave their wives to pick up the slack.
Btw, dad here with 50% equity stake in my child’s development. My kid is perfectly reasonable. Healthy attachment to TV. When it’s time to turn it off, it goes off without protest. And it’s 100% worth whatever brain rot you think is happening. I get shit done around the house while my kid learns about Mozart and Monet and math and shit from the shows he watches. And then we turn it off and go touch grass. I see no problem with that.
lol I realize now that the “you” in my thread above was not referring to YOU (one of the few reasonable people in this thread) but the general “you” that comprises all the dickheads up above 😅
Oh for sure. Kid helps empty the dishwasher, unload the groceries etc. and the older he gets the more he can do (he’s only 3). But we don’t want him in proximity of knives or fire and I spend a solid 4 hours cooking per week… that’s the kind of stuff I need to invoke screen time for.
Thinking more about it, this would probably require support from the client too. Like NWC would need to emit a failure event and the client would need to handle it and notify the user to try the zap again? Maybe with a link to the note with the failed zap for the sake of ease of recall? 🤷♂️ nostr:note1xs5yk4nlgrykxsyvtlq2trl8xlmju6p829qe90clm3mweldg46zsx0n2ku
Listening right now, it’s really good. Just need to connect my npub to @fountain_app (it was connected to an old acct that I deleted, can’t reconnect it) and then the boosts will start flowing!
Thanks for keeping the metal alive!

My main beef with @Alby #NWC is what I perceive to be fragility. Every time I connect my node, I end up having to reconnect it a day or two later because I think the connection is broken.
But I’m realizing that this might only be partially true.
Say I zap someone via NWC. The zap shows up as pending. Sometimes the zap goes through, but sometimes it doesn’t. I only find out about this by refreshing several times. I don’t see a payment from my node, the zap didn’t work… what gives? NWC must be broken.
But as I’ve been using good old fashioned manual zaps I’ve realized it might not be a problem with NWC! Sometimes when I go to zap someone, my nostr client is unable to get an invoice. This could point to an issue with the node that I’m trying to zap. The zap via NWC might just be failing silently because of that.
I just wish there was a way to get that feedback from NWC. Like, “hey your zap failed because we couldn’t get an invoice, go try that again.” #wishlist
Always gets a chuckle out of me when I see people flying a trump flag next to a nazi flag. You know, the flag of the guys that tried to kill us in recent history.
Makes about as much sense as people in the northern US flying confederate flags… which I have also seen.
This is dumb. https://image.nostr.build/a4795981a0bd85c91a99af4bc031c4e286d6d82f93958f346b64b3d4309a027c.jpg
I mean sure that’s an expected generic jab at “corporate media” or whatever but I’ve personally witnessed people in MAGA hats flying nazi flags the same way I’ve personally witnessed a bunch of yokels in Cooperstown NY flying confederate flags. It happens and it’s stupid.
Alright but like… your view is that people who show up at a rally in support of your team, who act in ways that you don’t like, are definitely democrat plants
Cool in that case all those looters from the BLM protests who set shit on fire were definitely republican operatives.
Man that was easy, I should do this more
Been a while since I used Cashu. Is the nutgrabber still a thing on nostr? Let’s see:
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
😂 😂 😂 that was impressively fast
So I’m curious, what kinds of stuff are you using ecash for? Is it your main funding source for zaps? What else? And what mint are you using?
This might be a hot take for an American but it’s fall and that means it’s pumpkin spice season again.
Pumpkin spice flavoring turns whatever you put it in into a waste of that thing.
Im done with it.
Question about #cashu #ecash: let’s say I run my own mint with LNBits. I’d be the only person using my mint (don’t want to custody other peoples money). So if I send ecash to someone else, it would result in a transaction from my node to whatever node hosts the other party’s mint.
Does this defeat some of the privacy advantages of ecash? Would it make more sense for me to trust someone else’s mint if the alternative is hosting my own for which I’m the only user?
#asknostr
Thanks for that. So what I take from this is that there is no privacy benefit to Cashu in the case where I run my own mint, am the only user of that mint, and “cash out” some of my tokens to pay a LN invoice. Because at the end of the day it’s still a lightning transaction from my node where my funds were not commingled with others?
“Excuse me, I came here for boobs. Why are you talking about Bitcoin? I want a refund!”
“Thank you for bringing that up! You see, Bitcoin transactions are irreversible so that puts the onus on the buyer to make sure they understand the terms of the sale before entering into the transaction!”
Pretty much the only thing that gets me excited about humanity’s prospects these days is watching SpaceX pull off crazy fucking shit like this over and over
Couldn’t possibly be because the man is actually a buffoon and Europeans are too smart to suffer a fool like him in office? Nah, has to be corporate media.
Man I love zapping.
Really I just love sending transactions over lightning. There’s something satisfying about the immediacy of it, watching the balance in my wallet decrement. Remember ln.pizza? I ordered so much dominos because of that.
But Nostr gives me a reason to do lots and lots of lightning transactions.

Even if not using a case, the fact that I can drop my phone over and over again and it keeps working (not even a cracked screen) is perhaps mankind’s greatest engineering achievement since the Apollo program. It’s really impressive.
Less than two decades ago I was carrying my LG Chocolate in my pocket (iykyk) and I gently walked into the arm of a couch. That soft and unremarkable impact was enough to cause it to die a dramatic death.
Technology is wild.
#technology #devices #engineering #wtf
Look I’m all for taking precautions if you have to (say, if you’re immunocompromised) but some people just make a hobby of it and take it for wild extremes, like min/maxing their lives.
Like, have you seen r/zerocovidcommunity? Can’t tell if serious.

I think this is a diagnosable disorder. He’s addicted to litigation. I know a few people like that. Being a shithead and making other people miserable by using the legal system against them makes him feel complete.
Been off nostr for a while and seems like things have changed in the iOS client space. @jb55 am I right that the only option for connecting a wallet to Damus is Alby or Nostr Wallet Connect? NWC is really brittle for me, stops working after a day or two and I need to reconnect. Is there any way to connect via LNDHub?
Huh ok. I mean I have the Alby relay, and yet NWC via Alby Hub was just too brittle. I would need to reconnect every day or two.
Good old fashioned manual zaps via BlueWallet involve a few more taps but I’ve got everything connected to LNBits which is absolutely sick. It handles LNDHub and LN addresses and makes it look easy*
*some additional configuration is required to support clearnet but after enough googling and digging through GitHub issues, the fix itself was quite easy
Sir, when New York?! I’m sure Bitlicense is a massive pain in the ass but are you working on getting approval to operate in NY? What is the process like?
