Does anyone use @Mullvad VPN's Mullvad Browser as their daily driver?
I’ve been using Firefox for years. It had improved with the new architecture, but it still has issues with a lot of webapps/SaaS not supporting it as well as the mega corp browsers.
Basically looking for any pros/cons from ppl having used both Firefox and Mullvad Browser.
#browser #web
I already use it as my backup, if some web app doesn’t work in FF. That has been going well with limited use, which is what got me wondering about fully switching over.
lol
I keep hearing about BlueSky from Nostr ppl.
Is it actually gaining real adoption? What is the general read on it becoming a primary social media platform for [whatever groups of ppl]?
I’m aware that it is a fully centralized platform, and some of the discussions happening around that.
When it was first announced, which was probably prior to much/any development, they were advertising it as a decentralized social media solution. Maybe I’m wrong, but that was the impression I got at the time from Jack etc
What is the line for “real” vs “not real” decentralization?
I always understood it as a system has to be decentralized “enough” to overcome censorship, system failures, etc. That’s mostly impossible to quantify until the system is put under pressure in a real world scenario… but it is possible to identify systems which by design are not decentralized.
Will literally nuked the Damus relay and it had almost no noticeable effect (at least for me, or from what I’ve read of others’ experiences). And Damus is my main client, but I also use 1-2 others on occasion,
I don’t know much about BlueSky but it sounds like there is basically a single data server.
@matt@melvincarvalho,
Since you seem to be defending the current or potential decentralization of BlueSky… how does it handle the current central data relay going down? Or, how do they plan to go from one to many data relays?
Sorry, the second question was meant to be more…
How do they play to add more redundancy in the data servers, and in that future state how would they handle it if the ‘top’ server went down?
If there is only one central data source, then it would seem the benefit of having may independent data relays is only relevant in niche censorship scenarios. Lmk if I’m missing something
Cool, I can totally get behind that.
When you say “we should learn from BlueSky”, do you mean ppl focused on Nostr?
If no, then I’m lost on your point.
If yes, what specifically do you think BlueSky is doing right *as a protocol* that Nostr is doing wrong or worse? And specifically curious in the BlueSky “decentralized features” you mentioned.
Thanks
If we’re talking about OpenSats, then I think there are 2 separate funds. Of course there are some projects that could qualify for BTC and NOSTR, but from what I’ve seen they don’t tend to give e.g Nostr clients grants from the BTC fund.
Name the projects which you think are gimmicks, else this is just a rage bait msg 🙄
I’m not an open sats expert or shill, but I know some of the people behind it and I believe they are sincerely trying.
Why do you need coingecko specifically? Do you need data on shitcoins?
If just for Bitcoin data, I would highly recommend hosting your own instance of @mempool and using that API
I think they don’t have USD pricing, but there are plenty of other free APIs to get daily price data, and make the conversion from there
Oh lol. Yeah I have never needed live price feed so that didn’t occur to me.
I think Coinmetrics and Coindesk (both shitcoin companies) have real time price indexes… but probably those are expensive integrations
All good then!
It’s one of those things that normally I wouldn’t even be aware of. I do like and occasionally watch boxing and MMA.
But this event is super hyped (partly because it’s live streaming on Netflix, vs a traditional network).
It’s all clickbait, so just pick and choose the clickbait relevant to what you care about :)
Imagine if Joe Rogan got into the ring with an all time champion (ignoring that Rogan was involved in MMA). Or what if it was Taylor Swift.
The reason is purely bc of the social media followings, and billions of ppl are addicted to ‘trad’ social media.
Yes. I guess my point is it has nothing to do with boxing. It’s just two famous people with huge followings coming together in direct competition. That’s one of the purest most supreme forms of clickbait
Whoa that is next level! 🤣
Do you need to be able to improvise the chord changes in real time? Or could you just have pre-programmed chords for a song, and maybe a midi trigger to move from ‘Section A’ to ‘Section B’ etc?
I’m sure there are stomp boxes that could send midi signals to an actual sequencer like a Novation Circuit.
Adding some hashtags bc we need more of these conversations happening on Nostr:
#music #musicstr #musicians #gear
Consider it a midlife crisis moment 🤣. Don’t regret it at all, the thing is sick.
But yes.. I could have bought 3 different synths instead. Or 1 different synth and generational wealth in sats.
Does the SV1 have a built in preamp? Normally I would plug into an audio interface, a mixing board, or a dedicated preamp unit if you have one. And then from there into the powered monitors.
That is true, but it could be unbalanced, or at a lower level than if you had gone through a DI box or interface.
In any live or recording scenario, you’re always going through some type of interface or mixer (of course there are also keyboard amps). I’ve never heard of anyone going straight from a board into monitors.
Do the monitors even have a line level inputs? I would expect it to be speaker level inputs.
I am just starting to get a little home studio together… run my synth through a stereo tube compressor now and it sounds great. Would love to get some analog pres but damn this stuff gets expensive quick 😂
Could be worth a try… but I was just reading about your SV1 and it has a tube in its circuit, as well as built in amp modeling. So I’m surprised that it isn’t sounding good direct in :-/
