The Nostr protocol is composed of relays that can comply with certain features or not. You can’t guarantee that even if you “force” my relay to delete my content that I am not storing a backup. Guarantee none of the centralized services are actually deleting your data fully either. You really have to assume that whatever you put out there is going to be somewhere. As for VPNs and work apps, some VPNs have a split tunnel or exception feature that allows certain network traffic to not go over VPN. protonVPN has this (I think just PC version, will have to check).
Heh. Work apps not liking a VPN is foreign to me since I have to use a VPN to even connect to my work apps 🤣
Same here. Does seem some SaaS platforms don’t like the known list of VPN IP addresses out there. I know zoom was being an asshole to me in my previous fiat mining assignment when I had protonVPN up.
So are DMs actually encrypted from relays holders?
Yes, NIP-04 DMs, only the recipient can read the DM. relay holders (and everyone else) can see who you’re messaging through.
Unless your using a client that supports and uses NIP-44 for DMs then no one can see who you're messaging.
One more question. Using Primal exclusively now. However, it appears to keep purging all of my Follows. It's happened 4x. Is this a client issue or something that could be manipulated in the protocol by a node?

DM content is encrypted. If you want your DM metadata to be private too, you'll need to use a client that supports that such as Amethyst, Snort, Iris, or Coracle.
