I say the developer or the development team must be in direct and open contact with the community to discuss about the possible future developments whether in positive or negative way (open source ecosystem). This relation between two bodies will define the app's/software's timeline. If someone pressures the community in an obscure way about the financial health it might cause a very stromg backlash ruining everyrhing.
Those threats keep coming. "The developer must" ... "backlash". i'm concerned. What's the "backlash". In the absence of any more specific elaboration one would have to assume the worst. Like gangs of goons being deployed to the developer's premises. It doesn't say explicitly who/what this is about but I assume @jb55 and Damus and I just hope that @jb55 has adequate security at his premises. Do we need to report @Kemal to the authorities at this point.
Im just surprised this upset so many people. I guess I could have just not said anything and just let everyone know at the point i had no money left? I think that would have been worse.
And no I’m not good at “PR” or communication, I am just being open and honest about what I’m thinking at any given time. If people don’t like that then so be it.
It is not about being liked or not. I don't care if I like you or vice versa. It is not the personalities. I don't know you, I can't know you, I don't even know a minute of your life. It is all about process, it is the product you produced. It is your intellect and compassion towards it. This is a process, standing with each other. That's all.
It’s one thing to request for better communication, or whatever else you’re asking for. It’s an entirely separate thing to say do this or else “very strong backlash, ruining everything”. That kind of rhetoric from strangers on the internet is concerning at a minimum, and could be interpreted as a threat.
Just say it openly and we will all try to help. I admire your work a lot, I value it, I cherish it. No matter how, I will support it and organize people around me to do the same thing.With paid relays, subscriptions, donations, whatever available over there. Just don't tell as you did it may be heavily misunderstood.
