The GOP nominee for governor of North Carolina, Mark Robinson, would like to revoke the 19th amendment which granted women the right to vote. That’s a pretty extreme position. nostr:note1n44fglukfm5523ml6j2g0gru8ytz3287f2gr4ehkugkysxum2elsqrj4s5
Its also exactly what should have happened long long ago
@Brunswick You think women shouldn’t have the right to vote?
Yes. Radical, I know, as a former male feminist it has taken many decades to formulate a whole opinion on the topic. I believe in equal opportunity for women, but not equal outcome. Nobody protects women better than men, but only up until women begin demanding to be treated as equals but without the agency. The purpose of voting is to control the beast that wields the force of death, and when women are permitted to decide the fate of men and of men's labor they also must be both liable and able to put their lives and blood equally on the line. There is a physical limitation on women that prevents them from being able to equally perform on the battlefield and in the market; and if they could, the desire of men to defend the society they stand in front of also dies. Women have a gigantic benefit and honorable role as female humans, and their desire should be focused on being women rather than replacing men.
for some reason I can't see your quoted mostr.pub notes on Amethyst but I can see them on Primal... /cc @Vitor Pamplona
So mostr.pub pushes fediverse content to the following relays: wss://relay.mostr.pub wss://relay.shitforce.one wss://nostr.coinfund.app And the primal cache reads in posts from mostr.pub so I’ve you’re using primal, you’ll get mostr posts from the fediverse. We’ve got a couple issues to address. First, there’s a TON of content on mostr.pub, so lots of users won’t want to just add it to one of their read relays, but getting requests for content is how mostr.pub knows to go pull it down from the fediverse. If you’re using a client with a global feed, then you really don’t want relay.mostr.pub because it’ll overwhelm your feed with random stuff. One option is for nostr apps to publish both the repost note, and the event that is getting reposted to its relays. Another is more use of caching services to pull that content in. In terms of making sure mostr knows what actual fediverse content nostr users are looking for, we need a fix for that too. I’m not sure this is so much an amethyst fix as it is a need to update some of how we’re running relays and caching relays. So, thoughts @Alex Gleason ?
I prefer no one is able to vote to control my life, but, given the current voting system the USA is in, If you could prevent an entire subset of voters who are more easily persuade with emotional propaganda, wouldn’t lead to better voters? If you haven’t reviewed the history of women voting, and the severe changes after they began voting, give it a look. It’s pretty fascinating.
My high school government teacher said "We got women's suffrage and have been suffering ever since." And he was an elected Democrat office holder! (an old-school, rational, JFK-style Democrat)
@Marakesh 𓅦 sounds like a bad dad joke. A bit sexist but mostly a bad pun. :)
Eh, this is taken out of context. If you watch the video, he goes on to say those were days where Republicans fought for social change, and that’s why women can vote today.
> During this event, Robinson, who was running for lieutenant governor at the time, recalled someone recently asking conservative activist Candace Owens to pick which version of America would make America “great again,” one where “Black people were swinging from cheap trees” or one where women weren’t allowed to vote. > Robinson said he would definitely return to the days in America when women were denied the right to vote “because in those days we had people who fought for real social change, and they were called Republicans.” I’m a bit disappointed that @rabble would bother reposting such a click bait headline … what’s the point exactly?
I agree the headline takes it out if context, but the article clarifies it. That said, there are folks who agree with the headline. nostr:note17quyustes2py36mhsw827qp29rm6ktghnjpjn95qzfadksas5ylsgnz753
You’ve got to know more if the labels are misleading so you can make a proper judgement.
It just made me laugh hysterically!
