I didn’t make up the hashtag it was suggested to use so others know to try and help the person in need, safety in numbers for females. And I don’t play the victim card, I can handle myself here, for others it’s not as easy and we should support each other after all isn’t that another reason Nostr is different from other platforms?
I know you can! And more power to you. We do have a great community here, which we need to maintain and a big part of that includes making this a positive environment for others. But with that said, I don’t support everyone here (including a few in this thread) and what really makes Nostr different is the ability for users to control their own experiences. We do need better tools to curate who we interact with, but it’s ultimately up to us as individuals to choose who we interact with, jn what manner we interact with them, and how we react to the interaction.
I agree with you about the trolling aspect. These are impossible situations to navigate. All we can do is offer help and try and figure out someway to be alerted to the distress of another person. I like the idea of “hashflag”. I keep thinking of something like a hashtag but somehow invisible to all but those who have been sent the Hashflag or something like that. I’d have to be smarter to have a really good solution.
The power of mute and ignore is still very strong. My first month here included a few nasty interactions, but I built a nice mute list and that helped. Trolls are like leeches, they feed on the energy you give them. To kill a troll, you must ignore it and not let it affect you at all costs. Unfortunately, when big accounts leave and we have discussions like this, it energizes the trolls.

One of the thing I really appreciate about SSB is that block events are publicaly posted by all clients (at least all the ones I've tested). It makes blocking a communal act: see someone you trust block an account, give the account a look, and perhaps block it as well. More important to block there since each account takes up storage on your device, but would be nice if clients did that here for blocks and mutes. The trolls can go play with the people that can stand them, and micro communities can form free from trolls and spammers. I haven't checked, but does #nos do this @rabble?

I know Amethyst has the thing were if a certain number of accounts you follow block an account the account is hidden for you. The thing I'm talking about is if I block someone, it gets posted to my timeline that I blocked x. Does Amethyst do that as well? Don't think I've ever seen a post like that.

Amethyst sends them out, but AFAIK doesn't show them in the client. We could always ask Vitor to add this functionality :)
Luckily the worst of the worst I think is blocked at the relay level once found out, however I feel once you see all these block events in your timeline you may find yourself seeing much content you rather had not seen in the first place. Once WOT is more available in clients you won't need to block accounts your follows blocked.
Maybe not a kind 1 post but I know when you report something Amethyst not only reports it but sends a reaction with alarm sign. I don't like it though cus if I report something I don't want to help advertise it in any way. Ability to see a list of accounts your followers blocked could be nice though for those wanting to seek them out.

Regarding this conversation I stopped seed oils completely almost 3 years ago and feel no different about it. I am curious of people that say cutting seed oils improves how they feel. That's not the reason you cut them, but rather to avoid further damaging your body and hopefully avoiding a bunch of disease.
IDK about ONLY seed oils, but I drastically reduced plants when my mom convinced me to try carnivore. Used to take antihistamines for allergies every day, heard burn relief chews every day, nasal inhalant every night to breath for sleep, pain meds almost everyday for back pain. All that disappeared and my life honestly changed. Either way, not a religion and not worth judging over.
Why don't the more sensitive just mute those who bully them? Isn't it being to sensitive on internet? It will never be a polite promised land..life ain't like that at all.
It’s both, but I think the general consensus here is that in a world of mostly good people, with the power of full freedom of speech, many of us feel the responsibility to use that freedom to call out assholes when they’re being malignantly antisocial. Part of how organic free society forms is that when someone behaves in a way that is unacceptable to the other individuals, the one who acted out is shamed or ostracized, and learns that the rest of the society will not voluntarily associate with him if he doesn’t modify his behavior.
Just a random thought I had: design nostr to have a yin and yang element to it. Create spaces for the two polarities and you choose where you want to spend your time. I think we haven't explored hidden/private groups enough either.
The way out of hate spirals is just to feel sorry for the haters and bullies. That releases you psychologically, and they lose any power to trigger your defenses. They are genuinely hurting in themselves and it must be horrible to be them. But they have to live their life, you don't have to live it for them. Let it go with a compassionate glance. Get on with being you.

based on the seed oils discussion and her latest post it seems to me that she left not because of gender based harassment but for personal reasons? She had a disagreement about seed oils, and I don’t see gender based hate ? is this another example of projecting our own bias on to a situation and totally misinterpreting the reality ?
