People who don't take their ear pods out when socialising, are they also listening to something on them? Lol #asknostr Is this generally acceptable now? Is it considered rude to ask them if they're listening to something lol? Is it just off and jewelry?
Nah its pretty rude, unless they tell you they're waiting on an important call or something
I can't not see it as rudeness, maybe it's acceptable for younger generations tho?
I will ask my 12 y o and see if I get a non-troll answer :D
You might laugh at me. But something I wear earphone with nothing playing. I'm just wearing them so I can pretend to be listening to something. You'll be amazed what people are saying around you because they think you aren't listening.
sometimes*
My wife says she wears them outside so that people don't try to talk to her :) But maybe she's really as tricky as you :p
it gives you a free pass from solicitors, they don't even bother trying to chat/talk.
This is fair enough, but what happens when you are meeting up with a friend? Do they stay in? 🤔 That's the bit I'm finding confusing lol
I leave them in and talk normally. If they ask, "I'm not listening to any music,I'm focused on this conversation"
I think it might be considered not-rude/normal now lol. Not sure.
Nah, I keep them in my ears to reduce the volume of life.
Even when you're socialising with friends?
Depends on where we are. In a public place, yes. If in a conversation I might remove one of them.
So you're having lunch with a friend, only one ear pod comes out? Is the other ear pod playing music? Or just in your ear?
Just in my ear, as sound reduction. If alone, both are on, sometimes listening to music or podcast, but often just off.
I see, this is quite an interesting answer 🤔 I am assuming you are not considering your conversation with your friend as noise (?) 🤔🤔 lol
I pause whatever I'm listening to while I talk to co-workers. Conversing normally lets them know I am giving them my full attention. Leaving them in sends the message that I am just here for what I need. No small talk please.
I'm getting older, and the hearing is starting to go. I leave them in, and use the talk passthrough feature as a cheap hearing aid.
Interesting. I've never had ear pods so wasn't aware of this feature. I'm glad I asked this question 👀
"ambient aware" "talkthru" "hear through" "transparency" The function has different names depending on manufacturer, if you want to shop for this feature
I use them sometimes as hearing aids. It works very well. They're then in a mode when human speech frequency is amplified.
People who walk around with speakers. What are they thinking? (Next on my list of trying to understand grumpy dad type moans lol) https://image.nostr.build/c3fa45dc391acd3dd902495e1d8f6d1f7b81e2f126907f3c20737156e60a517d.jpg It's usually someone alone, who looks like they're into street art, ESL, backpacker vibes, blasting french hip hop or reggaeton. Are they trying to make friends? are they sound tracking their lives. Do they think we care? Do they not care what we think? (I find it hard to believe they don't care about what people around them think, cos they're blasting music at them lol). #asknostr nostr:nevent1qqsfjvtfd6m8mkpzkmya2hm4fzzfl0yzqpkh3ac72s07fp8hksfv3cspzamhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumn0wd68ytnzv9hxgtczyzw2p0t52p6z663qxxwqu02vv7wfupr2nhrsarh4ts5stcjq2g6qkqcyqqqqqqgsv5232
