ZEUS will never block payment to our competitors’ wallets, disparage or belittle anyone trying push Bitcoin adoption forward, or give up on trying to ship self custodial solutions.
We will, however, continue to push the limits of what is possible on Lightning in order to provide an amazing payments experience, in a self custodial manner, for as many people as possible.
The app store release of ZEUS v0.8.0, featuring our embedded node(“the node is in the phone”), OLYMPUS LSP, self custodial Lightning addresses, and rebrand, drops in December. Much more will follow in 2024.
We’re grateful to everyone who’s come along for the ride with us and we’re excited to help onboard the next wave of Bitcoiners.
✌️
So, any thoughts about the risk of force closures (kicked off by a griefer or otherwise) as a result of asynchronous payments gone awry?
Shit on the internet doesn't work when it's offline. Use an online node.
Bitcoin L1 works just fine when it’s offline.
Lightning? Not so much.
Your signer might, but good luck using it without connection to the broader network.
For shit on the internet to work it needs to be online. This isn't a new revelation.
I would zap this post, but my @OpenSecret force closed my channel after tried to zap myself via @ZEUS🤣🤣🤣 can't we all just get along
This is a really bad response.
Pointing out that an attempt to push Bitcoin adoption forward doesn't actually work properly isn't disparagement or belittlement. It's just accurately pointing out that an idea doesn't work properly and needs to be fixed.
Blocking payments to this broken feature is a good thing, especially given that Mutiny is also giving users the ability to turn that blocking off if they're willing to risk losing money.
Of course, long term the Lightning protocol needs to be improved. But those improvements need to actually work properly. Zeus's use of hodl invoices doesn't.
The best path forward here is for Zeus to tone down the ego, disable Zeus Pay for now, and figure out a better way to do it.

It’s still in Beta, look up what that means. Zeuspay not going anywhere. Go cry about it
Yes I agree, but the whole statement could have used a “we’re working out the kinks be patient” by whatever ain’t nobody got time for perfect boilerplate PR responses.
Love all y’all hoes.
It could have definitely been more graceful but Mutiny went for their neck, I honestly can’t blame the jerk response lol. I think it should go without saying that kinks are being worked out though. This thing has been in beta for a month and from the last TestFlight update a few days ago I can already see huge improvements.
These devs from both teams are under a lot of stress, we just need to let devs figure out the best strategy to be compatible
All I know is I tried to zap to Zeus and thought they all failed, but apparently they didn’t. But you only know that by verifying every single time. Which is cumbersome AF. And sketchy.
woah..... wallet wars ~ @ODELL
Hard ware wallet support available ?
Why am I getting "No route found" error? No matter which lightning address I try to send to?
Not sure if this will help, but here's what I've been able to find:
This error can be caused by a number of factors, including:
Network congestion:
The Zeus network may be experiencing temporary congestion, which can cause delays or errors in transactions.
Node issues:
Individual nodes on the Zeus network may be experiencing problems, which can also cause errors.
Wallet issues:
There may be an issue with your Zeus wallet itself, which could be causing the errors.
If you're experiencing this error, there are a few things you can try:
1.
Wait a few minutes and try again.
The network congestion may clear up on its own.
2.
Try using a different node.
You can find a list of Zeus nodes on the Zeus website.
3.
Update your Zeus wallet.
The latest version of the wallet may have fixes for the error.
4.
Contact Zeus support.
If the issue persists, you can contact Zeus support for further assistance.
Here are some additional tips to help prevent "no route found" errors in the future:
Keep your Zeus wallet up to date.
The latest version of the wallet may have fixes for known issues.
Use a reliable internet connection.
A strong and stable internet connection can help prevent errors during transactions.
I hope this helps!
My bet is the graph isn’t downloaded.
Settings > Embedded Node > Express Graph Sync then restart
Will be on by default soon
Thank you that was very helpful. I found out that I had my fee rate for my transactions set too low. 😅
Big fan of Zeus and it's been my primary wallet for a couple of years with various back-end nodes - new UX looking sweet - keep pushing, keep experimenting and innovating .. and learning
Critique on the fact that hodl invoices are pieces of toxic dogshit that are materially bad for the lightning *network* is objective commentary
L1 fees *should* have been a design consideration, but where they haven't been, as they eventuate it's highlighting those who haven't thought that through to well (maybe lookin' at you Muun)
Learning involves feedback and the experiment with hodl invoices has some pretty clear outcomes and they're not a net positive
Personally, I'd prefer to see them dropped entirely. But then again I'd also like to see LND focus on BOLT12 rather than shitcoins on L2. I expect Santa will bring me a unicorn for christmas before that happens tho.
At the end of the day, I'm not in the arena building like you guys are.
Don't stop building .. and don't stop learning from experimentation and feedback <3
