.308 Was in the stand for only about 3 minutes when he trotted in (got in late, around 1745). Bucks are already in rut so he was bookin it right towards me. Made a click to stop him & shot him, chest facing me. Shot to the heart, but no blood. Went and got our goofy red bone hound, who’s normally just a good outdoor dog & he led us right to it!

Nice!!! What’s your favorite part? Man I love the heart. Fry it in butter or ghee the same day usually. Least favorite would be spleen. I tried frying that in lard but still…must be an acquired taste!
Never tried the spleen, didn’t even know that was edible tbh. We like the heart, but I kinda destroyed it with my shot. I’d say we like the tenderloin the best. We’re probably going to make hamburger out of this guy, that’s what we need most atm
