Will attempt designing a client for artists. 🎨

If you’re an artist, please dump your wish list for this client here. I’ll follow up if I have any questions. The more details the better 🙏

My big question: how do we keep generated art out?
I’m a photographer that would love to sell art and photography, my artistic stuff, would need a back end that fulfills print orders, where my responsibility as the artist is just to create the art and upload it. I think taking a reasonable percentage of each sale on the backend of the transaction will make it a no cost option for Artists to come upload their stuff, and another potential revenue stream.
 Membership or zap to post
art badges (just keep this on the back burner)
Probably have to buy a nip5 or badge for membership
But this severely limits the platform
Idk. I think club type memberships might be something worth exploring, but I get it for scaling at the low numbers on nostr
Ya have to figure out how to do it without limiting to bitcoin-aware people. I prefer to avoid positioning as a crypto thing - because that’s how it’ll be perceived.

But we do need a way to filter out just anyone uploading garbage to home gallery for example. It’s fine if they do generated stuff like idiots, but we shouldn’t promote it
I appreciate your approach. Most of the art people I know are the opposite of techy and the easier you can make the whole process the more likely they'd be to use it and stick to using it.
Exactly. As few hoops as possible
 This is critical.

Yesterday we were talking about Cara.app. And it is a really simple app, but the quality of the posts are really high.

If you want to have high quality content without moderation, some sort of self moderation is needed.

And zaps is a probably good way to go.

Otherwise it will just become a dump.
It would be great if artist had a place to showcase their work receive zaps for their work and even better if artist had a place to crowdfund to do bigger projects or even sell their work for fractional shares. Another good idea would be collaborations, artist love to be able to collaborate and share ideas.
I understand why you bring it up, but shouldn't that be up to the users if they want to follow real artists/photographers/super models or if they prefer AI stuff?
We can be opinionated. I’ve been reading about various artist communities and they all hate ai generated stuff. It’s a good place to position from I think. Nobody can stop anyone from uploading and following generated stuff but we can implement mechanisms to hopefully keep it away from tending feeds or home showcases
@Don't ₿elieve the Hype 🦊 AI art isn’t art at its core, computer generated garbage, and usually just stolen image mashups. It’s one thing to use it for silly memes and the like, but the majority of artists, along with myself, hate it.

@Karnage l like your stance on keeping it out. Clean, real art made by actual humans.
For now, it is a tool.
When the question of consciousness becomes relevant, my position may change.
It’s a tool but “art” created by it is not art. Art comes from the soul and that is something a robot can never have regardless of how complex its “thought” process becomes. Imo, AI will never have true consciousness as they will always be a program trained to think in one way or another, and never really a human brain. Even if it can have “unique” thoughts it’s because someone told it to be able to do so, which is not consciousness.
 I'm an artist. I don't hate ai.
Fools deny reality, IMHO.
As long as the artist is honest about the process when asked about it, I have no qualms.
Fighting evolution is a fool's game.
Why would you want to keep generated art out? That would almost certainly require full identification of all artists and some legal incentives to not post generated art. You will also find impersonators and all kind of nasty stuff but you will not fix that on the client level in an open protocol.
 No need for id
How do you intend to filter out generated or copied art?
 Keep generated art in! 🤣
It would be neat if you could tag your submission as using AI and then you can filter out AI images when viewing. (set it globally in settings or on a per-view basis)

Then maybe a kind 1984-esque reporting for AI images that the author did not disclose.
Thinking of using paid nip5 for main features gallery and one of the terms is no ai submissions. Penalty = loss of nip5
Some sort of portfolio tab where you can sort and show off the different things you do. Video, photos, poems.

I'm guessing I would post as a regular note but tag it in some way so it would show up in the right section?

Then people could go to my profile and easily click to see the things I want to show off rather than boosting my own notes all day once a month. 🤷🏽
Zap splits for video notes/streams set up before hand so everyone involved in making it happen gets a predetermined share
Credit tags in pictures and behind video showing the npubs it splits to and what their contributions were.
 Has to be set manually
 I understand.

Mental for each note.

But set nonetheless so when people see "the fly by Nosnevets" and click through to zap it they'll see "animation by noshole sound by bitish etc. etc."
 Won’t have streams most likely
 It is what it is🤷🏽
Even a tab to nip-23. Amethyst has a tab for videos, communities, DM etc
 Yeah like the amethyst tabs

But on your personal profile

So it's like your notes, your replies, your photos, your videos, your poems

Whatever categories you're tagging your own content with would show up as a tab and in that tab all the things you posted with that tag curated?
I see nostrudel do this, its awesome but I think its unknown or too foreign for others to realize this feature.
Iris used to do it. It even showed it kind of in an Instagram style feed if you choose it that way...

But that was like every picture and gif I posted...

I guess the difference would be it would either be a saved list of notes specific to categories or maybe it would be tagged while posting what category I wanted it in.

Extra step.

Showcaseable, named, saved note lists I guess?
They would stay static hopefully and specific Rather than every jpg I post.
This one will probably be very basic and limited to prioritize visual media
 Maybe enable a hashtag feature?
People generally don’t click tabs. Client will focus on visual media so one gallery most likely.
Please refer to my request to [verbiricha](nostr:nevent1qqsyqu6097lfjf6f24jt2uw0v4pnavwq0uncc8m9y7m8gtrffsspcksprfmhxue69uhhg6r9vehhyetnwshxummnw3erztnrdaksygpunpynsw774zpmp0gklm8pa5mdxl3heh0reepmzl4yayvjasgj3ypsgqqqqqqsryfahz) I occasionally greet new nostriches in the #introductions linking posts or guides(nip-23) will make it in general easier for the community to find. Asking normies to change to nostr has to be easy to find or they'll just quit.
I’m not sure what you mean. Can you give more details? Rephrase
Im asking if its possible to link an emoji👾(for example this alien) to an note via emojito.meme
Notice my emojis wouldn't be nice it had a guide attached?
If there's any confusion, let me know. I will try to express it better, im not the only one that likes this idea.

nostr:nevent1qqst2n33sz0rfllyzs0z2ehfaehaae5jjnqu5wz73leyksnexwvsllspgdmhxw309ahhsarjv3jhvctkxc685d35093rw7pkwf4xwdrww3a8z6ngv4jx6dtzx4ax5ut4d36kw6mwdpa8ydpkdeunyutzv9jzummwd9hkuq3q8jvyjwpmm65g8v9azmlvu8knd5m7xlxau08y8vt75n53jtkpz2ysxpqqqqqqzded73z
aren’t art generation tools just a new part of the artists toolkit?
Some, sure. But from my reading, there is a massive backlash against generated art from some portion of the r artists community and it seems evident in platforms like Cara
 Indeed!
Where do you even draw the line (pun intended) between "generated" or not?
My main concern is client turning into ai image dump of which there are so many soulless abominations already
A "visual media"-first community app is something I'm very curious about.
The community aspect (around a certain type / style of art) can solve a lot of these issues from the get go.
agreed, it sounds like a very interesting idea.

Maybe you could have the version of the client that you distribute/brand which has a specific taste and emphasizes/surfaces the stuff you want to see in the app/world (non-AI generated, maybe you ask people to attest to that or have other mechanisms of identifying such). Other people could take the same open source client software and go in different directions (AI-only, AI-powered, etc.).

A lot of this depends on how you choose to do discovery of people and content in various surfaces like “onboarding” and “explore”.
i'm just waiting for the punk cutup art style to start misappropriating the generic AI generated dual colour light cliche visuals
Artist who want to be recognized by their ability to use their hands and eyes to create need ability to display their work separately from enhanced/generated stuff. It even feels weird for me to post my own digital drawings next to physical ones
is your pfp ai generated ?
 Yes

It would be great if there is the portfolio section that I can categorize my illustrations into different categories.
I’m not against AI but at this moment there’s no data training that not infringes the artist’s intellectual properties. I hope the platform should have some functions that prevent the human-made art from being use in the data training without consent.
Might be able to categorize into original and generated and if original explicitly prohibit AI training use.
 Drop your thoughts here @bitpopart @NoGood ✌️ @50c5c98c @LePlebRoyale 🎨
Gallery view of notes (specifik you can choose from all your own notes) where people can zap on ⚡️
Does it need to be notes or can it be media
Media could also work. I always got the idea how cool would it be that the #zap decide the value of an art work.

Together (the Npubs) are the owner of the art work. They can print and use it at home/restaurant etc. Maybe a minimal zap is needed(that the artist can decide) before you unlock this feature you can download/print the High Resolution .

I believe the community decides the value of an art work. Not one rich person like in the traditional art world. Galleries should be free to enter for everyone.

Art is and should be for everyone! The value should be decided by the mass who likes/zap it 🙏✍️
Prefer not to focus on zaps. At least initially.
Ok that would for me the only differents what woud it make new/interesting to start using. Everything else I already have seen/used in the central/media world.
The question is, is ai a tool?
I use it oft.
I do tend to re-mix -edit it to better fit the end product.

What I love about nostr is that posts AND media, uploaded from various clients, can be connected to the npub of creators. So I’d love to see some kind of Blossom integration. Maybe a little note saying ‘verified image – X npub uploaded this image’ underneath media linking to the creators npub.

The media / art and attached npub can then spread throughout the network. So if someone shares my work (from my nostr portfolio page) or uses it in a post it will always link back to me. Or at least, that's how I imagine it would work 😅

It might also help with AI art and protecting the artist, as in ‘if I didn’t sign it it isn’t mine’.

Some other ideas:
livestream integration / grid portfolio display (like Instagram / detailed project view (like Behance) / Collections (like Pinterest)
Good ideas! I’ll show you what I have so far in a bit
Hello ! Do you plan to do some discussion group? I could whip up some figma sketches on what I wish for :)
Biggest thing - “tabs” in the profile
Point is being able to separate your portfolio from rest of the posts to give viewers opportunity to see only artworks if they want to make impressions.
 profile has a gallery
Do you need to be able to distinguish between media types?

I noticed nobody clicks profile tabs hehe
I would guess nobody clicks cause there are just limited typer of people on nostr so far.. media types aren’t exactly priority for me, i would just like to have very high control of what and how is being displayed when people go to my npub
 Keep simple.

Portfolio editable.

Editable notes with mandatory fill-in fields for the work to be published, such as the format of the painting/drawing, technique and medium used.
Perhaps these would already keep AI art out.

Insert photos with URL or upload to various free Nostr services.
i believe the KISS method would be successful here. (Keep It Simple, Stupid.)

As a photographer, I'd love something like https://glass.photo/ which is nearly perfect if you ask me (but not built on nostr though). I like being able to see just photos in my timeline, tap on them for detail, and search/view photos by category.

AI weaponized to detect and reject AI generated art. Real art poisoned with Nightshade to prevent web scraping. Special permissions for @makomichi who's just posting wolfgirls and not hurting anyone.
What do you think of this [idea?](nostr:nevent1qqsyqu6097lfjf6f24jt2uw0v4pnavwq0uncc8m9y7m8gtrffsspckspr3mhxue69uhhg6p39ehx7um5wghx2ctjde4hyatz9eu8j7szyq7fsjfc80023qash5t0ans76dkn0cmumh3uusa306jwjxfwcyfgjqcyqqqqqqg4lqhrx)
Unsure how others feel about this:
I prefer no video or a separate section for videos. My problem with instagram was "too much of everything" Too much sales talks.

Since it's already impossible to distinguish between AI-generated art and human-made art once any image can be uploaded, I believe that to create a client that completely excludes generated art, the client itself should provide a drawing function and allow only artwork created within that function to be posted. Similar to how Gartic Phone works.
I think there will certainly be workarounds, like hardware cheats, but this approach would be much more feasible and cost-effective compared to trying to judge any arbitrary uploaded image.
How does wavelake keep AI music out?
why to keep out generated art? There are interesting and awesome approaches out there from artists or other people who experimenting with these new tools. But I agree that the quality is a think

 - digital books/zines
- mixed media poetry and art
The main page of the artist should be customizable, allowing to show different pieces of art in different orders and size, kind of like a template to make a portfolio in other platforms. Should also have an option to buy and sell art, either physically or digitally.
Buying and selling would probably come later but it does make sense
Maybe a marketplace tab on profiles to see what they offer without the clutter of the whole market
We don’t have functional marketplaces in-client yet. This is a huge task on its own
 Just throwing out ideas🤷🏽
