yeah i don’t know if i can be on nostr anymore. peace.
People can be really mean, it's difficult not to absorb it, I get it There's good people here, focus on us In the end, you know what's best for you Take a pause, but don't leave forever 🫂
Good evening #nostr Yhat would be a sad day for nostr... nostr:nevent1qqsddptden2xvlatuv698y5adzvpr7dchlyh6umrt3zr046ur2yfpecpr9mhxue69uhhqatjv9mxjerp9ehx7um5wghxcctwvspzp3pmhdvw9e4u97292avz2lmt55efzpaaf6p8gp5v9ymvd8veszmaqvzqqqqqqyt3jqdj
There is no nostr without Roya.
Nostroya
That's retarded.
The issue on Nostr isn't just trolls. I think there are a lot of mentally ill people on nostr. Like, you read some comments and it's really incoherent speech, when the person is completely uninhibited openly insulting people they don't know and having parasocial relationships with people they dont know either
Don't leave us, Royaaaa! 😭😭😭
#Nostr is not the same without one of the bests persons like you, Roya. nostr:nevent1qqsddptden2xvlatuv698y5adzvpr7dchlyh6umrt3zr046ur2yfpecpramhxue69uhhget9d45k2vfdwfjkccte9ej82cmtv3h8xtn0wfnsygxy8wa43chxhsheg4t4sftldwjn9yg8h48gyaqx3s5nd35anxqt05psgqqqqqqspars5h #grownostr #siamstr
I understand this feeling. I don't know exactly why roya left but I have had my "fuck nostr" moments too. last year I quit on International Women's Day because the amount of misogynistic and -insert prefix here-phobic content and memes that were floating around. It was on my own feed. it was in global feed. it was pervasive and everywhere. I don't expect to be treated special on IWD. It is nice when it happens. When I was working overseas, the men on our development teams celebrated their women counterparts by paying their way during lunch and saying "Happy Women's Day" A simple, heartfelt sentiment. Had they not celebrated us, it would have been just another day at the office and been perfectly fine. But no, on nostr, it would have been the equivalent of coming to work and having the men spit on us and make us feel less-than all day. Men that we worked alongside every other day of the year show their derision on just that one day. I had people in my feed who I had interacted with churn out hate memes against women on just that day. It felt disgusting so I quit. what's the point of staying when most of my time spent here was gonna be hitting the block button? Months later, I came back. I like the immaturity of nostr as a social space where the connections feel more authentic. Blocking is a powerful tool and I use it liberally. the social landscape change a little for the better while I was gone. here's to hoping it continues to get better so the people who left will come back. nostr:nevent1qqsddptden2xvlatuv698y5adzvpr7dchlyh6umrt3zr046ur2yfpecpz4mhxue69uhk2er9dchxummnw3ezumrpdejqygxy8wa43chxhsheg4t4sftldwjn9yg8h48gyaqx3s5nd35anxqt05psgqqqqqqsx873my
When people(men?) show their true colors, you mute them? I do think nostr needs the ability to limit how others can interact with one’s own posts. If I want to turn off commenting, reactions, or limit such things to a list of npubs I approve of, that should be possible. Such things would prevent this experience in my opinion.
Hope you’ll be back sometime. But even more than that, I hope the losers who’ve harassed you all know this isn’t a win for them. They’ve dug themselves deeper into their little cesspool existence and you’re still out there living your life and being you.
I feel you.
😔
Most of all I want people to do what they need to do to live their best lives. Roya shouldn’t have been subjected to the abuse and trolling that she was. I wish I had come to her defense more often and checked in with her more. She seemed like a master of batting away haters and trolls. I tend to deal with them by subscribing to the notion of “Don’t feed the trolls.” But sometimes a group needs to tell someone their behavior is inappropriate and kindly fuck off. At the end of the day protecting one’s peace is so important. Nostr isn’t worth sacrificing a healthy, peaceful state of mind. Roya doesn’t owe us her presence or attention.
#nostrsimps afuera!
Take care of yourself Queen. 💜🫂
It was a good run Roya! I took 6 months off, I hope you can come back! Take all the time needed!
Wait, what? Is this Roya???
Sadly yes she is gone. We are all hoping this is an April’s fool joke but who knows. I mean she erased everything.
I don’t think you can undelete your nostr
You can, there’s a GitHub thing by @Yonle. https://github.com/Yonle/undelete-my-nostr
She hasn’t deleted her account just changed the name to ‘nobody’.
That’s how delete on Damus works. It removes the profile details and sets a delete flag so the nsec can’t be used again.
Yep. Daniel’s right. The nsec is gone.
No her account name has changed this is it @roya ୨୧
That’s just how “delete” works, @Marie.
🫡
Account deletion is basically setting nane as "nobody" and putting `"deleted": true` into your metadata so the nsec could not be used in certain client like damus / plebstr
This was a condition of the iOS App Store.
I imagine if she saved her nsec she could restore her account.
With some assistance.
Cause of Apple App store policy, it is impossible to delete nostr account with all clients except fediverse software
Btw, will those pictures be deleted or hidden?
Photos are hosted on AWS so they can only be deleted manually either by asking @nostr.build or removing them if they’re on a self-managed service.
