What makes explaining #bitcoin and #nostr so hard is the fact that they exist outside the worldview most people live their lives within. Asking someone to adopt them is like asking someone to stand where there's no ground or breathe where there's no air. Fiat has warped how people see everything and people take the new view as normal. Nothing lines up with that reality when you explain the problems Bitcoin and Nostr solve, so you're automatically dismissed. Telling someone their worldview is corrupted makes people fearful and closes them off to reason. I don't know a better way to explain Bitcoin than by letting people feel enough pain from fiat to start questioning why things are so messed up at a fundamental level, and then introducing them to Bitcoin. Otherwise, there's no motivation to learn.

This is a good way to put it, you make very good points that the ones not on board currently will need some motivation to change their world view. That motivation is unfortunately painful for them (and us). I remain hopeful that enough people begin to see what we have already realised and join us.

The first reaction I get is that Bitcoin is a threat to the existing system, and that it will hurt people. If people are convinced of that from the start, there is no point in continuing the conversation. Because while I strongly agree that Bitcoin IS a threat to the existing system, it's the only thing that will SAVE people from the damage that the current system is causing.

Bitcoin is not near as big of a threat as the fiat system is to itself. Bitcoin is just an escape hatch. Imagine believing you’re kidnapped and believe the key to your handcuffs is a threat. Fiat is peak Stockholm syndrome.

The only thing preventing ordinary people from perceiving Bitcoin as an artificial topic is that it is still too little accepted as a means of payment. Enough to speak with financially excluded, oppressed people, you will see that they need #bitcoin, but have difficulty how to get it. They overcame enough pain and are looking for solutions. In authoritarian states as #Kazakhstan or #Nigeria activists can’t use exchanges-excluded by regimes; but they also have difficulty to use p2p transactions - regimes prosecute those who help to transact in that way (cash to bitcoin).

I agree with you, most people can’t think on their own and are so accustomed to the idea that if someone outside of where they get their “news” tells them anything diffusion the agenda they have been fed, we are dismissed and counted as “crazy”. 💜✊🧡 I won’t stop though and I know you won’t either 🫂🫶

well said brother. I experience this on a regular basis. even after a successful orange pilling some peeps will not have the necessity to change and step out from their comfort zone. once their fiat ice cube castle has completely melted though... Bitcoin will still be here.

Okay, so the way I see it, it's about you and the people that believe in this creating the alternative we want to see the world. Our task is not to convince other people. Our task is to be the change that we want to see in the world. Creating the better alternative. What is it that you want to see in the world? For me it's several things but at least one that I've worked really hard is actually defining democracy (and the political model of countries in general). For me, the biggest conclusion for all the mess we're living in is because the people were actually never had the legal and political possibility of saying no and reverting specific laws. In Switzerland they've solved that (People's Veto Power), and that's why Switzerland is probably one of the best countries in the world. I've compiled the Swiss democratic system into 7 principles (#swissdem7) and this will allow people to better communicate the systems in the new Governance systems that we create. With #bitcoin we will be able to recreate our change/systems at any scale globally in the world. What are waiting for really? Why aren't we co-founding a new Internet Country together? Who wants to co-found a new Internet Country together?

Lets be clear guys, 90% of us nostr and bitcoin users are fellows that work with tech / tech enthusiast. I think we need to focus on reduce the gap between us and them, the common users. Yes, it's awesome that nostr is a protocol, decentralization is freedom, and bitcoin is running on top of a blockchain but what it really means for the average users? We need to decrease entry barrier. Common people don't need to know how these things work, neither what is the name of technology used backdoors. Only adoption will make things really change for good. And I think we need to bring big spotlight to us. (BTC is already doing it, but it took too long to do so, we know this, and we are far from optimal adoption for a global currency that it deserves to be). Maybe we need to play "the sales guy man" game. We do have a Black Friday day over the world right? Why don't we just join forces and make a "Purple WEEK". Discounts for all product using BTC / Nostr interfaces. Invite your journalists friends to cover this event, spread the word of discounts and don't talk about the technology behind it! We need to circle cripto economy, not just to do buy and hold and this trading shit, we need to really spend money, buy products, it will catch their attention. We need more shops (that sells common products) to start accepting cripto. This needs to start, and it needs to be a global movement, and it needs to be as soon as possible... Governments all over the world are bringing their own CDBC to live... and let me tell you. I live in Brasil, and their CDBC is much more user friendly than BTC or Nostr or any Web 3.0 app and it's already inserted in peoples life through fiat... The way things are moving BTC and general Web 3.0 will always be a marginalized/niche thing.

Completely agree. It’s the same with emotional pain. We can’t save people from experiencing their pain. Doing so is to dilute and ultimately prolong the effect the pain is teaching them. Sometimes it’s the quickest route to growth. No one will save you like you will save yourself
