The first reaction I get is that Bitcoin is a threat to the existing system, and that it will hurt people. If people are convinced of that from the start, there is no point in continuing the conversation.
Because while I strongly agree that Bitcoin IS a threat to the existing system, it's the only thing that will SAVE people from the damage that the current system is causing.
If an open source software is a threat to the existing system was it ever stable to begin with? 🙂
No, it wasn't. And I'm tired of pretending that it was.
It’s weird to see people you care about scared of the lifeboat.
Bitcoin is not near as big of a threat as the fiat system is to itself. Bitcoin is just an escape hatch. Imagine believing you’re kidnapped and believe the key to your handcuffs is a threat. Fiat is peak Stockholm syndrome.
*Imagine that you’re kidnapped
being a threat to a bad system is not a bad thing.
Absolutely. I also find it helpful when talking to normies to point out how the fiat system is responsible for their pain, and bitcoin is a solution.
That’s the bit that gets tricky
