It’s gonna take more than 2 dozen of us fucking with it first of all

 Word
Good article, perfect intro for normies. I tend to bog down my articles with tech and jargon.

Adam and John are the only ones making a v4v living.

I would like to somehow break through and make a living as well.

Notice, the No Agenda show gets the majority of it's value from fiat, not BTC.

Until we can get normies to adopt a BTC v4v standard, it's going to be a long slog for us podcasters and musicians.
Yeah we’re over here in a very small corner of the ValueVerse playing with our Bitcoin.
Podcasters and musicians shouldn't be limiting themselves to just BTC. V4V can be in any form that people find valuable including BTC, fiat, art, suggestions, feedback, or any other type of contribution to the show. Sure, this tech makes it really easy for people to contribute BTC once they're in it, but some people might still prefer to contribute in other ways.
 Feedback doesn’t pay bills.

That’s just a barter system.

Musicians are professionals, so are writers and yoga teachers (like myself). While feedback is a part of the job, I want to pay bills.

With this inflation, more people will be looking for ways to make money, period. Main money. Side money. Money.

Nothing wrong with contributing in other ways. But I’m pretty sure kick ass artists who put in work like @Ainsley and @manlikekweks and @Joe Martin 🎶🟠⚡ would like to put food on the table, pay bills, have healthcare, and take time off like those who find “stability” in working for others.
The “I need to pay my bills” mindset when it comes to V4V is so off putting to me.
Few are paying a bill with #v4v right now.

The stage we are in is “holy shit, this is better than Spotify!”

What’s wrong with having money? Putting it to good use? There are services now like Bitwell and Bitrefill for those who need to convert to bill-paying currency.

Also, we are American. Think of what #v4v can do for someone in a country with hyperinflation like Argentina, Venezuela… @manlikekweks and I talked about how v4V literally pays his bills in Tanzania.
Also i am here to build a community that exchanges with each other. I don’t want a 1k sat zap for a meme. I want to do a 40k bag of coffee or 75k bag of jerky.
These examples are v4v as well its just disguised as commerce
It’s barter. I just wanna pay for stuff. Barter is ok, but doesn’t excite me. But I also offer services, not goods.
I’ll keep saying it till I’m blue in the berries, v4v never was and never will be just about money.

Adam and John made it about the money in the donation segment and imho the show tanked after that.
some podcasters get aggressive with "the ask" also.
For sure, can’t argue there. When the desperation seeps in, that’s when the milk sours for me.
So list everything it’s about if it’s about more than money.

Part of the money issue is creative freedom, as in having no advertisers.

Lemme go back to radio and talk over song ramps and play screaming car ads… where no local artists ever get played. Where no indie artists never get a chance…
Some would say time, talent, and treasure. Some would say lists should be avoided at all costs.

I recognize the following of equal and important value compared to financial support (I'm leaving a space with a mark for easy copy pasta, would you kindly respond with why you think money is of more value than what's listed).

In no particular order and incompletable, presented without commercial break...

Why fret over monetization and paying the bills when you can make a real bond out there with people that want more in life than just hanging out at Dave and Busters? As far as the radio mention is concerned, there was ample time to tune in being homeschooled. It didn't take a trip down to the crossroads to figure out it was all clear channel (at the time at least). Radio Nowhere etc etc. Empires come in, find "it", box "it", redefine "it", resell "it" to the masses.

I didn't start a podcast to pay the bills, I started a podcast have a hobby. Every week this is a money losing venture, and Hell yea brother hallelujah amen and awoman. If people wanna support you, it's not your responsibility to define what value is to them. Value for value is about making this the type of production you wanna hear (wherever terms may apply, see inside for details), pouring water into the things you want to see grow. Monetization, discovery, but how does it scale, nah. Those terms are ready and ripe for a good ole' scissoring right the fuck out of here. Snip snip.

/me plants pirate flag firmly, boldly but misjudges the angle of the pole, sending pointy end down puncturing the foot resulting in a realistic, bloody bizarre...and almost tragic depiction of a Tom and Jerry cartoon.

Fuck! I forgot to mention the Gal++ tattoo. As penance for the aforementioned crime of omitting something from a list, I'll share a bonus clip from the most important movie ever made in addition to the promised Bill Hicks drop.

These post tent to come off as cocky or arrogant but we believe in the V4V model that Adam Curry and John C Dvorak pioneered more than we do most other things and its the bedrock we are building on.

No amount of money could built the awesomeness that is liveislit.com https://image.nostr.build/83205cd2a77a69d6e827a1496c7f465a7ff5cf1bc49298156612b2f2b897327e.jpg
I will never understand how gifted, talented, creative people fight so hard to cling to the starving artist trope. 🤷‍♀️
Hm, ok pay me and change my mind.
You can have both you know 🤷‍♀️

Your art or community or hobby or whatever won’t be less because someone sends you actual money
Ooo you’re so close! I have zero percent issues with people being paid. What is cringe is making it all about money and pretending like it’s only thing of value to exchange.
I think it’s cringe to HFSP. I want MOAR #v4v podcasters and more artists throwing their music into the Valueverse.

I’m never going to tell an artist, who’s been reduced to dancing on TikTok and selling merch, that they can put their music online so someone can pay them with a drawing or some goofball inside joke stuff only the cult understands.

If y’all want to keep this space small and make it a forever hobby, that’s cool.

If y’all want to be entrepreneurs, that’s cool too.

I’m here to change a system that’s fucked me and so many others.
 Human Frontier Space Program?
 ?
HFSP, I search it and that’s what comes back. I don’t understand the reference.
Have Fun Staying Poor, as we Bitcoiners say to pre-coiners and no coiners.

You can get zaps and boosts in the hardest money on the planet, and why not?

Have all your “non cringe” goodies come to you and BTC too. Win win for you and the artists.
 zapped!

I've always generously zapped on @wavlake, @fountain_app, LN Beats, @tunestr and #Nostr

I've received generous zaps too due to @RadioDetox and Monday night #yogastr and general shenanigans on here.

I put my BTC where my mouth is.
Just downloaded the .csv from my helipad, this next boost I'm about to send brings me to a satany 6,666,666 sats. That's just from sitting at the desk with a node in a Super Nintendo encolsure, not factoring in any apps. Boostcli++ If I we're to factor in the apps and physically gifting someone sats as well, it looks like my mouth is right there along flapping with you.

Except your shit is fucked up, looks like you need some liquidity.

Thank you for the value. My song is worth more than that, send a bigger boost.
That is noise 🤣 worth less than the 1k I was trying to zap.

Thanks for being so welcoming though. I’m sure others watching will see this and think, wow, what a wonderful thing to be a part of 🧡💜

Nothing cooler than bullying someone who just closed a channel 🤷‍♀️

The cream will rise. Good music will receive fat zaps. If you’re mad my zap was small, make music. If you want more people in the space, maybe don’t talk down to them in jargon line you’re defending…what really?

Who sees this exchange and thinks this looks fun?

But you don’t want more people here, do you? You want to run off people like myself? I’m not going anywhere. Deal with me.
Nope, I want people like you to figure it the fuck out. That's all.
No, you want me to do it your way.

I came in here without the indoctrination. That seems to have ruffled some feathers.

And I’m just getting started.
Damn straight feathers are ruffled, I laid out exactly where that flag is (impaled but my foot). The repeated cult insinuations are a nice touch.

You absolutely came in with indoctrination. “But how can I get more eyes on this.” You’ve transmuted my point of “there’s more ways to support someone with money” into this holier than tho “I’m just getting started.”

Would you kindly refrain from referring to my music as simply noise, if it wasn’t valuable it wouldn’t be online.
 Whoops, *than with money.
Anyone can put anything online, this does not mean it has value.

Let the market decide. 🤷‍♀️ what a concept.

You still think it’s an either/or argument but do you, Boo.

Face it, we all sound like a cult and it’s not growing this thing. We need to do better. I’m willing. Are you?

Fighting like two dudes over who has the biggest swinging dick also isn’t getting artists paid, changing the music industry, or creating good content. Anyone watching this is watching you and me like Tyson vs Paul. And that was trash 🤣

And yeah, I will forever grow what I am doing, getting more eyes on it, onboarding more people. Not sure what’s wrong with that. But do you, Boo.

I welcome the fun 🤩 you don’t scare me.
Didn’t watch that fight, was working and also if anything this thread is way more Jimmy and Timmy. You’ve loaded this thread with innuendos and insults, bold move cotton let’s hope it pays off. This attempt of spinning my words into “intimidation tactics” is just weird. I don’t get it. But you do you too boo.

Still doesn’t change that there’s more ways to spread value than money. #stayhard #stayhungry
And still won’t change that artists want to get paid in money. And that there’s nothing wrong with that.

There was no need to get fragile about it 🤷‍♀️

Guess you didn’t expect me to throw it back? 🤣

Didn’t expect the new girl to have her own opinions? Cool, Boo.
Yea I heard you, starving fragile cult member etc etc. What I wasn’t expecting was the level of pettiness.

“Didn’t expect the new girl to have her own opinions”, can you expand on what it is you’re trying to get at here?
I don’t have to. People understand your projection.

To all who see this, especially women coming into this space, trying to do music or podcasting or whatever, please tag me when Boo or anyone else tries to come in here and argue with you about your take, bully you about your node, or argue that artists should just ask for barter rather than the hardest money on the planet. Or any money.

No one owns #v4v and what it’s about. No one owns #nostr or RSS. When new people come in, I will always welcome them.

To get offended to the extent you have it pretty telling.
same and PC 2.0 is feeling stale also with the "secret project" talk.
What is the secret project talk?
Dave and Adam from PC 2.0 have been working on a unreleased pet project.
Ahhh so they have been teasing that
But getting paid is the biggest issue, when artists slave for Spotify, it’s the disrespect.

After that, it’s discovery. Because labels and radio are fucking everyone.
I should pull out the “do a commercial…” iso and start just saying “feedback doesn’t pay bills”. Sounds effective.
Exposure also doesn’t pay the bills.
I’ll add it to the list, thank you!
Value 4 Value is the simple exchange of value for something equal in value in return. Some podcasts value art, feedback, and contributions as much as a monetary donation. You might value different things and that's okay. It comes down to what you value and your relationship with your audience. Some podcasts have kickass art that they wouldn't have if they had only asked for monetary donations.
And getting outside of podcasting, because #v4v is bigger than that…

Someone puts their song online. A digital good.

What are you going to do to give that artist Value? Go outside and milk your goat and pour that artist a glass of milk? They’re in a different city, you gonna mail them a glass of milk?
That comes down to the ask to your audience. You can ask your audience to contribute milk back as value, but I doubt many people will do it. Similarly you can ask them to only contribute BTC, but only very few people have BTC and many are hodling it during the ATH. I think it's better to ask them to contribute BTC, fiat, and whatever else you find valuable for your music or podcast. Ultimately, it's up to you to decide what to ask your audience to contribute back in value.
 It’s part of hyperbitcoinization though
