we're past the end of the year rush from people showing family and friends at holiday social functions. and in the phase of hectic season (taxes, crunch quarter/semester for school). combine that with things like meta dragging attention to their fediverse stuff. but beyond externalities, internally nostr still suffers from an echo chamber effect and an increase in relative toxicity as compared to twitter. A good number of those active pubkeys are likely also bots. real regular userbase is probably just a few thousand

La configuration des portefeuilles n'est pas très aisée je suis sur nostr depuis bien avant nostrica c'était très compliqué d'une part la création de profil ..puis une fois créé, il fallait rajouter cette notion de portefeuille qui n'était pas trop aisée pour les utilisateurs non bitcoiners de plus rien n'indiquait sur quel support web ou mobile ..rajouter à cela la nécessité de valider le profil en NP05...Toutes ces étapes en plus des outils construits au fur à mesure en plus des nids etc rajouter au fait de nos divers créneaux horaires je vous avoue il faut une énorme disponibilité et organisation du temps pour être participatif sur le réseau..En termes de diversité de contenus thématiques ded interactions ou sujets d'actualités sociales économiques, employabilité nous pourrions peut-être sortir de notre en soi afin d'alimenter la plateforme ....aborder certains maux ou difficultés personnelles sur des espaces confidentiels par exemple c'est aidant pour ceux qui en ont besoin ... J'ai pu remarquer des occurrences personnelles qui méritent un espace où elles peuvent être abordées, je ressens une certaine solitude chez certains les mots ont un sens.. L'espace est sympa, la dimension humaine l'est encore plus ..le partage de musique de mets, de pieds, de régime etc..est superbe sur un temps dans une sphère où nous n'avons pas les mêmes statuts sociaux, ni priorités avec en plus des constructeurs qui se démènent pour développer des outils pour cette plateforme de jour en jour, nous utilisateurs nous pourrions sortir de notre zone de confort pour rechercher dans nos expériences socioprofessionnelles de quoi alimenter la plateforme puis s'entreaider pour ceux qui sont en souffrance et l'exprime en ligne via des notes ....j'ai des idées dans cette thématique..il y a quekques catégories de nostriches qui pourraient se regrouper pour apporter un certain regard de quoi aussi alimenter la plateforme autrement de manière constructive sur tous les plans ..

Bonjour Vic désolée j'ai dû répondre à chaud sur votre note tout en rencontrant un bug récurrent et embêtant de nostr il arrive souvent qu'en faisant une note tout saute et on se trouve à la recherchant en vain ou recommencer..par ailleurs je pourrais éventuellement vous faire un retour objectif suite à mes diverses observations...qui pourrait nous tous nous être utile si voulu..autre remarque acceptons l'autocritique un point très important pour faire évoluer cette plateforme..Rien n'est personnel pensons professionnel pour *grandir voire faire évoluer cette plateforme qui pourrait être d'enfer car la vision collaboratrice des techniciens est exemplaire ment dans une démarche qualitative continue . Checks out. Ecosystem is losing momentum. I think the underlying Nostr protocol has merit. But client devs are out to lunch. Some need to be purged for sensible development and network effect to occur.

What a shame. A month ago, I didn't know what NOSTR was. I subscribed to the orange pill app which I heard about in a youtube video on Bitcoin. They actually have a NOSTR group in the app so i asked ... What is NOSTR? And about a month ago, I had to have someone (thank you "The: Daniel) walk me through setting up NOSTR, and even GetAlby all in one night. I really enjoy Primal and working on organically growing a good group of people on here. I barely go to FB or TW ever now and LOVE it! I will try my best to help folks understand and get onboard NOSTR. I have a lot of learning myself yet LOL. Take care all !!!

What defines an active pubkey? Posting? Reacting? Following? Request stuff from a relay? Coming from traditional social platforms where the participation is heavily induced with unfair psychological practices, I don't think it's necessarily bad if users gradually decrease a little the weekly activity. Of course I would like to see new users join and stay, with a moderate attitude.

Yeah, and this is daily, not even weekly. I think that's just healthy. I don't do social media daily, and when I do, it's nostr or video platforms. In my case, it's just healthy, to not feel the need to check all the time because you've got other important, enriching stuff that sometimes takes precedence.

The weekly trend reflects a 15% drop over the same period. The data comes from nostr.band and active pubkeys are those considered to have a non-zero trust rank which is influenced by nip05 settings from select providers and weights based on those pubkeys events and being mentioned in events.

That's gonna be a mix of people not preferring the platform over alternatives and people preferring to not do any social media for a while. I think those who give up on nostr are simply sorting themselves out. It's a free market for social media. Let them come to us when they are ready. Perhaps onboarding and key management can be made easier in the meantime. I understand Primal is pretty easy.

As I understand, centralized social media platforms use censorship algorithms to keep people constantly active. Since Nostr uses no such algorithm, perhaps it is beginning to have a somewhat adverse effect on some users, making them realize that social media use is, in no way, essential to there overall happiness. Or they may be just flocking back in droves to centralized platforms. 🤷‍♂️ Idk. I'm new to social media in general. But I have observed much paranoia in my small feed alone. I can only suspect that many were heavy social media users before Nostr had arrived. 🤔

bitcoin goes down some 70% every cycle after an ATH going to zero depends on flawed motivations for use of the network nostr doesn't tell you how to use it, nostr doesn't have a VC board or investors, nostr is driven by developers and these hangers on are not substantial in the real use of the network, some of us hardly even stop using it for 10 minutes

It's also nice weather season in a lot of places. 6 month looks less bleak. But there's been a lot of drama, hype, and monotopic recently. That has its effects. Lots "on break" and quite a few die hards quitting. I can't imagine how distasteful it must be as a newbie to come across any of the bigger conversations recently. 😅 I think anything that onboards with a default follow list should diversify that more... but I'm not sure how when content lacks much diversity. More focus on Communities could help people find their people & give an escape from the broad, heavy topics. But these are just observations. I'm just a hopeful user. 😊

I am a newby and I have no intentions to leave. But that's me. I read some conversations, some situationships but that's part of "human" behaviour, as I come to understand trough life. I can choose to give my 5cents or keep quiet, but never make it an issue of mine that will make me leave....Nostr is not everyone's cup of tea, people who like easier, algorithms and shit, will probably not stay long. I like to search and find my own stuff. I am highly curious, search and find keeps me interest

Agree, still better discoverability would be nice, which in turn will be easier when more people with different interests create content on on and for the protocol. Lack in discoverability = lack of incentives for interesting content creators. It takes a lot of effort to create a network effect.

I've been following the Ditto project, I'm hoping that brings some traction if/when it launches. When you have a seamless way to run both the Fediverse and Nostr at the same time, I wonder if it will cut down on that echo-chamber effect.

I am very active but my pubkey won't count as 'trusted' because I don't have an NIP 05 handle. Wow .. 10k users daily .. may be bunch of them are test pubs but still its an impressive cohort for such a short span of #nostr .. isn't it ? I still feel though the real use case is not social .. thats a beten path ..

That graph is sick as hell. Where'd you get it? That said; it's impossible to tell how many npubs are bots or real - so, always see those numbers as "biased". Too many factors are in this to tell for sure just how many there really are, except by calculating how many possible pubkeys can exist - and that is only a mere pointer still o.o
