This would probably be more fun. The last day of the month everyone goes wild and that leaves plenty of time for random impromptu ones too.

Historically, they were just incredible fun ways to stress test Wallet of Satoshi and Alby. We brought them down several times because we Zapped too hard. It was fun to try to break them while we spammed zaps to as many people or as many times as we could in a short timeframe. Lots of memes flowed, sats flowed, and we all had fun.
Maybe less often and use them as a time period to educate new users on self-custodial options.

It feels a little bit corny to phrase it this way, but it really depends on how deep down the rabbit hole you want to go. The best option for self custody in my opinion is to run your own node, but if you're not ready for that step yet there are definitely some intermediary options that you can take.
Custody, privacy, sovereignty… things work in levels Having sole custody of private keys in a seed phrase is the most accessible Verifying the timechain and your own transactions and speaking Bitcoin to the network (running a node) is the next level

So for instance, Zeus and Mutiny seem to be some of the top contenders for a more self-custodial style lighting wallet Both Zeus and Mutiny have some costs associated with setting up the wallet And that seems to be a turn off to some users, but that's kind of the price of dealing with lightning imo. Some people have moved to a wallet called Blixed, but I haven't used that myself, so I can't really vouch for it. Although I can say I have had issues sending to that wallet. I'm currently getting ready for work, so I don't really have time to answer anything super in-depth, but my DMs are always open if anyone has questions about stuff.

I think for sure around the Bitcoin Holiday calendar makes sense. Hodlween/White Paper Day, Genesis Block Day, etc.
I still zap ⚡️ frequently but usually target original content or news and nostriches that make an effort to engage in my silly content. Zapathons were a lot of fun but it seems like every third post uses that hashtag and the content is usually weak. It would be interesting if it was themed and we were actually zapping something purposeful.. like plugging a jukebox of #nostr “talent”.. or zap-raising for a development goal/cause. I have no idea if/how that would work or not.. I’m not that smart.

Yep. It's pretty much the same four accounts reposting the same shit that they posted last week and the week before and the week before... And everybody else got tired of zapping them. It stopped being fun a while ago. Some people need to post less, and more people need to post more. And it would be a good time for new users to post anything and get some zaps. Can we revive #zapathon? Maybe, but not if it's just more of the same old shit. I dunno man, I easily zap 3-5 times a day when I see content I value or someone doing something that I feel deserves rewarding. I don't really want to zap just for the sake of zapping. Is organic zapping not enough?
Yes, the high frequency is exhausting. At the very most it should be once a month, or better yet even less often. Two times a week is just too much and it breaks the feeling of exclusivity of the event. Also it's not enough time to generate new good content.

It's NEVER been about the amount. It's about the quantity. Less than 3000 have been sent today. We used to clear 10-15000 on non-Zapathon days 👀
