the universe will humble you in a minute’s notice
not 5 minutes after I posted my last note about selling my wife’s car, she calls me, hysterical, because she flooded out our only remaining car in the storm
she managed to pull it into someone’s driveway and got stranded there
I ended up taking a $50 Uber back home, which took 45 minutes.
Once home, I changed clothes, grabbed a headlamp and rain jacket, then rode my son’s mountain bike through 2-3 miles of floodwaters to meet up with my wife
we left the car in the guy’s driveway (with his permission) and walked our asses home, through the flood and rain
STAY HUMBLE
or get rekt
And your next plan is to buy an electric vehicle with low ground clearance? Interesting choice. May I humbly suggest an even mildly lifted pickup or large SUV that is over 25 years old, maybe 35 years old? It would solve most of this evening's issues, when used strategically. Mine is a '93 Suburban. Also an '87 GMC pickup. Either would likely be swept away by floodwaters before flooding out their motors.
I still live in the same town I grew up in, even the same zip code. My first vehicle was a '79 Bronco, lifted with 33x12.5" tires. I loved that truck and worked my ass off for it.
Ironically, I stalled it out during a summer flood in the '90s, just four houses down from where my wife nearly did the same thing tonight in our Toyota SUV. She says she got disoriented in the downpour and panicked, & headed in the wrong direction. I was just a teenage dumbass when it happened to me.
The trick with the summer floods? Avoid them altogether or wait them out.
As someone who grew up in an area with flash floods that claimed lives every year, not to mention plenty of cars, I agree. Don't drive in floodwater if you can avoid it. Doesn't matter if you mud bog on the weekends. When you can't avoid it, I'd still prefer to be in something with lots of clearance and minimal electrical requirements. And if it stalls, the starter is at the bottom of the motor, and is electric. So don't stall.
When does the movie come out? Sounds like enough action for awhile.
That is a crazy story. Hope things dry out soon. You’ll laugh at this sooner than you think. 🤙🏼
You should have just let her Uber home and stay there while you addressed the issue like a man.
In a flood, even the tow trucks aren’t running, much less Uber.
there was nothing to address last night. vehicle was stranded, surrounded by knee & waste deep water until this morning.
Just road the bike back to pick it up the Toyota. She started up, no addressable issues.
Didn’t you say you Ubered home and left her there? then both of you walked back in the rain. I would have been mad
Ooo I see you weren’t together I’m retarded
