Wow. This looks incredible. I joined a local group for disaster preparedness many years ago and of course Ham was a part of it. But no idea that this kind of relay system was in place. Makes me want to get a Ham radio/license. I have a technical question: the radio signals are transmitting emails? I was confused by the description of what is happening with it.
Is there a resource that provides an overview of all the ways these kind of efforts are available for commoners like myself to participate in? I’m thinking about things like Wikipedia as much as BTC and Nostr. I’ve played with Linux but the real value for me is in these community connecting efforts.
Remarkable the consolidation in languages that is happening worldwide. It feels like the ~7,000 languages spoken today will drop dramatically in the next hundred years. Guessing that the increasingly online world only accelerates this process.
I’m new to NOSTR but not to BTC. Absolutely love what NOSTR represents…but seems like a serious implementation problem when I’ve needed to input my private key into different NOSTR apps.
Just listened to David Reich on the Dwarkesh Patel podcast. Weird to think that your “ancestry” is largely based on the arbitrary comparison to a certain number of generations back. We are all related in the end.
It seems unarguable that data center energy demands will add to climate change. I think the counter argument is that AI may develop technologies that will mitigate climate change.
