As some voice hope for a Kamala Harris pivot toward a pro-Bitcoin stance, I find this implausible and will explain why I believe this.

Below I will have a look at Kamala's stand on taxes, energy and climate. First a glance at the Biden-Kamala constellation.

On March 9th, 2022, Joe Biden signed a document that involved the US government exploring CBDCs. The only way I can interpret this is as a plan to develop and implementing CBDCs. R&D does involve the 'd' as in development.

Next, it can be instructive to have a look at Kamala's tax policies from 2020, which are also largely mirrored in her 2024 position.

Here we find that Kamala had listed capital gains taxes on her policy document in 2020 and still support them in 2024. Not very bitcoin-friendly at all and a disaster in terms of the erosion of private property rights.

Next up we have the subject of energy and climate. As expected, the more aligned a candidate is toward the UN Agenda 21 and Agenda 2030, the more climate alarmism and de-industrialization policies we find.

This applies to the US, Canada, France, Australia, Germany, UK, Sweden, Norway and a host of countries that are pro-Agenda 21. Not a coincidence.

Ironically, Kamala's negative stance on US energy will likely boost Trump's campaign and he has been consistent in his pro-American energy position for 8 years, in spite of the coordinated MSM backlash.

In conclusion, considering the ideological foundation of the Democrats, grounded in the UN Agenda 21 climate alarmism, and with 6 years left to reach the Agenda 2030 climate goals, we can expect Kamala to reduce the US energy capacity of oil, coal and gas in favor of environmentally questionable solar and wind energy, resulting in a de-industrialization and possible energy rationing.

Since CBDCs are necessary tools to implement carbon allowances and social credit score systems, we can expect that any political candidate that is on board with climate alarmism, also see CBDCs as useful tools in herding (forcing) consumers toward eating less meat, using less gas, driving fewer miles with cars, travelling less with planes and using less energy in general, which, under her policies, there won't be sufficient energy anyway.

Bitcoin mining under this kind of energy rationing scheme would become pointless due to the skyrocketing costs of energy. De-industrializing a nation while also embracing bitcoin mining is not a compatible match. Can't work, won't work.

Trump's energy maximization plan however, is compatible with bitcoin mining at low costs. Without the climate alarmism ideology, Trump doesn't even have a use case for CBDCs, which by the way he is vocally against. Trump doesn't believe in social engineering applied by central planners to pressure people to stop eating meat or stop driving cars. He has rejected climate alarmism consistently for 8 years, in spite of global demonization and recently, an assassination attempt.

The deep state has shown itself aligned with climate scaremongering and this is the lithmus test I use to determine who is aligned with the deep state and who is not.

Are they pro energy or not?
Are they anti UN or not?
Are they anti CBDC or not?
Are they anti capital gains taxes or not?
Are they for individual liberties or not?
Are they for private property rights or not.
Are they pro bitcoin or not?

These are the questions we must ask.

It sounded as if people who are not programmers shouldn't voice feedback

Yet, even among programmers, some are jovial and others are pedantic, so I think the matter boils down to exercising a constructive problem-solving spirit, both programmers and non-programmees alike.🙃
No harm done, we all draw assumptions and we often don't have time to write an essay for every subject so there's always a number of possible interpretations.🫠
Learn a little code, try to build something, then see if you feel like critiquing the devs as much.
The important aspect is to offer relevant and helpful feedback. If users are going to spend time with an app it is important to listen to their experience, even if some of them may lack programming experience.

For those who have programming experience, being self-critical in order to improve a design is not much different from from sharing the same type of considerations with the designs of others.

It appears that Jack was swamped by government pressure groups, involving the CIA, while Jack was attempting to keep Twitter afloat.

Jack then embraced Bitcoin and turned around toward working with liberty solutions, allowing Elon to bring a new course for Twitter. Without Elon's capital backing, standing up against pressure groups and coalitions of advertisers would have been difficult economically.

There is no need to hate a man that has joined the liberty side. The existence of Twitter has been a net positive in spite of its censorship and Jack has provided the world with an additional option for social media when Facebook, Reddit and other alternatives were overwhelmed with establishment propaganda.

Nostr is the future, yet Twitter/X still has its role to play in advancing free speech, until it is overwhelmed by the attacks from the system.

During this period of *relative* liberty on Twitter, Nostr has a chance to evolve and be ready to accomodate individuals that will be silenced on Twitter over the coming months/years.

These are parts of a greater puzzle being solved as we speak.
 🙏

I think that Jack didn't have the capital to turn Twitter around by himself. Standing up against powerful government pressure groups must be tough economically.

In either case, if Jack is striving to benefit liberty here and now he's at least on the right path. I appreciate the work he has done to provide us with more options.

As the puzzle is playing out, we have to make the best out of the puzzle pieces we have available.

In years to come, 1000 sats will be sufficient to pay for a human-made artwork, a logo or some other service. Quite remarkable.
A few reflections from the recent 3 hour talk with Elon Musk and Donald Trump on Twitter/X.

Trump's main strength in my view is the energy sector. With a potent and competive energy sector, without unnecessary red tape regulations, electricity becomes cheaper to produce. The pricing of all goods, services and transports are heavily impacted by the cost of energy.

This is also a sector where Trump has no competition, except Vivek Ramaswamy who quit the presidential race. Both Kamala Harris and RFK jr both have a bad record on energy policy, related to beliefs in global warming doomsday scenarios.

Regarding Trump we have an 8 year historical record his support for the US energy sector, in opposition to the UN Agenda 21 policies that are fueled by irrational climate alarmism.

Overiew:

2017. Trump pulls the US out of the Paris climate accord. He says that it is "designed to kill the US economy".

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iI24uAdAYro

2020. At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Trump opposed the anti-energy policies that the WEF have an obsessession with implementing. Trump referred to the climate alarmists as "prophets of doom".

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0UiFRZ3t_KM

2021. On January 20, 2021, Biden signed the US back into the Paris climate accord. This was done on his first day in office, indicating that this was a high priority matter.

2023. Trump was critiquing Germany for closing its nuclear power plants and implementing harmful climate alarmism policies.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sJSr4tFkjcA

2024. February. Trump announces that he will not allow the creation of a CBDC.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=oUjMK8d6omo

In light of the above, it is reasonable to assume that Trump takes energy policies seriously and is willing to sacrifice his own reputation in the media in order to secure American energy interests. Without energy there is no civilization.

My main disagreement with Trump is his positive outlook on the mRNA vaccine development.

First I would like to clarify that I think it is a terrible idea to inject mRNA spike proteins into the human body.

Yet, as far as I understand Trump's position, his general stance is embracing medical competition and production, in an assumed societal environment where individuals can access medical treatments under informed consent and under a climate of free speech.

His support for Hydroxychloroquine in 2020 demonstrated an openness for experimental approaches on a voluntary basis, in spite of the demonization and ridicule from the mainstream media.

I do support medical freedom and my starting point is that all kinds of medicine should be available for purchase, including experimental treatments. If someone is seriously ill I can't deny them the option to choose an experimental treatment provided that they are aware of and have access to data that can reveal the risks involved.

The key issue here is to have a societal climate where free speech is in full effect and individuals can find and share opinions, experience and research that highlights the potential risks of any particular medication or treatment. This failed catastrophically during Covid due to online censorship and demonization campaigns.

The failings during Covid were legion and in particular related to central planning. I will here highlight two out of many points of failure.

1. Governments purchasing millions of doses of experimental vaccines for taxpayer money.

This is not how a free market operates. In a free market individuals buy their own medications based on their own personal judgement and estimation of risks to their health.

This also requires a genuine free market where all medications are available to consumers so that potential working solutions can be tested and spread via word-of-mouth recommendation. Banning certain medications or treatments is not a free market policy.

2. Presidents and government officials pressuring the public to take experimental vaccines. Add the demonization of critics and those who do not consent to a particular treatment.

Justin Trudeau is one noteable example of presidents during Covid that abused their position to stigmatize critics and create a climate in favor of mandated experimental vaccines.

These political pressures in turn caused corporations to fall in line with the government pro-vaccine position over inflated fears, both of the virus and also fears of government fines against companies that would not cooperate with government policy.

We saw mandated vaccines as a result with devastating effects on individuals living under immense pressure to take a treatment that could harm them, or face losing their livelihoods.

I could write more in depth here on these Covid-related horrors of central planning but I will leave all the deeper details for now.

It is entirely possible to support experimental treatments while at the same time not agreeing with tyrannical central planning mandates and accompanying censorship.

Allowing for experimental medicines comes with both risks and possibilities. Having a free market, based on indivudual liberties and informed consent, is fundamental.

Hence the importance of free speech. Without proper information of risks and a genuine ability to reject a treatment, we have no basis to formulate consent.

Very good note right here. The Olympic Games are a competition, not an exhibition.

I add that by...
Good distinction between competition and exhibition!

Considering how many impressive breakdancers that exist in the world, it is inconceivable that a mediocre breakdancer with a PhD in questionable social studies is awarded as the best female Australian breakdancer, and then inserted into the Olympics to signal some political point, just by pure happenstance.

They have turned everything into the realm of the political.

A staged exhibition based on some kind of idea of lecturing the public on how to *be* and *think* according to their measuring scale, without any regard for skilled breakdancers that are non-political and had no chance at demonstrating what they can achieve.
 Fair enough.

My view is that if breakdancing is added to a competition then at least there needs to be serious competitive rules by which the performance can be ranked. Without established rules there is no sport.
Thoughts on the breakdancing spectacle at the 2024 Olympics.

By critiquing "ableness", a performer does no longer have to compete via skill.

At that point it becomes a competition about being politically aligned (correct) toward the establishment.

In other words: woke.

Rejecting the idea of objectively measurable performance and skill has been a theme in postmodernism for a century.

If our ideology involves rejecting "ableness" or the idea of agreed-upon achievement rankings, then skill becomes irrelevant and ideological correctness becomes the only "game" hierarchy.

At that point we are asked to compete in ideological purity, not achievement.

This being said, I am not against abstract art and competitions that involve some amount of subjective evaluations. Even abstract art is impacted by aesthetic considerations.

Within every art genre we compare the quality of competing contributions. We rank competing submissions based on creativity, skill, vision, beauty and artistic achievement. We want the most impressive contributions within a genre to rank over the less impressive contributions. In short: meritocracy. Or at least some approximation of it.

Meritocracy is delibarately deconstructed under the banner of postmodernism. While we can debate which of two abstract paintings is more impressive, and while our criteria for a ranking an achievement can differ from person to person, we can only create *meaningful* genres of competition where we agree on the overall ranking criteria.

Every sport and competition requires vocalized and agreed-upon ranking criteria. If those ranking criteria involve ideological purity and not some acknowledged and demonstrable achievement then we have just made political correctness into a sport that trumps all other forms of achievement.

Let there be as many genres of competition as we can imagine, but let's not determine someone's achievement by their alignment to some ideological system. Peers compete against peers.

#Meritocracy #Postmodernism #Sport #Art #Achievement #Competition #Woke
 🙏
For painting, music, movies etc, we have genres and subgenres. Within each subgenre we compare competing expressions.

A genre or subgenre is, at the end of the day, defined by its audience, who determine the genre rules by voting with their wallets, attention and passion.

For example, within the fantasy comic book genre, every new book competes with the existing books that have set the standards.

Within classical music, a new composition is compared to existing compositions.

Within metal music, a new album is compared to other metal albums within the niche.

Within movies, a new sci-fi movie competes with existing sci-fi movies.

The same applies to art. A new abstract painting is compared with existing abstract paintings within its subcategory.

If a genre does not exist we create it.
I get the joke, but the underlying idea is braindead.

It doesn't really seem like a theory that I feel compelled to consider. I haven't looked at the video so perhaps I have missed some point or misunderstood the thesis.

I am critical of Ordinals and Luke's ordi-disrespector patch was a step in the right direction.

Yet it has also been interesting to see how this has played out. Fees went up at the time of this year's 2024 halving, only to go down to normal levels some weeks after. Recently we had 4 sats/vb tx fees, quite low.

I am not against the fact that *some* non-tx data can be stored on the blockchain. The important aspect is that the amount of non-tx data per tx is low. If we want to store non-tx data we should do that via other methods than the bitcoin base layer.

One interesting part of this whole matter is the highlighting of the fact that we can't scale bitcoin to 8 billion people via the base layer. Scaling to meet the needs of 8bn humans requires L2-L3's, from Lighting to Liquid, Fedi and other competing free market solutions above the base layer.

Of course, these signs would also be visible in a corporatist or fascist system.

The step between communism and fascism is basically the moment when Marxism fails economically (which it always does) and corporatism is inserted to provide a false charade of private property, while the government is still centrally planning society with a few more steps involved.

Taxation is theft. Government threatens force t...
 I wouldn't call voting immoral.
How about voting for a candidate like Milei?

Yes, we shouldn't be able to vote away other people's property rights or individual liberties but that is a problem of government power and overreach. Voting to reduce government power is never immoral.

The main problems are the monetary monopoly, central banks, moneyprinting and the large size of jurisdictions.

If jurisdictions are small enough and people can access hard money (bitcoin), the outcome of voting is largely irrelevant since people can vote with their feet and choose a better jurisdiction.

Proper competition brings about a game theory where jurisdictions have to attract capital and skills in return for liberties. This is the endgame of bitcoin as the best store of value.
 That's your evaluation.

By saying that it is immoral to vote, you take the stance that your evaluation overrides the evaluation of others.

People will evaluate voting differently.
The current system does not vanish just because liberty advocates stop voting.

The establishment does not care if the liberty right votes or not. In fact, they would rather that the liberty contingent does not vote since rigging elections is harder the more votes they need to rig.

Separating money from the state and voting with our feet and capital is the primary method of pressuring jurisdictions to align with individual liberties and property rights.

 Good post.

I grew up in Sweden in the 1980'ies and saw direct results of the failed politics from the late 1980'ies and onwards.

Whatever the future holds, we need a focus on hard money, individual rights, property rights and resistance to government central planning. The core of corruption started in our governments, central banks and the moneyprinting system.

The inflationary loop:

Politicians buy votes with promises funded by printed money. This causes an inflationary loop - voters will vote for the highest government spending, which also brings maximum inflation.

Going forward the pressure should be on critiquing the program code that steers society toward self-destruction.

Governments run on policies.
Policy is shaped by ideology.

I believe that the UN Agenda 21 that was signed 1992 by 179 nations in Rio de Janeiro is a root policy program that is running our governments via ideological beliefs.

The deep state is the main opponent to individual liberties.
I would define the deep state as the *persisting* state, the system of roots beneath the visible tree. When a new president or prime minister is inaugered, the root system does not change, it persists across elections.

As the deep state expands its powers, individual liberties are necessarily reduced. No single person have the depth of power as a deep state and it is possible that no person controls it - it may run merely on the aggregatw of self-preservation of the individuals it employs
British physicist Mike McCulloch has a profound point here.

https://image.nostr.build/cc97b2c59310eb8e9e057f5e67f0c9771607bdd3e2d32ed4d71fa76545501953.jpg

If his Quantised Inertia (QI) theory works out and can be utilized practically, the world will have access to unlimited energy without pollution.

Add that QI would power interstellar drives as well, allowing for practical expansion into space - a frontier that will create an unlimited number of jobs. Just at a time when AI will displace a large number of jobs.

QI theory gets rid of dark matter and explains previously mysterious anomalies that traditional physicists have tried to explain with inserting subjective amounts of dark matter here and there in order to make the observations match the data.

As the QI theory will become increasingly tested within coming years via practical experiments in space, an interesting lithmus test is forming:

How will the "environmental" movement react to Quantised Inertia if QI can provide humanity with abundant, pollutionless energy?

The cat is out of the box and ideas whose time has come cannot be returned to obscurity.

If Quantised Inertia works out, this will be the nail in the coffin for the UN Agenda 21 project and the climate doomsday preachers.

Quantized Inertia was inspired by Mike's insights from Oceanography. He was aware that boats close to the shore are pushed toward the shore because of the longer waves hitting the boat from one side, while the waves on the beach-side are shut off by a horizon that caused them to become shorter.

The principle follows from there: in theory we should be able to harness energy from quantum horizons and the acceleration that causes such horizons.

Applied to galaxies, QI can explain why galaxies hold together without inserting dark matter.

The principle behind this, as I understand it from Mike's talks, is that the Unruh quantum waves that exist outside of a galaxy are at maximum length, while accelerated matter shortens Unruh waves.

At the center of a galaxy is a black hole that accelerates matter towards it. The distance from the center of the galaxy thereby predicts the length of the Unruh radiation waves.

Close to the center of the galaxy the Unruh waves are shorter, due to the higher acceleration and the horizon formed by acceleration. The Unruh waves then gradually increase in length with further distance from the center until they reach the edge of the galaxy where the acceleration is lowest.

Since the longest Unruh waves push against the shorter waves, the galaxy is kept together without the need to insert dark matter.

The beauty of QI is that it is remarkably simple and can be tested practically, which can't be said about dark matter. Dark matter can be described as the establishment ethos - "believe this by decree and authority, not by proof of work".

QI can explain a variety of anomalies such as the orbits of binary stars where inserting dark matter doesn't even make sense.

We live in interesting times.

Yep, capitulation signals the bottom. This is the necessary prep work before the bull run can start. All excessive sell pressure must be exhausted before takeoff. Throw the ballast before rising.
I am terrible at chess, yet never had a bad time losing.

 Thanks for the zaps, followed!

Yup, losing is part of the fun and winning tastes better after an array of complete losses.😄
Bitcoin is for individuals that are able to take a beating without stressing about it.💪
I started playing some online chess recently. As a terrible chess player I was slaughtered in game after game, expectedly! The harder the challenge the more the allure.

One of my few wins was interesting (image above). I played as the white side and at this point in the game I had lost both my rooks and the opponent had a stronger piece lineup.

My strategy was to advance my Pawn from D6 to D7 and then the plan was to move my Bishop from F1 to H3, combining an attack together with my Queen placed at A4, toward his King. I was ready to sacrifice a few more pieces if nessary.

The idea played out well, perhaps due to my opponent being at a similar level as myself. I threatened his King and managed to take out both of his two Rooks, after which I could decimate his pieces step by step, with a couple of losses on my side.

This was a game that I thought I was on the verge of losing and it was stimulating to execute a comeback.

I didn't see any chess discussions here on Nostr, so here's an absolute noob posting, hoping to see interesting chess content from more advanced players.

Cheers!

Thanks man, I fought for my life! 😄
 Also another thought.

If the US bought 1M bitcoin and the price appreciated to $20M per coin, that would be a strategic reserve worth $20 trillion. If there is a way to combat the national deficit, it's bitcoin.

Art tutorial for promo renders, part 1.

Eye-catching promos are essential when it comes to demonstrating the merits of a product. Showcasing how a 3D figure can be used for art concepts helps the viewer to conjure up their imagination and be inspired to create art.

Another dimension of promo art is informing the consumer about the product and visualizing what they can do with it.

In the example above I placed this female character in a Conan type of setting and adjusted her pose to a casual, reclined position, gripping the throne with her left hand. The underwear that I applied to her did not fit the character properly, due to it being from a different generation. This is a common issue.

I fixed the underwear problem in GIMP by first using the Free Select Tool to cut out a copy of the underwear to a separate layer. Then I used the Warp Transform Tool to nudge the pixels where I wanted them. Lastly I trimmed the selection and used both the clone tool and a general paintover to fix the areas that needed a rework.

Finally I needed to improve the lighting. I decided to light up the area to the left around the incense burner to increase the contrast and bring some life to the image.

I started by using the Free Select Tool to meticulously select the area I wanted to impact. After the selection was done I proceeded to brighten the area and applying a slight bloom effect.

In the last stage I like to use ON1 Effects for the final postwork since I'm not fully familiar with GIMP as of date. But any application where you can increase contrast, improve/change saturation, balance the levels sliders and apply a circular edge toning/darkening are useful. Nothing beyond the basics is necessary. Of course, never use tools that change the product you are demonstrating.

With applications like FilterForge you can design your own postwork process by connecting and micromanaging nodes where you can plug in user sliders. It may just render a bit slow at higher resolutions so that's an inherent limitation.

Thanks for reading. If you are a GIMP user feel free to comment with tips that you use in your postwork process. While I enjoy using other tools as well it is great to promote free and open source software like GIMP.

A bit strange that the teacher assumed that you hadn't authored it yourself.

A short anecdote.

I remember back in the late 1980'ies, I used to connect with BBS's and had online chat with friends. One guy used to write jokes and share with me and I would also share him the jokes I had written.

Then one day in class, another friend of mine who was also into BBS's, shared a list of jokes from our mutual online friend, and he read them out loud.

When I heard that one of my jokes was included, I mentioned that I wrote it (I didn't expect people to find it that funny).

The hilarious backlash was that some angry person started saying that I was trying to steal the credit for a joke that I myself had written some weeks before.

The moral of the story is that information is local. What people hear first will often impact their perception.
Heh, it was a learning experience.😄

I think my friend had just assembled a list of jokes that he thought were good and he didn't claim authorship for all of them.

But as the jokes were presented, there was an assumption that he was the author of the whole list.

We have to go by what we see and as a result we will draw different conclusions based on our information.
