@a9012b08@72348206 Not really, you're just biased.
They could've made CS:GO its own entry and disabled the inventory system, so you'd have no skins and what-not, but what would be the point, it's a game that will no longer see updates.
Historically what they've done is make old versions available as branches to download, whenever they've made breaking changes to any of their games.
You can still play CS:GO, it's not quite as convenient as it used to be, but you still can.
@a9012b08 You literally can, I have done so after the release of CS2. Alternative(not run by valve) matchmaking systems are still running that offer CS:GO servers.
@72348206@a9012b08 it's the next evolution, the inventory is deeply integrated with the game, and I think 99.9% of players would prefer of their existing items transfered over to the new one, so the old game can't possibly live on as it did.
They archived the last build of cs:go so it's really available if you want to watch old demos or play old maps.
It's a very reasonable strategy.
@a9012b08 sure, OBJs are very basic and I've used them in my own engine projects. I just haven't experienced any problems with gl(tf/b), all the tools I use allow me to pick and choose how much I import/export, and that's nice.
I was just curious.
@a9012b08 I am confused. Who do you need to adopt it in order to use it? All the engines and tools I use support it just fine. If you're implementing it yourself, you don't have to support all of it.
