 @e39146c2 That's one of the problems. Yes, the format allows (And will do even more) to handle lots of things. However, this is totally dependent of the software you are using. If i see a .obj file i know exactly what it contains dependently of the engine. 

And yeah, it affects creators too. Exporting assets for this kind of all purpose formats is getting more and more bloated.

But that just one man opinion, isn't it? 
 @a9012b08 sure, OBJs are very basic and I've used them in my own engine projects. I just haven't experienced any problems with gl(tf/b), all the tools I use allow me to pick and choose how much I import/export, and that's nice.
