It would be really nice if I could go a day without my internet randomly cutting out.
It was rock solid for so long, but over the past month or so, it’s been terrible.
Are people still talking about the Vision Pro?
I don’t see anything about it anymore.
But, to be fair, I don’t pay as much attention to Apple focused outlets like I used to.
@bddb582d I dig it.
Personal preference, but I think you could have more than one full length post on the homepage and it would be a net benefit.
If you had, say, three full length on the homepage, you’re unlikely to have too much vertical scroll before you hit the footer and the people that make it to your homepage to see more of what you do can immediately read your recent articles without having to click through to another page.
@f0f37266 it’s confused several times when trying to adjust volume in my pocket. But I haven’t found it difficult to press.
Biggest issue I’ve had is figuring out how to get the most usefulness out of it. All of the things that seem like natural fits have easy access in the OS through other methods that are hard coded — flashlight and camera access from Lock Screen, for example.
There isn’t much that I want quick access to at all times that I can’t already access easily elsewhere.
@54bdfd68 there should be no option to bypass the user setting.
If there is an alert that’s capable of doing so, that should be listed in settings and, preferably, an option to disable those as well.
@92b07012 you can also just disable it, right? I’m pretty sure the options at the bottom of Settings > Notifications does it on iOS and I imagine similar options exist on Android.
Just setup a shortcut for the action button.
It checks if audio is currently playing. If there is audio playing, it pauses it.
If audio isn’t playing it will start playback of my go to station in Broadcasts.
@8714de25 I complained to their support team when I noticed that the feature was listed as “recommended”.
I don’t necessarily mind it being an option, but it definitely shouldn’t be framed as a security issue or be listed as “recommended”.
I’m more than a little annoyed that they haven’t changed that.
@Karnage I was once sent two iPhones from AT&T when I only ordered one.
I tried to return it to my local AT&T store, but the manager basically told me that he didn’t have anything in his system saying he’s supposed to take it from an inventory standpoint. It would just sit in the store safe for weeks/months and his district manager would make a big thing out of investigating where it came from.
In the end, he told me to just keep it.
@53c578bc when a user deletes their account, don’t actually delete it for 30 days. During those 30 days, the account is deactivated — appearing as deleted for all intents and purposes.
If the user logs in during that 30 day window, reactivate the account.
Continue to offer the option to delete immediately but make it difficult to find.
@f0f37266 I type fairly fast, so that could be a contributing factor, but the speed of my typing has never felt like a bottleneck to my work.
I think typing well is simply a function of doing it frequently. I don’t think you necessarily need to come out of high school as an excellent typist. As long as the school introduces typing and spends some time on it, the people that will need it will manage from there.
When I graduated high school, my typing speed was maybe half of what it is today.
@f0f37266 but I think there’s plenty of room to learn typing, printing, and cursive.
I think we as a society tend to underestimate the value of handwriting and cursive in general. Not just the fine motor skills that it brings but how writing/typing in different ways can help you think differently about problems and come up with different solutions.

@f0f37266 I ended up with natural. Based on the videos I’ve seen from the hands-on area after the event, the white is too light and the natural is too dark compared to the silver MacBook. But the lighting in that area is so bright and the room is just white tables and floors — it’s hard to say for sure.
@394b5c0e there’s very little changes from year to year.
I’m getting a new one because I want more storage, new battery, and better camera for the little one we have on the way.

iPhone 6S
iPhone 8
iPhone 11 Pro
iPhone 13 Pro
Every two years like clockwork. I’m likely ordering the iPhone 15 Pro soon.
I ended up switching to Nobara — installing GPU drivers and running games through Proton are pretty much seamless.
I haven’t been able to get VNC working, though. So I’m stuck using RDP for now, which isn’t supported by my preferred app — Screens.
Hopefully, once I have the system setup, I can use SSH for most of what I would want to do so the lack of VNC isn’t so annoying.
@3bbe8aaf you *might* be out of luck. But your best bet is to fill out the account recovery form with as much as you can (not everything is required):
https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery
That form will put your message into a special queue where you’ll hear back from someone on the account recovery team.
@Eric Zhang i found that they do have support for it — I see this on the 15 Pro’s tech specs page:
> Video mirroring and video out support: Up to 4K HDR through native DisplayPort output over USB-C or USB-C Digital AV Adapter (model A2119; adapter sold separately)
https://www.apple.com/iphone-15-pro/specs/
No idea if there is latency like the Lightning video output has, though.
