I used 5 1/2” of foam. Got it to a little over R-25. I also went with a huge A/C. It went from 72 to 35 in about an hour when I fired it up so I think it’ll be good. Still curious if it can keep up on a triple digit day.
Yeah I’m curious about that too. This is a door I got from a job for free and thought it’d be cool if I could look at the meat without opening the door. We’ll see how it goes.
They’re pretty tasty. I always did them with tallow, salt, pepper, and lots of fresh garlic in a Dutch oven until tender. Cook time is probably comparable to something like beets.
It works great. I live in wildfire country and used to be a Wildland firefighter. It helps me monitor fires close to my property without too much noise. Great filter options so it doesn’t blow you up constantly, but alerts me when there’s a fire I need to keep an eye on.

Irrigation water began flowing for the season this week. There’s absolutely nothing like it. Water making its way through the high desert, bringing life to everything it touches.
