My favorite little note from the guidance to 2024 #DnD Backgrounds was tucked into the video preview of the Greyhawks section - connect Backgrounds to the game world.
The 'Spies Goodbye' in season 3 of Agents of SHIELD is one of the best approaches to writing characters out of a superhero/spy series ever.
Bobby and Hunter should have gotten their show.

Lots of #DnD companies and players are seeking ways to add Feats to Backgrounds, but for me the more interesting space is to add Cantrips to Backgrounds.
That Farmer? They should know Druidcraft.
The Smith? Produce Flame
The Urchin? Prestidigitation
If you want a "broad magic" fantasy world give everyone a non-combat cantrip

I know this isn't completely new. It leans into Eberron
But broad magic doesn't have to result in noir.
We have broad tech and cyberpunk wasn't the result (or was it?).
It felt very good to cry at Megan Rapinoe's retirement. We went through some times together and I'm a better person for having worked alongside her for that season.
A prompter who claims to be an artists said to me
"Digital art is new"
Like, what reality are they in? New for geological time? Sure. But it's older than they are
Well, the first Kickstarter I'm a writer on has funded and hit stretch goal one.
I'm on the Backgrounds portion of this Level Up Kickstarter. I'm enjoying learning a slightly new system (it's a 5e #DnD variant) and I *LOVE* the greater connections to story available through it.

We're nearing the point where the Galeoni (sharkfolk) are released.
And I think due to word count, we'll have another Background centered on the sea too.
Per my friends at Ride of the Valkyries, OL Reign are less than 3,000 tickets away from exceeding the NWSL single-match attendance record for Friday night's final home match of the 2023 regular season.

@f1c5f59f the playoff hopes were never gone.
There was a point where even with their poor run of form lasting to the end of the season they would finish 8th
The West is so mediocre
Me: I'll bring these extra cake bites to the office so I don't eat so many.
Also, me: I've eaten more of the cake bites than anyone else at the office.
@fa688f27 six unbeaten and people are still down on the team. I don't think they'll care if the team earns six points this weekend too.
Second place is now considered failing.
#sounders fans
A win and they're in the playoffs.
That win will have to come when they're down Morris (wife gave birth), Rusnak (illness), Nouhou (suspended) and Ruidiaz (back injury during warmups)
@097804f6@db9d959d I have a one-sheet for the campaign rules, goals. Then I have a two-sheet I call "Common Knowledge" for every character in the world (it's mostly true!).
That's it for the entry point to the homebrew. More than that and people ignore it.

One of my players made a basketball-rugby hybrid.
There's a version of town ball.
The most magical land has a more athletic Welters (the magicians)
Maybe they'll even survive the Armies of Darkness. The final dragon they are fighting has an army of enchanted beasts with spells and the dragon's name in the common tongue is Darkness.
This final battle is massive. If the supporting militia falls, then the group will be overwhelmed quickly.
Oun and Obscon, the Twins of Endings, watch the battle, ready to guide souls on their next path.
What started as a simple quest to evict a corrupt mayor in a city at war with itself ends at Kirtin-in-the-Sky with an ancient dragon named Darkness attempting to avenge the losses of their flight and to rip the magic that leads to the love between dog and person from the land.
Tomorrow is the finale of a two and a half year #DnD campaign. They will have delved dungeons, discovering the pre-legend past when the continent was shared by all.
They will have slayed dragons, five of them!
They will have spread knowledge and magic to the common people -- who know use cantrips to live better lives.
They will have lost friends and companions.
Maybe they'll even survive the Armies of Darkness. The final dragon they are fighting has an army of enchanted beasts with spells and the dragon's name in the common tongue is Darkness.
