Well well well, this is quite interesting. I'm very curious just how easy this is. If this could be done on a small scale safely then home kits could be made. The key part is:

The trick to their method: Instead of leeching with an excess of citric acid like conventional methods, they use a relatively small amount. Because of this, only two of the three acid groups in the citric acid dissociate.

The released protons break up the lithium-oxygen bonds, releasing lithium ions from the NCM into the solution. Bonds between the other metal ions and the oxygen ions are also broken. Nickel, cobalt, and manganese enter the solution, where they are bound into stable complexes by the citric acid anions.

The third acid group of the citric acid then reacts with the hydroxyl group on the same molecule. A ring closure occurs in an intramolecular esterification (Fischer lactonization) reaction. This facilitates the reaction of the intermediates with each other to make a polyester, which gels into solid particles that can easily be separated out. Energy consumption and CO2 emissions are significantly less than in conventional hydrometallurgical recycling processes.

 Morning #Nostr

Yesterday morning was a bit rough for my little man who was a STUD at the #dentist for his tooth pull. No numbing gel just straight to the needle, then the tooth had outward angled roots shaped like fans that seriously hurt despite the numbness. Healthy does of Ibuprofen and he was good to go to school.

I'm in love with my new keyboard. Finally quality! The SSD is slowly getting repopulated with my backed up data but it is taking forever. I got the cooler cleaned out of the trash produce but was surprised to still have a big tub of celery that is good.

I'm FINALLY going to be getting my S19 from @Kaboomracks and it looks like it will be a bit better than what I had ordered, the 29.5 J/T instead of 34.5J/T which is just that much more efficient but still puts out a ton of heat to warm the greenhouse.

Quite the rain day yesterday which kept me inside for most of it. I got my hard drive shipped off for diagnosis and have my replacement SSD arriving today along with a real quality keyboard for once in my life. In the afternoon I managed to get my computer t orecognize the NanoNVA and I was able to start running tests on my smaller #hamradio #antennas. This was the output from my 2m whip antenna centered on 145 mhz. Lots to learn this winter!

Got in a great #paragliding #flight yesterday mid day, my longest at the site and my second longest ever. Had some great learning during the flight and felt solid and comfortable the whole time.

The shit hit the fan in the evening when my 1TB internal HDD fucked off and died. I ran every forensics program I have, plugged it into every box I have, nothing. SO ENRAGING!!!!!!! I am taking the drive to a recovery service today to see if the data can be salvaged. Thankfully it was mostly backed up so not everything is toast, just the past 3 months worth...

Up and down the tree I went yesterday in my climbing spikes but the damned tree wouldn't go over. I'll make it go today no matter what. Finally got our Starlink back up and going in the morning so I could get my miners all started up and hashing again. Thankfully I have my chiro appointment this morning to help relieve some of the super soreness.

I found the next trees to come down on the hillside yesterday and the rounds should end up in the sheep pen at the base of the hill once they are bucked. Will be a long trundle for them. Got the rounds of lodgepole pine split and stacked so we have room to split and stack the dry fir in the wood cover. I'm hoping my pain level lowers today to allow me to work since it had me up at 3am this morning.

 Hi again #Nostr
Busy day yesterday trying to get a bunch done before the rains hit. After the predawn grain run I got junk hauled then the wood rounds stacked to cure for the winter. I've got lots more room nearby for more stacks and a lot more trees to come down. The feed bags worked perfectly to line the underside of the wood cover and should do really well over winter.

Kind of a throw away day yesterday, at least for being productive. The assemblies took up much of the day but are important for us to go to, the boys love seeing us in the crowd. It's always nice when the Superintendent comes and makes it a point to say hi to us.

Playing with Jan now and I'm finally finding some uses for the AIs. The best thing is having them offline so I've been able to mess with them without our internet working yet.

I did get a bit of time late in the day to toss, trundle, and throw the wood rounds down the hill into a pile where I will gather and haul them today. Last day before the rains hit so I have to get as much done as I can.

Got more trees limbed and bucked yesterday then hauled the nice dry rounds to the wood cover. I've got oodles more trees that I can take down and cut up but am going to have to build a curing rack most likely as I am limited on space in the wood cover.

Our youngest's 8th birthday and he had a great day. I still have to setup his tablet for hiim today which he is super stoked for.

Well smack my ass and call me accurate #nostr! That tree landed EXACTLY where I wanted it to go. The thing had a 10°+ lean UPHILL but the branches were all to the downhill side. Sometimes I manage to impress myself, and that is a hard task most days.

Now as soon as the boys walk in the house I will send them up to trundle the rounds down the 90ft slope so I can load them to haul to the wood cover. Trundling is a core memory of my childhood and they will have it too.

In the interest of saving myself grief later when the ground is frozen I took advantage of the still warmer temps to get the yard cleared by the patio yesterday. The Orgeon grape had gotten to scraggly and was right under the drip edge for the roof. I'd been meaning to do this for years so it's nice to have it done. Apparently there was something going on around the country but I ignored it the best I could all day long. Fuck the election I'm watching hockey.
One hell of a storm yesterday. It seriously dumped for a couple hours mid day which did a nice job of watering in all the garlic. A quick trip to the dentist for R in the morning as the storm hit full force then in the afternoon I got the parts for the battery box for the Dino costume which J umped into the moment they were home from school. The corn got removed from the cob though I did lose a few ears to mold, I still got about 5 pounds of kernels. Now begins the freezes so I have to make sure the farm is fully ready for it today.

Spent the morning yesterday working on soldering fixes and lipo pack builds, some of which are for my #meshtastic nodes. I got the solar panel late so will try it out today despite the rain. The sky flood ended by noon yesterday and put us at 1.75" for the storm. We ended up in town mid day at Lilac Lanes for brunch and #bowling before heading back to the farm. The boys helped me get the rest of the #garlic planted so I am at over 1000 in the ground. In the evening I hefted all the potatoes to the basement to keep them cool and dark which opened up a ton of space in the living room.

Yesterday was a serious mixed bag. After my predawn grain run I moved our Starlink antenna like they were suggesting for better signal and after the move the antenna is dead. Refuses to talk to the router.... and ZERO help from Starlink so far. Rather unimpressed.

I DID get the roof extension built for the patio though which I have been wanting to do for years. It works wonderfully now and has the drip edge much farther from the concrete and is minimizing the splash back towards the door. Snow load will be my only concern.

My garlic has FINALLY shipped 3 weeks late and nostr:nprofile1qqsq230nk8uqu78lk2ldcq9p8eqmp4qghq2x67tz0nyzcr09lpup87qpzamhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumn0wd68ytnzv9hxgtc8j0yhr still refuses to respond regarding my order...

I'm more hands off the sheep for the most part. They get round bales moved into the pen and I dump loads of spent brewing grain out for them to devour. I wish I had actual pasture they could graze but I have to feed year round. I'm preparing to butcher at least 2 this winter and my old ram is looking a bit on the backside of life.
My land is very rocky so their feet stay prettty good most of the year. I will give them a dose of Iver usually once a year.
It took my a while to finally get to it but the greenhouse is now in winter mode. Got 13 pounds of produce from the remains and a couple things are still growing in the soil. If @kaboomracks ever figures out my order I might be setting up for winter growing...

I reflashed all my #Mestastic devices and got my channels all setup I thiink correctly and am now trying to make the admin channel work for remote management. I need it mounted up on the hill and not down in the hole by the house or else the line of sight would be negligible.

My last 3 varieties of #garlic should be shipping today so I can finally get them in the ground, a couple weeks late.

I DID IT! I got the stump removed and the ground leveled back over the top of it. That stump had been staring at me for well over 4 years now and boy did it put up a fight. Over 12 sections had to be cut free since the root base is still 4 feet across below my cuts. This is by far and away the largest stump I have had to deal with.

I have to order a solar panel for my #Meshtastic node so I can get it mounted up on the hill in hopes of getting a better range compared to down here in the hole by the house. The battery pack I built for it will last for a few days so the panel should do well at keeping the batteries topped off even in winter.

 Hallo #Nostr

We had success at the ski swap in Spokane and both got boots and I another set of tele bindings. We are now ready for the snow to DUMP. After breakfast in Deer Park we just missed the incredibly huge crowd arriving for the Pumpkin Lane walk through town. Rain is here so I had a number of things to do to get the farm ready for it and the sheep hut was a rather important one. The wood on the roof is trash so the tarp will do to keep them dry this winter. I'll replace the roof eventually.

Get a couple or more to play with even with no one nearby. I have mine setup and no one within line of site, but like the old saying, "build it and they will come".
Not the best of days yesterday as my body went into the yearly Fall nosedive. The quick lack of sunlight causes my body to turn on itself and my eczema goes into hyperdrive. I'm dosing Vit D quite heavily to try and bounce out of this if possible. Fortunately I keep prednisone on hand for just this sort of occasion. Now I am starting to understand the people who bolt to Scottsdale every Winter.

It did give me a chance during the day to find the tools I will need for building LiPo packs, so I guess there is a tiny bright spot.

Yesterday I've finally started breaking #LiPo packs down for the cells after finally seeing a good video on it. My first goal is to build a 6volt pack to use with my #Meshtastic node, a substantial pack. I'll have it solar charged but want the big pack with to make sure it can get through the long winter nights.

Went out and limbed and bucked one of the trees that I felled then loaded it and the dry rounds into my truck and dumped them by the wood cover in the yard. The live rounds will cure over winter while the dry are perfect for burning in the house now.

I spent my afternoon pulling apart all the heads of #garlic to get a count and prep them for planting today. 794 cloves from the 10 varieties and I still have 3 more vafieties shipping soon. The S19 is ordered! I have to do some electrical work to get the 220v to the greenhouse but I have the wire for it. I just might be able to heat the whole greenhouse this winter.
I run my gate opener with a single solar panel, car battery, and a solar charge controller. This is the one I have and it has done just fine keeping the battery from discharging too far even in the middle of winter.
https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61IJQfe+3QL._AC_SL1000_.jpg
Pretty sure most controllers have it built in.
The first deep freeze of the season hit and the leaves on the trees spent the day raining down with each little breeze. The #garlic garden is nearing ready to plant and I will have at least 10 varieties planted by the end of the day tomorrow.

I'm going to get an S19 for the greenhouse heat this winter. The S9 did well last winter but the heat from the S19 will be a lot more. I will be putting my pots on a table and the S19 will sit beneath it so the heat keeps the table and pots warm all winter long.

The gardens got torn down yesterday and glad I did as it is 25F this morning. I have finally dialed into the timing as prior years I didn't get winterization done in time. The ground has to be exposed for Spring thaw to happen correctly, I've learned the hard way.

50 pounds of celery is in the cooler and I found them to be on the smaller side since I didn't thin the seedlings. Lesson learned and next year I will make sure to have just one plant per spot.

Foraged wild blueberries don't have the daily water to plump the berries like farms do. Hence the higher flavor in wild over farmed. Same as strawberries.
We got a nice bit of much needed rain which stopped by morning yesterday. As I pulled tomato plants and weeds in the greenhouse one of the pepper plants came loose so I potted it up and it is looking great this morning in the house.

133 pounds of potatoes dug from 4 rows over the day. It makes 215 pounds of the late spuds and I have a couple short rows still to dig. I'm only at 902 pounds for the year and not likely to hit my 1000 lb goal, but lessons learned so next year will be better.

In those 6 days I would have made about 7000 sats on the Braiins pool, now i can buy far more than that with the $65 block reward.
