#grownostr #solar is a car battery considered a flooded battery with a solar charger? How do you ensure you don’t drain the battery too much? Voltage level? I have a battery Bluetooth that will tell me the charge levels. Just replaced my van battery and am using that for the battery bank solar.

Any other considerations that I should know? Thanks! https://image.nostr.build/ccb4b915be44924d0db9b531d78b39269770b91d05c40591b7bc0e5cdbc0f88e.jpg https://image.nostr.build/67b0073d18d5e3477a95710fe6641edf267e9e9968e0f5931ee638f668dea943.jpg
If that's a standard lead acid car battery you will see 12.8v when it's fully charged, 12.4v at 75% and 21.1v at 50% - don't use it if it's at 50%, you'll damage it. With the solar running in you may see up to 14.8v while charging, are you using a charge controller? That'll tick it over to top up at about 90% full, and you'll see the voltage go up and down while it's on float charge
Thanks, yes using a charge controller.
Controller wasn’t working, then read that you connect battery first, then solar. Today the battery is working great.
I run my gate opener with a single solar panel, car battery, and a solar charge controller. This is the one I have and it has done just fine keeping the battery from discharging too far even in the middle of winter.

OK so it’s just built into the controller when to stop using it?
Pretty sure most controllers have it built in.
