Assuming one with a #devops background would like to support Nostr by running infrastructure, what's the best way to do that?
If step 1 is running a relay, what would steps 2 and 3 be?

For someone to constantly make such an ass of himself, one wonders if it was completely ego driven or what he was promised and by whom to do what he did.
Sleep and activity tracking, including mapping routes to calculate distance, without linking ID to either seems important.
Oura-like analysis to summarize data into suggested actions could be pretty nice to have too.
Post-2018 my crypto twitter feed quickly filled up with "revolutionaries" calling for tradfi institutions to save crypto, which quickly became web3 when the VCs took over.
Add to that over the past 12 months or so, culminating today, these same "radicals" celebrating the incoming US government administration for saving crypto.
Fortunately my #nostr feed is free of such nonsense and that's why I'm here.
Cash app worked well for me on #calyxos for quite some time. I finally ditched cash app though after one too many card compromises and their well known non-existent support.
After setting up an account, what are the 2-3 most important things a new Nostr user should do, e.g. pick a relay list, run their own, relay, etc.
Contrast this to traditional social media apps that force you to pick topics and accounts to follow.

I'd like to see a way to get perspectives into my feed that are contrary to my self-confirmarion bias. Not quite sure how that would work here yet would still like to see it.
I carry frankincense with me for grounding purposes. Dialogue from people one row behind me when I broke it out at an MLB baseball game recently...
"you smell that?"
"yeah that's one of those oils..."
"yeah, it's that eucalyptus stuff..."
"right, they spray that stuff in the stadium now...."
"yeah, they're spraying that stuff everywhere!"
Posting this here because it's first place since then I've come across that this story would even remotely come close to connecting with...
How easy/hard is it to connect a #ledger to #qubes these days?
The docs I've found seem quite outdated. So it's either become quite trivial or so hard that people have given up.
Second best and related, how easy/hard is it to connect a ledger to #ubuntu?

I like the idea however have mixed feelings about bringing a computer outside. I guess if it is time I would have spent inside, that I can now spend outside, this could be beneficial. It does look great particularly for long form online reading.
I've found the copy and move to other Qubes feature super convenient, once eI discovered it. Is this what you're using to move files among Qubes or have you found another way?
TradFi and centralized crypto institutions -
"We need all your private and confidential information to open an account. Don't worry, we keep it safe and are blah, blah, blah certified..
Also these institutions -
"Oops we got hacked and your private and personal information got leaked to the dark web. Here's a couple months of free credit monitoring. (Now go away and don't ask any questions.)"
Say one lives in an apartment in an urban area. What would you suggest as the first security and performance upgrade to a setup that uses the provider's wifi router, hardwired to two separate wifi routers, one for my work and the other for the family stuff?
I grew up in a Roman Catholic household, rejected it, started a secular meditation practice, then gradually studied Buddhism. Today I'm a practicing Buddhist.
Why?
Because over the years I learned to rely on myself, not others. Catholicism teaches one to look for an external savior. Buddhism teaches one to look inside for what one needs.
So the latter is much more synchronized with my worldview.
Interested. Working to make #qubesos my daily driver and want an ergonomic setup to plug a small laptop into. I've been hesitant to use a USB keyboard or mouse, which blocks the idea of an ergonomic setup.
Ever walked through the diamond district in NYC? An entire city avenue block long but it looks like this place dwarfs even it.
The Pentagon is probably appropriately-sized for America's military-industrial complex and associated bureaucracy.
The diamond industry I guess enjoys such huge margins on small stones they don't know what else to do with it.
The book describing the history of DeBeers is pretty fascinating if you haven't already read it. The anecdote that still sticks with me nearly 20 years after reading it is the one about how DeBeers pretty much invented and popularized the engagement ring.
Tradfi boyz hoping hard that NYC becomes crypto's capital so they can still get that condo in Williamsburg and move there w/their girl's flufferdoodle.
They're probably not "allowed" to disclose details due to regulations put in place to keep their customers "protected" out of "an abundance of caution"
I volunteered as a PM to get started on my first crypto project. The project lead wrote a post-mortem about a failed product launch. I replied to him describing how a PM could help the next launch attempt succeed and joined the project based on a subsequent conversation.
I do find it difficult to be accepted as a PM in the decentralized world, although as the year have passed that resistance seems to be diminishing. Rather than "management"I tend to think of the work as "coordinatation", which tends to be perceived as less centralized and heavy handed.
One tactical step you could take is to create a GitHub project board from an existing project and try and do some initial organization of current issues. If you're not a contributor to the repo, try forking it and creating the board in your fork.
Hope that helps a little...
Looking for a privacy preserving self-hosted blog stack #asknostr that goes beyond "nobody can connect the server IP to my identity" cc: nostr:nprofile1qqsrkl7gyds37xh2af37uwlknvjm32ska3hgr5d0cwgzdqy0ux2r2ncpzfmhxue69uhk7enxvd5xz6tw9ec82cspp4mhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mqpzemhxue69uhky6t5vdhkjmn9wgh8xmmrd9skcwhq0n8
Observing what's happening in the US makes more sense when the US is framed as a deteriorating superpower about to pass the torch (or have it taken), rather than as the world's dominant superpower having a firm grasp on that role.
Two question as I get started here -
- is there an easy way to find the Nostr accounts associated with X accounts (assuming the Nostr account exists)
- how can one identify legit accounts of popular Nostr users? Right now I'm going based on highest follower count among the various impersonator accounts
