sometimes i think about how most major cities on the eastern side of the us were virtually bedbug and cockroach-free until about the 1960s. i wonder what changed.
shit i don’t even use 10% of my credit limit most months and if i do it’s because i planned out the purchase months in advance (and want the cashback) and will pay the balance the next week. so basically just a debit system delayed by a week.
if you use credit cards responsibly it’s very sustainable. if you treat them as debit cards and don’t buy things beyond your bank account, then the cash back is free money that they just give you for paying your balance. ofc most people don’t do this.
may or not have found a free (limited) electricity hack. as some of you may know, i am VERY strict on utility usage, including electricity use. my electric bill, historically hovers right around $25 year round. could be july. could be january. $25. electric ovens. electric. heat. all electric. $25. and that's for 0.10$ per kwh from my supplier. you can do the math on that to find my kwh usage. now i enrolled in an aggregate program that measures my usage much more frequently but in return opens up a financial account in my name where the account, starting with $70, collects interest and automatically pays my bill, if i stay under a certain threshold of usage. if the threshold is $70 of usage a month, i am basically getting free electricity because i never use $70 of electricity a month. its free electricity.
