Samsung Backups and Cloud Sync can be End-To-End-Encrypted, but you need to Enable it

Guess which is new Galaxy Watch 7... Yes I know one is cleaner than the other one, and I suppose that is also a clue.
So far so good, will test exercise functions out on Mon. Am liking the extra info on AGEs Index, Energy Score, sleep apnoea monitoring, and better summary data (yes I suppose it is AI, but more informative than just plain data).

South Africans lose visa-free entry to Ireland
LOL well, I was about 70% far with my planning to visit Ireland in October, mainly because it was visa-free for us. I may as well now reconsider going to Europe again if I really have to go through a painful visa process again... Just glad I had not booked our flights last week!

@1664fdbd yes I also avoid mobile. In my case I like 3 monitors, and even at the two offices I worked at, I always had an additional monitor plugged in.
Can maybe try changing the mouse cursor too, to something bigger, different colour, acceleration, etc.
I just prefer to glance at something that is open, next to what I'm typing into. My mind seems to wipe itself when alt-tabbing between windows overlaying each other (which is why my terminal screen is transparent).

@49a8afa7 yes, not at all dense by us - it's all flat houses spaced out in a suburban area. The max speed is 500 Mbps for the area, and I think most users are really on 40 or 100 Mbps only. But like I say, my router speed test certainly shows the line is performing at full speed outside my home. If it was a contention ratio issue, I'd expect that figure to be lower and much more inconsistent.
@49a8afa7 I did find that contention ratio on ADSL lines, but to be honest I've found my fibre always running at full speed. But as my router test showed in my blog post, the fibre line is actually running a bit faster than the contracted speed. The problem seems more on the LAN side, or between the LAN and WAN..

@d6a085c8 yes that problem is a user problem - many do it everywhere when commenting. I literally have to often say, but yes that was discussed in the article.
@bbdbf694 I'm actually using the Make (old Integromat) service to replicate to a few services. But it only seems to do this with Mastodon. I must recheck if I'm using their newer integration, or the old webhook that I originally set up. Single image never seems to create the problem. It's pretty odd actually.

@d203437d it is an opinion piece though, but I get where it is coming from. Many of these requirements are not business choices, as they are legal requirements to prevent money laundering and fraud.
Most general businesses are not asking for ID. It is banks, SIM card sellers and now charities (for income tax refunds) where it is mandated by law (no choice for them).
The post I did was a company attempting to make providing an ID a bit safer, and help prevent it being used for identity theft.
@d203437d it's not really relevant for governments, banks and similar as they have to collect identities by law. They don't have any choice, and neither do any of their customers. So there is often just no choice. This is more about how to try ensure that those who must collect identities, can do it in a much more secure manner.
For "nice" to have businesses, I don't provide my proof of ID anyway. It means now, too, that I either can't claim tax rebates for charities, or I no longer donate.
@b5b38449 you are "predicting" though without any form of evidence, exactly what they said they are not storing. Without any evidence all, that is pure speculation at this stage.

@b9a8d5ef I do experiment a lot yes but most issues really come with AUR etc apps. I think now with AppImages, Flatpaks etc it has made things way easier with little issues around clashing updates. My 80-year-old mom was happily using Linux Mint for a few years on auto-update (without knowing it).
But yes, most of my normie friends do use Windows or Mac. In our country we don't have any laptops with any Linux pre-installed.
@e5bb3278 yes definitely. I last saw two very good ones that would accept prescriptions, and also allowed you to use a photo of yours to see what they would look like etc.
@e5bb3278 yep it also worries me that the eye tester places are quick to sell super expensive glasses, with plenty of upsells. In future I'm going to take their script and buy online.
@e5bb3278 always makes me wonder if it was better to squint, but that can bring on headaches. Mine are for reading but it also bugs me that wearing them, means keeping wearing them. My day is pretty much staring at 3 monitors, I took the distance measurement, and had glasses made up especially for this purpose. Otherwise I use cheap Clicks glasses for bedtime reading.
@d203437d are you saying KYC is a technical solution alternative for govs and organisations? I wasn't too sure what the article was proposing or how it helps here?
