I will never understand the people who believe they have a say in who we love.
@b5cdaf1a I wonder if some of them don't feel trapped in their own relationships and it's a form of wishful thinking. "I can MAKE myself love him/her! That's my CHOICE!"

The idea of love being something that comes organically and does not need to be forced must be frightening to those who have never felt it.

(Disclosure: I myself have never been in love, but am wildly aware that it doesn't happen by shrugging and going "guess I'm stuck with THIS jerk.")
#WritersCoffeeClub 7: Have I seen a TV show or movie so close to one of my ideas I'd wished I'd written it?

I mean Phon's aesthetic could borrow heavily from Crowley in Good Omens. The driving goggles, the sharp coat, the good cars.

But they're wildly different characters and Phon is Indian ("As English as they come! Gets dead mardy when people get it wrong." "This is America, Sam. People will see 6'5" Indian guy in a stupid coat long before he opens his mouth.")

Spy x Family has a close vibe

@7ccb675f Brand is easygoing and effortlessly social.

Victor is focused and blisteringly competent.

@433fb3d4 There's the pokemon that wears its mother's skull as a helmet.

The whole of Violet Town is pretty grim. All ghost-type pokemon are sus.

Even the rat has flavor text explaining its teeth will wire its jaw shut and it will starve without a trainer to file them down.

It's been there since the start and it's wild!
#WritersCoffeeClub 3: Should a writer have a photo on or inside their book?

I sure hope not because I would set myself on fire before putting one on there.

As a reader I have never once picked up a book based on a jacket photo, but I have certainly put some back on the shelf because of one.

If the whole back cover is one big glamor shot, I immediately assume "airport book." Which is not all bad, I've read my share of Ludlum. But it sends a certain message.

Do not perceive me. Enjoy the book.
#WordWeavers What is your most intriguing character? Why?

I'm gonna say that Pokemon child who g...
@433fb3d4 And canonically Mr. Mime is just, like, a GUY?

Thanks I hate it.

@7ccb675f Draft 1 for me was a rough scene that I kept playing over in my mind months before I wrote word 1 to paper, and in its current form the closest thing to that scene is the very end of book 3.

To me the characters have to come first. Once I know who they are and how they play off each other, I can set plot goals and know what will carry them there naturally.
@643c2077 Late to the party but I have been laughed at by New Englanders before:

If you have a bathtub, fill it up. No, you won't want to drink out of it, but you DO want to be able to flush your toilet, right?

@7ccb675f It's not quite the same but I've definitely hurt myself by going too hard before, and needed a few days to recover.

Still looking for the sweet spot that is comfortable to my back, wrist, knees, and BT keyboard signal all at once :I

Often I end up in the tub and lie back in hot water between scenes while I'm thinking.
