@683562c3 did you find the audio mix to be as disruptive as I did? The interstitial EDM bits between speakers was JARRINGLY loud on my Mac/Beats Fit Pros.
@bfcd44e3 My skepticism is part of the reason why I felt like the message fell flat; the other part of it was the sense that the skit could have been a press release. Captive audience, I get it, but it rather awkwardly disrupted the product announcements.
Today is National Programmer Day. Please make sure to set out extra treats for your programmers and if you don't yet have one, consider adopting from a shelter - they all deserve forever homes.
Maybe this is a "turn down that noise you call music" thing from a person who's getting older than he cares to admit, but I thought the audio mix on the Wonderlust #AppleEvent was trash. They'd go from normal dialogue levels to BONE CRUSHING EDM INTERSTITIAL BLASTS WITH WAY TOO MUCH BASS then back to normal dialogue. It was very disruptive to my attention.
OTOH, thanks Apple Event DJ, for introducing me to Jackie Mendoza and Cub Sport.
BIBLICAL FUN FACTS:
According to the Book of Enoch, the Seraphim include Gabriel, Michael, Raguel, Raphael, Remiel, Uriel and Zerachiel.
According to the Book of Linotype, the Sans Seraphim include Helvetica, Futura, Calibri, Frutiger and Optima.
@3409b63c@683562c3 When you're a senior on a fixed income, replacing that $500 Bose Sounddock becomes an insurmountable obstacle and even finding an adapter solution to work introduced unnecessary complexity and expense.
The refusal to update is a different issue altogether, but my experience was that people were gunshy because they *had* blindly updated and run into issues that they then had to pay someone like me to extricate them from. Once bitten, twice shy, especially for normies.
Wondering how soon after the Apple Watch S9 ships that someone will double-tap their fingers in the air and be assaulted by someone thinking they're making a rude gesture.
@7a7f7a50 I have a 12 that hasn't demonstrated any particular points of failure other than a weakening battery, which I can still have replaced for a reasonable sum thanks to AppleCare+.
Despite the new phones' excellent features and capabilities and pretty colors, Apple really didn't give me a compelling reason to *want* to incur another thousand dollars of debt to replace this device, whose cost was amortized a long time ago.
Trying to watch Invasion S1 now that S2 is getting rolled out and finding every bit as bleak, plodding, and generally unpleasant as I did the first time.
@e4c24182 Have you watched Making the Cut? It's not bad. I guess it incorporates ideas they both wanted in Runway but that the (other) producers wouldn't sign off on.
I think merely looking for a nomination should be enough to disqualify anyone from being President. Anyone who wants the job has already demonstrated that they're a lunatic who can not be trusted.
We should only elect people who need to be dragged kicking and screaming into 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
@e4c24182 I like the 2019+ seasons with Brandon Maxwell et al. Christian Siriano is hilarious in the workroom, and carries hosting duties just fine on his own even without Karlie Kloss.
Reacquainting myself with older seasons of Project Runway (14 atm), I can see why this show dropped off the charts for a while. Heidi and her crew (minus Tim, of course) were sort of assholes.
Maybe I'm an outlier, but I'm not impressed with the fact that Walter Isaacson is ready to publish an Elon Musk biography. I thought his Steve Jobs biography was overrated, and I haven't been terribly impressed with him when I've seen him interviewed over the intervening years, either.
I wanted to like "Hot Wheels Ultimate Challenge" a lot more than I did. But if you're gonna build real-world Hot Wheels cars, you better also have a giant orange track and a loop-de-loop to race them on.

I opened this account years ago but never started using it until the great Twitter exodus, so apologies for the tardiness of my #introduction.
I'm a veteran #tech #journalist with a career spanning almost three decades. My focus for a very long time was #Apple. Started my first web site in '94; worked for #Macworld for a decade, and contributed to plenty of other sites besides (links to my CV and published work tracked at Authory.com in my info, if you're interested).
Anyway, hi! 👋
And literally the first box in the basement I checked this morning had a perfectly functional 30-pin Dock Connector cable lying on the top of the contents.
