Excepting the brutal food chain, all of nature seems magical to me. That a seed grows into a plant to bear edible fruit - containing the seed to grow and bear again - contains a form of magic. The process of water evaporation returning as rain and snow is magical, both in process and when experienced. Even tectonic movements creating continents, volcanoes, mountains, rocks and sand are magical. Birth / life / death of every creature creates the cycle of living magic.
We think science knows nature of magic, but there’s always more to the mystery, more to explore and explain. We’ll never reach its boundaries.

Lovely! I wish there were better ways to reproduce old prints - all my best pics were done in 35mm.
You’re a master at composition & capturing light.

Being a reasonable, logical person I MUST assume these judges all have medical degrees with specialties in OB/GYN, otherwise how could they determine what constitutes stabilization of a patient versus preventing the death of a woman?
The Dobbs decision and radical far-right, unqualified, incompetent, ideologically-driven judges have made women second-class citizens and rendered their lives and decisions meaningless.
EVERY SINGLE REPRODUCTIVE LAW is based on religious dogma, and the US is not a theocracy.
Today is about abortion and trans care. Tomorrow will be contraception, sterilization, IVF therapy, LGBTQIA families and LGBTQIA equality.
Get the fk*ing government out of our medical decisions!

I KNOW it’s not acceptable to appreciate (or even reference) Ayn Rand’s “Atlas Shrugged,” but we are seeing the kernel of Rand’s philosophical truth in real life action with this rag-tag Republican Party.
🔺Basically, you get what you put up with (‘sanction’ as she termed it).🔺
Somewhere along the way over the past couple of decades, we Americans have put up with - accepted - sanctioned - complete dereliction of their sworn duty from GOP Members of Congress. And, by not holding Jan6 MOC insurrectionists accountable for their complicity, we are also sanctioning their sedition.
Dammit! These ELECTED PUBLIC SERVANTS have the power and responsibility for the public purse - yet time after time we come down to the wire of this STUPID CR fight.
Plainly put - they don’t have another damn thing to do in their position that is as important as funding the Gov’t, yet they diddle around with busy work on the taxpayers’ dime.
So why the hell do we put up with it?

🚨🚨🚨 WATCH THIS ENTIRE SPEECH! 🚨🚨🚨
The 20-second sound bites from network and cable news do NOT give you a clear idea of the power and gravity of Pres. Biden’s discourse on the current state of — and threat to — our Constitution and our democracy.
The real meat of his message begins about 7 minutes in. It’s absolutely worth your time to watch it to the end.
I’m stating unequivocally that this is the most alarming presidential address I’ve heard since the 1962 Cuban missile crisis — and the consequences of another Trump administration will be no less catastrophic for our country than what JFK described then.
Please watch. Please boost this so more people will see it. The news is not covering this message as they should. Thanks.

Interesting that the PNW risk is noted as low. The chain of Cascade volcanoes, 5 of which are active (with five active in Oregon and two extending into NorCal), and the presence of two major faults with a MAJOR subduction area underlying and surrounding Seattle, would certainly give me caution about moving there to avoid #ClimateCrisis.
Just saying. 😱

He wasn’t famous, but I’d like to have dinner with my father to learn the real scoop about his/our family. I discovered many years after his death that he wasn’t, as claimed, French, but instead the Polish son of 19th century immigrants who settled in MI and PA to work the mines. Because of the social stigma Eastern European immigrants lived with, he later denied all connection with his heritage and family. I’d also like it if he cooked the dinner - he was a fabulous cook! He died when I was 20.

I feel about her the same way I do about Michael Cohen. They both worked for Trump, even after they knew who he truly was. (Anyone with real strength of character would have high-tailed it outta there at the first realization. Or, even more harshly, anyone with any insight at all would NEVER have worked for him.)
She (apparently) told the truth under oath to the Jan6 Select Committee; that’s not a high bar when one has been employed as “Chief of Staff to the President’s Chief of Staff,” as she described herself. It may be an unusual action for a Republican, but it isn’t heroic.
She worked for Trump; she is not a patriotic heroine.
Just my opinion.

A few years ago I posted a question on /askreddit “why don’t more young people vote?” I got a LOT of replies and about 98% said voting is “too inconvenient,” AND the respondent would absolutely vote if it were online and secure, like bank or credit transactions.
I’m disabled and could not vote if CA didn’t have mail-in ballots. It’s time to adjust to people’s needs. We haven’t had a higher turnout than 67% since 1900.

As vigorously (and correctly) as the Senate is attempting to establish ethics rules for SCOTUS, they need to take a cold, hard look at their own procedural Rules.
Senate Rules are not delineated in the Constitution nor on stone tablets, yet these Rules continue to disrupt legislation and service to the American people.
Consider where we might be without the filibuster (a Rule).
Consider the very real harm to our military personnel and to our national security one (football coach) Senator is doing with his stubborn blocking action — which is based on his PERSONAL RELIGIOUS CONVICTIONS (and the US is not a theocracy).
The American people suffer the consequences of these RULES.
The American people are not served by this elite body of legislators.
It’s time for change.

3. Feeling unbelievably blessed by both kids, who treat me as their peer and annihilate me & each other with sharp-edged humor. (I planned for one Aquarian baby, got two. BOGO.) 😆
🔺2024 will be the last democratic election if Republicans retain the House, take the Senate majority, and/or win the presidency.
🔺Another term under Trump’s “leadership” is unthinkable. He will never be bound by the Constitution, the rule of law, concerns for #ClimateCrisis mitigation, human rights, or anything decent.
🔺He is driven by greed & self-interest ONLY, and that includes perceived political retribution.
🔺2024 IS THE CHOICE BETWEEN OUR CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC AND FASCISM.
