@b2ab0244@cd8e3eca@f6a8d912@4a3619aa@ede95ff6 commented with my opinion (fwiw) on AO3 but I’m pinned under Frankenstein rn so had to read on my phone and wasn’t logged in, just in case you wondered who the guest kudos was. ‘‘Twas me not able to remember passwords that are not saved on the device.
Why is it when I write my original fiction, I spend half the time going "I have no idea if there is any merit in this or if it's all dreck" but when I write fan fiction, I finish a chapter feeling like I just wrote the best thing ever?
Honestly, this last chapter, I had so much fun. I need to find an original project that is as enjoyable as things like this.

#WordWeavers 30: How educated is your MC?
Malásek - gymnazium only. He wanted to go to university but his father vetoed it. He ended up on National Service instead, and from there to training with the StB.
Varyenukha - Studied at the San'Ottrano Conservatory, a child prodigy in music. His qualifications would be PhD level in our world.
Nat Chapel - went to the sessional school in Market St, then straight into working in the shop. Very self-educated, though.
#PennedPossibilities 87 - Half full or half empty?
Malásek leans more towards half empty than full, but it's more that he thinks of himself as a pessimist because he thinks about things critically and always finds fault with things, but throughout it all, he is actually hopeful. He keeps going, with this buried but still powerful urge that there is a way to make things better if you just keep trying.

@ce78dee8@a3976b27 I think it depends what you want as well. I’d be happy if I made enough from writing to not have to work a second job but to do that (barring becoming very lucky and hitting the bestsellers list) I’d have to write different kinds of books, churn out several in a year, that sort of thing, and that doesn’t appeal to me. Also, my current WIP started in lockdown 2020 so three years ago, and I consider that a recent one. Im not a fast writer
#WritersCoffeeClub 17: Promotion
I'm awful at promoting work. it's one of the reasons I want to try trad publishing first and only if that fails go to self publishing, because I dread having to promote my own book and, from experience, reckon any project I self publish will just die without selling a single copy. I think to have a chance at promotion you need to be someone with friends, someone people like, so people want to share your posts etc. I'm not that person. #writing #writingcommunity
A little upset today. My health and mobility have taken a turn for the worse, my back and my hip mainly, and I can barely walk today. So I've had to cancel Stirling and the torchlight parade for Bloody Scotland. I'm telling myself I can go again next year, but I'm still sad.
But I'm also telling myself actually writing more of the book is as profitable a use of time as going to a festival to hear other people talk about books. And again, there's always next year.

#WritersCoffeeClub snack or beverages of choice while writing.
The Diet Irn Bru is a must. I don’t snack that often but it’s usually crisps (chips if you’re American) but today, it is Jacob’s cream crackers and spreadable Brie, which I used to love but which is now hard to find, the little shop attached to the holiday park here being one of the few places I know I can get it.
