Is X dying for real bitcoin content? Our company took off because of X in 2021/2022. So I’m very thankful that the app brought me where I am today. I’m afraid that it’s not going the right direction. We’ve build a lot of cool #bitcoin stuff and all of it is basically archived on X. I’m afraid to lose it all at some point. Is there a way to migrate the content that was once posted on X to Nostr? Willing to pay for it.

I just watched it. Fantastic piece Joe! So English! I can really feel the journey of Steve. I sold my house in 2021 and started to heat my temporary garage home at the end of that year. There’s a small difference where we have a small baby and another baby coming in our garage 😉 We produced a ton of open source drawings with @BitcoinBrabant for these solutions and share it with hundreds of people in groups and on our x and telegram.
I wish I got to know Steve before this, because we could have worked together on the boxes as we have the same build ups. The steering is also open source with home assistant so I’m curious what @NiceAction used? Hope we can collaborate more across the globe. So many people are doing the same thing! Amazing. Shipped another one of these today… thousands of people are now mining. We’re literally bringing the bank home… 🍻

It’s 4am. Following thought:
The Netherlands is under full US control. The Chinese did get a good run over the past years. They could import the chip making machines from ASML. Now that the US determines what is being manufactured in the Netherlands for China we most likely end up seeing the next step of “sanctions”. Remember the farmers protests? Farmers were protesting for an upcoming “land grab”. But i see it more as a bailout. The Netherlands exports 80% of its pork to China and is one of the largest producers and certifiers of milk powder after the child formula disaster.
When China stops imports the NL is up for a rude awakening.
The technology of ASML is wanted, the new French CEO wants it to move to France. But the US wants it.
Now what if the Netherlands would push for a war with Russia and a bomb would go off at ASML. EU is unsafe to guard for the technology of the future of mankind. Should we ship ASML to the US? Just like the gold during WW2? We are not prepared for what is about to come. The interesting part is, we will have a “blown up pipeline” kind of situation.

I prefer to oppose wear. Noderunners hoodie to the large common meeting with the Dutch Central Bank and the Authority of financial markets. 3 layer suit to the individual meetings with the people of DNB and AFM. My Cambridge professor once said dress up for the individual, stand out in the masses. If you don’t suit up at your oral exam you’ll fail from disrespecting me 😂. I’ll also never forget the start of his first lecture. Why is a wave measuring pole white? #nostrasks tomorrow I’ll give the answer. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/709682
I’ve tested a few and am planning to put them up for sale with @BitcoinBrabant but still haven’t found ones that are optimal. We would not only use it for phone, but also for signing devices.
Oh and on another note. If you drop your phone or laptop in a faraday bag make sure you put it in airplane mode or turn it off before you do. If you don’t the machine ramps up power towards WiFi/Cellular to establish connection again. This drains the battery quicker.
People don’t see what we’re dealing with behind the scenes.
As a chairman of the United Bitcoin companies the Netherlands (VBNL) a lot is happening. In the last few months we had serious issues with the bank that facilitates most on/off ramping for exchanges in the Netherlands.
In January a large part of the bitcoin exchanges received a cost increase from €499,- to €4999,- per month for their bank account. In April they received a letter that the companies had until 10th of June to move their funds and operation to another bank. The bank accounts were going to be closed down.
The issue is that many exchanges have built extensive API’s for smooth on/off ramping with this bank. So this was a move that caused a lot of stress for many people. Communication with the bank was impossible. So every individual company took them to court. Only one case was actually brought into the court room and the company won. The other companies received a message they could hold their bank account.
The insane cost increase is still there and creeping further through the list of bitcoin companies.
We’re now looking at a way to reduce the cost, because for small companies it means bankruptcy.
This we do as companies together. And VBNL has been doing this for over a decade now.
For now it’s a bank, and on 10th of September we’re facing an even larger cost issue. The Dutch central bank. We won the court case with 11 exchanges but off course they appealed and now we’ll be standing at the Supreme Court. The central bank has burdened the exchanges with millions of regulatory oversight cost that were not lawful. A win during this court case would not only drop the cost for the exchanges between 2020-2024 but most likely also impact future cost under MICAR and the Authority of financial Markets. We’re currently looking at a €5.6 million cost from just AFM for the ongoing regulatory oversight for MICAR in 2025. Wish us luck.

It’s still in the planning. But we already had unrealized gains taxed. And that just got killed by court. So a lot of people are able to buy bitcoin soon as billions are coming back to the hodlers that were taxed over the past few years 🔥
“After careful consideration, bunq has decided to change the commercial terms towards crypto companies. The high risk profile of parties active in this sector no longer fits the risk that bunq is prepared to and is reasonably willing to take at the current pricing.
Companies in your sector inherently pose higher operational, legal and reputational risks for bunq compared to banking services to companies from other sectors. This has led to a change in our T&C's. Please find our updated terms and conditions attached to this email.
In the amended T&C's and Annex 1, the monthly fees are adjusted for companies with an average deposit balance of less than €2,000,000 held with us in the previous quarter. Since your group has been below this average deposit's amount, this change will affect our relationship with you. This means that the monthly account maintenance fees for bunq's Crypto Desk will amount to €4,999.
Kindly be aware that these adjustments will be implemented starting from 31th March 2024.
Please note that if you continue to use our services after that date, you will be accepting the modified terms and conditions.”
That is a great question. It was clear that the people I spoke with are still far away from understanding bitcoin. They wanted to plan a roundtable discussion to increase the level of knowledge in parliament. There currently is no broad support for that yet. We will await broader support.
There are multiple options. For 20,24 or 33 words you could multiply the number of disks for your need.
The question is if the Shamir split is optimal.
Looking at the current single sig + passphrase options or multisig options I believe these suit better than the Trezor option.
In general we prefer to use open source, bitcoin only, air gapped options for signing. Currently only @SeedSigner@Foundation Passport and @Blockstream Jade are options in that respect.
It depends on who you’re helping with the setup and to what extent they should go with this. It would actually be nice to share our work we did with bitsave and bitcoinvoorbedrijven on this. If you want more info I can get you in touch with our group.
This sounds like you used ChatGPT 😂 I would stick with bitcoin only and not advise people to walk down the path you’re suggesting. Every hardware wallet/signer/electrum/sparrow can work with bip39 native Bitcoin backups. I would always advise a Bitcoin only setup for the hodling of bitcoin. It’s multi generational so I would go for a more “standard” approach. Single sig with passphrase or a multisig is easy these days.
Have you ever tried a passport or a seedsigner? I would advise you to try it.
4 months ago I posted the interview of @Aaron van Wirdum on @zach 's Flare. I just checked it out and it's not being seen much. Also I was seeing a lot of 0 views scrolling through the videos uploaded. How come that the flare platform is not being used much currently? Is there any "algorithm" necessary to fit the video type with the login?
Curious how #nostridges see this.

I’m sorry, this one person company that is being helped out by family is not great in marketing. Just in deleting data and manually shipping stuff to bitcoiners for optimal opsec 😂

If i listen i listen at 1x and sometimes rewind if something important needs to be heard twice. I only watch podcasts when there is video available to ensure maximum impact in memory recovery. Sometimes I listen podcasts in the car, but still prefer music when the burden on the brain is already too much to keep input amount in check…
Release is in sports and time with kids and family. Used to be in friends and alcohol before bitcoin…
Still spend more time on books than podcasts…
GM, great news, the bitaxes have arrived. Now we wait for @Printer Go₿rrr ⚡ to steam up to print the cases. Next to that we’re shipping our first zodiac seedsafe. And of course we have the regular Dutch book orders and some signing devices going out. Enjoy your Monday!

GM Pump up the ₿heat. It’s amazing to see how many people are going to heat their home / business with bitcoin miners upcoming winter.

The shadow also has two Ethernet ports. Luckily we in general don’t need the better performance or mine / run nodes in congested areas. Can imagine you’ll need more performance when traveling to these kind of areas. For us and our clients I believe the shadow is still sufficient for its purpose.
For over 5 weeks I don’t have a blue checkmark on X anymore. The amount of views and likes of my posts has dropped significantly. If you don’t pay, you don’t matter apparently.
I’m curious how this will work on #nostr. My latest posts don’t reach many it seems. Or I’m just sending out bad posts… don’t know what the cause is.
I’m curious about future open source algorithms for Nostr. On X I created selections, so I just directly have the people I want to check out in different tabs.
How far is this development in any client? I don’t seem to have found one yet.

Today I visited the new location of Kontena. The Antwerp based mining container/HPC manufacturer. They currently have a lot of work on the HPC market. Super interesting to see what they have been building throughout the years.
We are looking at many different manufacturers and options for different projects. Great to see how far the mining industry has come.

It’s really amazing how many different types were built around that time. By so many different people from so many different places. If you see that https://bitcointaps.com/ is standing at more and more events these days, it was worthwhile building these social drafts in parallel.
