In the company I work for, which at that time was public, the CFO got confronted with the question in an AUA why they don’t convert partly to bitcoin for treasury purposes. The answer baffled me: “I don’t understand bitcoin. It seems interesting but I just don’t get it”. This is now 4,5 years ago. Still no BTC on the balance sheet and a missed opportunity.
Wrong. It was a good movie and a perfect fitting sequel to how and why Arthur Fleck is. He was never supposed to be “the” Joker. The movie was more about trauma, abuse and psychology than anything else.
Austria is voting today and most have forgotten his name. None of the parties even mention bitcoin in their program. The downfall of a once empire continues. Well, hfsp.
Shout out to the team of @BitBox. First of all: their product is excellent. But what really positively surprised me, was the whole onboarding journey: ordering, packaging, explanation within physical package, follow-up emails etc. It is all well made, easy to follow and even for newbies easy to understand. Marketing done well!
Top notch & highly recommended.
Loved your book Jeff. Would love to see a second one where you would describe a society with a deflationary economy. Thinking with a mind that has only known the old inflationary, on some parts I wonder how it would all work.
One of the arguments I once heard against bitcoin: “but it doesn’t distribute wealth and the rich can buy more than the poor.”
I didn’t know where to start 😂🤦♂️
Still gold! “The first follower transforms a lone nut into a leader”. Learned more about leadership, followers and movements in a 3min video than in some leadership course at uni 😂
True. But most still think in fiat terms and then it helps when a potential president would support/talk about btc. But trump is a shitcoiner and only interested in his own personal gains. Regardless, just stack, save, send and spend and we’ll be good.
Hodl. One of the bitcoin mantras.
But:
If i pay with fiat, because hodl, i can convert less to btc.
If i pay with btc, i have fiat left which i can convert to btc.
So pay with fiat or btc, it doesn’t matter from a hodl perspective. And by spending btc, you help btc grow. Spedn

Best example: I've connected with someone that I met years ago here on nostr. Would not have happened on twitter or somewhere else because of all the noise.
At first learning about bitcoin feels as if your brain gets rewired. New pathways formed and connections made.
Most of what you learn about it, is contrary to what you believe to be true at first. It’s fascinating. Most people don’t like their beliefs to be challenged or spend time thinking about how money works, however. Their daily lives just continue.
We can say hfsp: if you don’t get it, i don’t have the time to explain it to you. Right? But maybe that is the key; maybe we do too much explaining and too little just using it: using the best form of money ever invented: #bitcoin. GN 🌝
Twitter will die as every other social network has. Trends come and go. Decentralized freedom of expression and decentralized freedom of transacting value stay forever because they are at the core of being a free human.
21 days until general elections in Austria. The namegiver of Austrian economics. You'd might think they are big on bitcoin. Just for fun, I looked at the programs of the 5 biggest parties and counted how often they mention bitcoin: zero times.
But the word freedom is mentioned in total 190 times. Politics, charade you are. We are still so early. #bitcoin
Let's have a look at the fertility rates of Poland, Hungary and Greece, all have a subsidy on birth/children. According to your logic, subsidy = more children. Did we see an increase?
Poland: no
Hungary: yes
Greece: no
Is it therefore that simple? No. Declining fertility rates has many reasons. Affordability and cost of living is a major factor and we'll agree on the reasons why costs of living has risen. Back in the day kids were an asset, they could work on the fields. Now having more kids than necessary becomes a financial burden. Advanced medical abilities creates an option to have less kids because most of them become adults. Why would you want to have more than you need/want? There is simply no need.
Also, you don't need a family to have a kid, it's not complicated
I’d say for a lot of people, they never ask the question “what is money”. Therefore unable to see the real reasons and just put their faith in another government.
Thanks for all your work @gladstein. The humanitarian importance of bitcoin is a no-brainer, it’s astonishing to think about what good it can do (and does already) for people: Enabling the freedom of money and freedom of monetary/value transactions for everyone.
Just finished listening to this. Loved most of you and hodl's viewpoints . Thanks for bringing your voice and these topics into the #bitcoin space. A lot to think about 💪
But damn, Erik is bitter. Although getting a lot right, he also got a lot of stuff (factually) wrong. Unnecessarily confrontational statements and doesn't spread a message that appeals to a regular person. By doing that, he does what he criticizes others; sticking your head in the sand and be happy in your little echo-chamber.
