My son who is under 10 bet me that he could read the1000 pages of the lord of the rings trilogy before the end of the month.
Great if he already likes reading a lot. I needed to pass 22 before starting to like to read. 💪 And this is within his potential?
Bet the farm. Then you’ll either take him to the cleaners or inspire him for a lifetime. It’s win win.
I'd be proud to lose that bet 🫡
You grew up a great boy
May the best man win!
That kind of aggressive goal-setting should be rewarded whether he finishes or not. Maybe whatever % completion of the trilogy he gets through, give him that % of the original wager. Definitely want to continue encouraging that delusional optimism!
I don't think it's delusional at all. Seems like he has a good sense of his own capabilities.
Fair enough. I still think that not enough people today have a sense of "delusional optimism" and that it is a positive trait which should cherished and nurtured when we live in a society that loves to tell people to live in fear and scarcity.
Why do so many think that it will be bet in the sense to win anything more then pleasure?
Because a bet is a wager on an outcome.
Yah right little buddy
Paying kids to read books is a cheat code! 🚁
I hope it is not about money but about motivation. I do not support punishment nor reward. Whenever possible I like education that focuses more on intrinsic value. Rather finding what is good for one instead of working to someones pleasing.
He can do it. Reward with sats when he wins.
take that bet every day! ... either way you both win
make sure he has plenty of chores to keep the bet fair🤣
Give him 10 sats per page and he’ll get it done! ✅
