Gold doesn't need electricity or computers to work, much less the cooperation of Walmart and whatever big corporation is managing their gift cards for them, and whatever company the gas station uses to process gift cards.
I used to live close to that line. Cat3 is like "Maybe we'll get a day off from school, maybe not; I hope it doesn't hit on a Saturday." Some houses right on the coast will get rekt, and some meth heads in trailers will get rekt, but what else do they expect living on the coast or in a cardboard box in a hurricane zone? (aka Florida)
One time a Cat2 hit direct on my house. The eye wall made the palm trees bend sideways. We all walked outside in the eye, and yes, it's eerie like they say. A bunch of tree branches came down and the power was out for about 10 hours. Back at work like normal the day after next.
This is the benefit of Mexico. The government can barely keep the electricity on; how would they be able to maintain a sophisticated large scale car snitching system?
