Chris, this is really goo...
@aa5872d1 thanks! I’m glad you like it.
I don’t promote my music much since it’s a less active (but no less important) part of my general existence, but in light of #BandcampFriday and in recognition of what the workers at @bandcampunited there have created you should go check something out. It’s a place on the internet that is a haven. I don’t even care if you purchase anything of mine. It’s just enough to listen, but please support artists as much as you are able.

First one is the most album-y album, but this one has some of my favorite little moments. #bandcampfriday https://skeletonkednig.bandcamp.com/album/february-across-the-briar
Oh no. I’m not ready for a news cycle of Charlotte media in breathless excitement about the city being mentioned in a song.
There should be more banjo songs about light rail.

@1bdc7b61 there are definitely plenty from this century, for those artists who want to be more “authentic” by harkening back to the ole times.
“🎶My baby left town on a midnight train🎶” oh really? Maybe they’d have more reasonable departure times if you had been writing to your state legislators about proper inter-city rail budgets.
Americana and Country artists may no longer write songs about trains unless you’re actively supporting adequate funding for urban mass transit.
Help me out folks. I’m assembling the frattiest, most fishing-hook-on-the-hat playlist. What do I need to include??? Accuracy is more important than quality here, and Don’t worry, I already have O.A.R. #music #2000s #bro #dude #broheim #broseph #duderino #lacrosse

Ain’t no reason to get religious on LinkedIn.
(Especially not in service of calling Jim Caveziel a “hero”)
Beautiful weekend up on Pilot Mountain National Natural Landmark #northcarolina #hiking
 Americano doubt #coffeeaband
Beautiful #CriticalMass ride thru Charlotte made all the more sublime by a group of us watching a rat catch a cockroach in the park.
Dilemma. Tempted to post my own song for Day 30- feels kinda shameless though
I didn’t, but if you still want to go listen to an old song from a guy not really putting music out there these days, you can always start here: https://skeletonkednig.bandcamp.com/album/desperate-steadfast?t=8
 #day29 of #30daysongchallenge - a song from your childhood.
“So Far Away” by the #DireStraits

My parents were definitely in the “we’re not going to play a bunch of kids music, you just listen to what we like” camp, and this album is one of the earliest entire albums I can remember. Anything from it is an instant time machine to back then. It doesn’t hurt that it scores one of my favorite and most heartbreaking tv episodes ever (iykyk)

#day28 of #30daysongchallenge a song by an artist whose voice you love

“Unfinished House” by #CautiousClay

This song is the centerpiece of a great album Karpeh dropped last month. I love how he’s both smooth and rough/raspy at the same time. Song is pretty great too.

It feels like “futuristic” has become a pretty meaningless term as far as design goes
#day27 of #30daysongchallenge a song that breaks your heart

“Now You Know” by #anaismitchell

Anáis Mitchell is tough to beat for her ability to construct a song, and I’ve taken a lot of songwriting lessons away from her work. Here, she follows a thread of emotions to convey that no thought is ever disconnected from the swirl of experiences, fears and hopes that we build relationships from.

I can report that Children of Men still hits.
Constantly thinking about the Seleucids because I’m *different*

@2d4040ed things have been messed way up ever since that guy was nominated by Donky Trunkerfunk
Please help. I am not sure whether this notice about my United States Postal Service package delivery from user “Funkydunker68” is legit or not.

#day19 of #30daysongchallenge - a song that makes you think about life.
“Deuteronomy 2:10” by #theMountainGoats

A song about extinction (the Tasmanian Tiger, Dodo, and Golden Toad) but more importantly the ways we show the world we are alive before we are gone. You can fight, live in blissful ignorance, or you can sing. His voice breaking on the line “I sang all night” gets me every time.

#day18 of the #30daysongchallenge a song from the year you were born.
“Ghost Town” by #TheSpecials

This one was kind of hard since a lot of my favorite bands of this era skipped my year for some reason, but it’s almost #spookyseason so why not go with a favorite?

The new Mitski is good (duh)
 So is the new Baroness!
@2d2b1e90 oof! I don’t guess that’s great for your eyes long term but it’s still got to feel better than pinkeye
The kids keep asking me to show them my inflamed eyes like it’s some kind of party trick.
I’m going to say something that’s not going to win me any friends…

People criticized Elemental for over reliance on metaphors and it’s high concept. Inside Out does the same thing.
#day17 of #30daysongchallenge a song to duet at karaoke
“Rotate” by #BeckyG and #BurnaBoy

This is a strong fave of both my kids and it’s therefore a contender for song I’ve heard the most. That also means I could sing it with any combination of family members, so long as I get to be Burna Boy. It’s also a lot of fun, which is key for karaoke.

 #day16 of #30daysongchallenge a song that’s a classic favorite
Border Song by #EltonJohn

My mom listened to a ton of Elton John when I was growing up so the pervasiveness of his music really sinks into my bones. I love this for the grandeur and the sincerity.

 #day15 of #30daysongchallenge - a cover of a song you like
“Stage Fright” by Steve Reynolds

Ticks a lot of boxes of what makes a good cover- keeps a lot of the original tone, but also brings in new melodies without becoming unrecognizable.

Pretty cool to come down with conjunctivitis the day before I am supposed to get my headshots done.
#day14 of #30daysongchallenge - a song you want played at your wedding
“Fist City” by Loretta Lynn

I included this on our old-time country cocktail hour playlist for our wedding because my wife loves Loretta. It may not be very sweet, but isn’t there still something romantic about your woman literally threatening bodily harm on another woman because she looked at you a second too long?

@adfbf87b thanks! That’s what I thought. I taste tested one and it was pretty good- I just wanted to make sure I’m not poisoning myself or my family.
@adfbf87b hey! I need some passiflora guidance. I’m seeing a lot of “don’t eat til they’re yellow” advice, but mine stay green until they dry up. Do these look ready to eat?

#day10 of #30daysongchallenge. A song that makes you sad.
“Whip-poor-will” by Magnolia Electric Company.

I had this song in heavy rotation a few years ago after losing a friend and fellow musician to depression, and it’s a song that I think gets to the heart of what it means to make music. Even in the deepest depths, songs are bigger then we are and expand beyond our own struggles, revealing the humanity in us to anyone willing to listen

Being one ADHD person married to another ADHD person means one of you is constantly mad at the other one for not remembering the things they forgot to tell you about.
#day9 of #30daysongchallenge - a song that makes you happy.
“Ice Cream” by Teenage Joans

Nothing better than keeping the guy coming in too early in the intro and laughing about it.

Job application is asking me to identify my previous salary. Definitely not going to fill that out. If they press me I’ll say it was 702k.
