Also Obama didn’t have to deal with the level of centralized social media algorithm manipulation to push misinformation to manipulate voters that’s being done now

Just to point out the obvious Big Pharma gave a lot of money to Trump, Republicans, and Democrats this election cycle as they do every election cycle, it’s highly unlikely RFK Jr is going to do anything significant about Big Pharma
HHS includes the FDA, CDC, Medicare, etc given that RFK Jr mostly seems to likes to go viral and doesn’t seem to have any significant medical knowledge this is more concerning that he will make healthcare even more confusing and chaotic than it already is for patients

This is an extremely dangerous choice. Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s anti-vaccine advocacy has been directly linked to the 2019 measles outbreak in Samoa, resulting in over 5,700 cases and 83 tragic deaths, mostly among children.
https://m.primal.net/MDcD.jpg
RFK Jr. has spent 40 years eroding scientific trust, public health, & spreading conspiracy theories he’s profited from.
Him being HHS Secretary is dangerous.
For us, our health, the planet, science innovation, other countries.
This will cause immense harm.
That is NOT hyperbole.

I post on bluesky and twitter too, everyone leaving to go to bluesky is because of Trump/Elon politics so then if someone gets to nostr and all the visible/larger accounts are hyping trump/trump policies or no politics at all ppl will feel like - no one like me is here and leave. If you want new ppl to stay devs should make starter packs like bluesky does of ppl posting left leaning content for ppl to follow when they join
It would make sense for insurers to pay for cardiology related devices that help with prevention. “Digital health has evolved rapidly, but medical insurance hasn’t kept up. In the US, most medical insurers require treatments to take place within designated medical spaces such as hospitals or surgeries. However, digital health blurs the geographical lines, and patients may find that their insurance won’t reimburse the costs of remote care.”

The biggest difference was reaching more people via social media algorithm manipulation, if I was guessing I’d guess by billionaires that don’t want to pay taxes and foreign parties impacted by the outcome of our elections. More than 80% of Americans get at least some part of their information online. https://image.nostr.build/0ee4a08346e34df6cee00b90544f77cb35b9c65c90d8d5d6d6f67988b6c02eb1.jpg
“Unfortunately the media barely covered the significant accomplishments of the Biden Administration and long term investment in our infrastructure and economy. Like those of the New Deal, some will be noticed later. No doubt
Trump will take credit for these just as Republicans in Congress did for improvement programs they voted against. Hypocrisy.” https://image.nostr.build/d05cbb1b18c546daed92326631f085583872ddc3f46bcd2106001adee01b78cb.jpg
Interesting to see how this can be applied to cardiology in the future.
“Engineers at the University of California San Diego have developed a wearable ultrasound tech device that can provide long-term, wireless monitoring of muscle activity with potential applications in healthcare and human-machine interfaces. Designed to stick to the skin with a layer of adhesive and powered by a battery, the wearable ultrasound tech device enables high-resolution tracking of muscle function without invasive procedures.”

And left leaning influencers have their accounts suppressed for posting politics, at least I have had that experience on Instagram and Tiktok

Trump rolled back climate change mitigation efforts during his first term and he has said he will roll them back further during this term. Given all the extreme weather we’re already having like Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton this is concerning. Besides states filing lawsuits against the federal government around public safety and the increased costs that Trump’s climate change policies have cost states already from his first term because of all the damage (its obviously is also increasing the cost of home insurance for many Americans too) I’m not sure what the solutions would be.

'Kids died.' The story of RFK Jr., anti-vaxxers, and a measles outbreak. Don’t call RFK Jr. a “political maverick” or “vaccine skeptic.” As Mehdi notes, his anti-vaccine effort has real-life consequences. For proof, just look at the 2019 measles outbreak in Samoa, where dozens of children died thanks to a steep drop in vaccinations. Mehdi’s deep dive looks at the deadly cost of the anti-vaccine movement Kennedy has boosted.

We will have to see what RFK Jr actually does to public health agencies. I have watched his interviews and looked at the medical studies on his website before and they don’t support anything he says, so he seems to make up things to go viral. Certainly he has the potential to make all of our lives more dangerous but that would also to lead to a lot of lawsuits against him and he’s a lawyer so I don’t know that he’ll actually do things except say medical misinformation things that go viral, he seems to really enjoy that
https://fortune.com/2024/11/07/rfk-jr-fda-trump-government/
processed food, mono crop agriculture and the pharmaceutical industry - these are topics doctors have spoken about too, I haven’t seen evidence that RFK Jr has the medical or health policy knowledge to run federal agencies, which would make sense since he is a climate change lawyer
Coloradans voted to enshrine the right to abortion in the State Constitution and secure abortion coverage in state health insurance plans.

Voters in Montana approved a ballot amendment that enshrines a right to abortion in the State Constitution. Montana was one of 10 states with similar measures on the ballot this year.

“We did it! Arizona has overwhelmingly voted to protect abortion access! We proved, yet again, that Arizona is a state that values freedom and individual rights. Thank you to the thousands of voters, volunteers, and donors— this victory belongs to you.”

Six states expand abortion protections (Arizona, Colorado, Maryland, New York, Missouri, Nevada) as Florida ballot fails reaching only 58% of the needed 60% to win 🇺🇸

Disappointed about the election results, I hope the country is able to recover after Trump leaves office in 2028 from the long term effects of another 4 years of fascism, divisiveness, and chaos 🇺🇸
So far it seems like less women, Blacks, Latinos, and young people expected voters voted for Kamala this election versus voted for Biden in 2020 because they’re unhappy about the economy and they want to see a change 🔄
if you voted in a swing state and you get a call from an unknown number in the next 24 hours, answer it!! it might be a lawyer trying to cure your ballot so it can count
(hundreds of 1000s of ballots get rejected for things like digital signatures not matching what's on file)

Remember when Trump encouraged his followers to try and overthrow the US government and they also attempted to murder Vice President Pence and members of Congress? Vote for Kamala 🇺🇸

“I have been asked on two different networks and by two different male hosts today whether abortion rights are as important to women as the economy. I can't say it more clearly: reproductive freedom is economic freedom. They are intrinsically intwined, as every woman knows.”

Republicans’ Closing Argument: We Will Wreck the Economy 🇺🇸 The former president’s allies have used the final days of the campaign to argue for sharp spending cuts that would harm millions of Americans. They say they will oversee $2 trillion in reductions. That’s a third of the federal budget, so you’d think there might be some kind of plan for what this involves, but all they would say last week is that “temporary hardship” will be involved. What kind of hardship? Well, House Speaker Michael Johnson let it be known last week that “health care reform’s going to be a big part of the agenda” if Trump wins, including a plan to repeal the Affordable Care Act which provides millions of Americans with health insurance.

Vote for Kamala and women’s rights ballot initiatives 🇺🇸 Kristin and Dave Gambardella never expected the journey of growing their family to include an abortion procedure, but in summer 2023, the married couple nevertheless found themselves in a Planned Parenthood parking lot in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a seven-hour drive from their home in Tucson, Arizona. In deciding to end the pregnancy, the Gambardellas realized they weren't only tasked with an agonizing decision for their family -- they also had an Arizona law to contend with, which would prevent them from seeing any of their own doctors for the procedure.

Don’t believe false claims about thousands of dead voters voting 🇺🇸
It's a zombie claim we see during every election cycle: Huge numbers of dead people are voting! And they are all Democrats! Neither is true. Typically when voters die, it's rare that their relatives contact local elections offices to ask that their names be removed from voter rolls. But election offices routinely receive death records from state and federal sources and then remove dead voters' names from voter rolls. Some still end up on the rolls. Occasionally, people illegally cast mail ballots in dead relatives' names, as a Republican did in 2020 in Nevada, but that is rare. That voter was charged with felonies.

Harris rally in Atlanta brings out thousands of supporters🇺🇸 Kamala Harris urges voters in Georgia to reject ‘increasingly unstable’ Donald Trump The Democrat struck familiar themes, discussing her intent to cut taxes for middle-class households and small business owners, the Trump abortion bans in many southern states, and support for parents caring for small children and other family members. She pledged to sign a law restoring protection for reproductive rights that were lost in the reversal of Roe v Wade by the US Supreme Court.

VA, WA, WI, WY, + Washington, D.C.”

Trump is expected to make false claims that normal late-night reporting of votes is suspicious 🇺🇸 Trump has repeatedly claimed that there was something amiss about supposed “dumps” of votes in the overnight hours of election night in 2020. In reality, those were just normal votes being counted as usual and added to the public totals as soon as possible. In populous urban counties with large numbers of voters, it’s standard, not suspicious, for some votes to be reported after midnight on election night. Also Republican state senators in the swing states of Wisconsin and Pennsylvania declined to pass legislative proposals between last election and this election that would have allowed for a faster count.

Lol it was actually about the diagnosis/treatment and long term prognosis/management of cardiovascular disease in pregnancy. Pregnancy causes a lot of hemodynamic changes on the body and in some women causes or exacerbates cardiovascular disease
Election officials in Kentucky are pushing back on unfounded allegations of widespread voter fraud after a video depicting an apparent technical glitch on a ballot-marking device amassed tens of millions of views on social media. Officials say the video depicts a "voter error" that is easily preventable and did not impact the voter's final ballot. 🇺🇸

These older women voters remember a time before Roe — and they’re rallying around Kamala Harris 🇺🇸 Vice President Kamala Harris has made reproductive rights — and former President Donald Trump’s role in appointing three of the conservative judges who overturned Roe v. Wade — a central part of her campaign pitch in a bid to harness women’s anger into electoral victories. While much of the focus has been on younger women, some female seniors say reproductive rights is also a top issue for them.

How America’s Fourth-Largest County Is Preparing for Election Interference. Maricopa County in Arizona has been a lightning rod for election deniers since 2020. Officials there say they’re prepared this time around.🇺🇸
That fraught post-election period is also what Fontes and his colleagues are most worried about, given what they went through in 2020. Arizona was the prime target of election deniers linked to the “Stop the Steal” movement, who—along with Trump himself—accused election authorities in the state and its largest county, Maricopa, of voter fraud after Joe Biden’s victory there. Legal cases, misinformation, and even threats of violence followed, but in the end, a Republican-funded review of the Maricopa County election results failed to come up with any additional votes for Trump.

Vice President Harris: Donald Trump's remark about doing things to women 'whether they like it or not' is very offensive. He does not understand their agency and their ability to make decisions about their own lives. This is just the latest in a series of reveals by Trump on how he thinks about women. He says women should be punished, and now one in three women live in a state with a Trump Abortion Ban

MAGAs are planning for a possible Harris win, remember that last time Trump lost he encouraged his followers to try and overthrow the US government? 🇺🇸 Before Election Day has even arrived, the “Stop the Steal” movement has reemerged in force, with some of the same activists who tried to overturn former President Donald Trump’s 2020 loss outlining a step-by-step guide to undermine the results if he loses again.
