#NowPlaying Nurse With Wound - "Angry Eelectric Finger"
A set of collaborations where NWW produced an album which 3 invited guests, Jim O'Rourke, Cyclobe, and irr. app. ext. were invited to remix and reinvent. The results were... extremely gratifying.

@aae9acbb I had a lot of that at school, although I wasn't diagnosed as on the spectrum till a couple of years ago. I sympathise with anyone who just wants to *get away* from all the overstimulation for a few minutes.
#NowPlaying Fatboy Slim - "Better Living Through Chemistry"
My favourite FBS album, although "You've Come A Long Way Baby" is a strong challenger.
But yes, everybody needs a 303.

#NowPlaying Indian Ropeman - "Elephant Sound"
Haven't listened to this in a decade, probably. It's pretty good at what it does though, which is FatBoy Slim-style Big Beat.

I remember a wise Canadian friend of mine saying that there were 2 kinds of people in the world - those that loved "On The Road" and those that loved "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas". I'm very definitely in the latter group.
Just announcing to the whole wide world. If anyone wants to employ me to teach them English, I'm game, whatever your level, but you'll have to be quick, I'm running out of time slots.
And another favourite opening line.
"You are about to begin reading Italo Calvino's new novel, If on a winter's night a traveller. Relax. Concentrate. Dispel every other thought. Let the world around you fade. Best to close the door; the TV is always on in the next room. Tell the others right away, "No, I don't want to watch TV!"
Favourite opening lines of books.
“Into the face of the young man who sat on the terrace of the Hotel Magnifique at Cannes there had crept a look of furtive shame, the shifty hangdog look which announces that an Englishman is about to speak French.”
@dc87953e It's inherent in the meaning of "include" - "comprise a part of a whole".
E.g. "…Mastering the Internet' (MTI) project, which includes the development of technology to track emails and telephone calls in the UK". That suggests that there is more to the project than the development - there are other parts of the project too.
Does that make sense?
#AmEditing NO, just NO!!!!
"including among others"
Absolutely unacceptable, I do wish Poles would stop adding "among others" to every single thing.
You also can't imagine how hard it is for me not to swear loud and long every time it happens.
@a1dedbb4 Thank you so much. I'm literally (figuratively) mortified. But at least I could turn up for half the lesson, which was something, I guess. The student was very nice about it. And so were the school. Just as long as it doesn't happen too often. It's not going to happen to me for a long while, I hope!
Arrrgh. I fucked up. Hadn't realised, despite the fact it's written in black and white, that I had another class today. I'd totally forgotten about it. Massively unprofessional. I shall now worry about it for the next 10 years.
#NowPlaying Emil Kusturica & The No Smoking Orchestra - "Black Cat, White Cat OST"
If you haven't seen this film, I thoroughly recommend it. Utterly crazy, and filmed in about 4 different languages. And the music is incredible.

#NowPlaying Pad Brapad - "Ben Hora"
This is a fantastic track, and we were lucky enough to see this band live in Kraków - urban gypsy, for want of a better term.

#NowPlaying Various Artists - "Béla Bartók - String Quartet No. 4"
I have 7 different versions of this quartet, which is my favourite of Bartók's, and they all offer insight into the piece. I particularly love the IV and V movements. Amazing, coruscating music.

#NowPlaying Nurse With Wound - "Ostranenie 1913"
One of my favourite NWW albums. Ostranenie, or Defamiliarisation, is an artistic technique of placing everyday objects in strange contexts to look at them anew.

@39a1a8da I wish I knew precisely. It's a thing that's been floating around the Polish internet for years. From what I've been able to ascertain, it was made for Polish pilots in WWII to give their position. I've only ever seen SE England.
