Interesting thread on faraday pouch testing to completely hide your phone from cell towers, which can triangulate you even when your phone is off:

 Do any of them work?
 +1
The thread goes into this. Apparently the mission darkness ones are quite good.
 🙏
98db is very impressive, and coming from Matt Blaze, I trust that it's legit.

I can only see the tweet you linked to and not the whole thread. Not sure if that's true for everyone who doesn't have an account on X or just me.

We need to get Matt on Nostr or ActivityPub or any site that doesn't muck around with the ability to see a thread of posts.
 Anyone a uses a #missiondarkness things stuff what is review of a it you like? #opsec #privacy #faraday #asknostr #stealth

I reckon theres a mkt for jeans/pants with faraday pockets/sleeves
 would buy this
 Yeah me too!
i think they developed a clothing line to help activists hide from facial recognition technology
 nice
You can add infrared lights to the bill of a hat so that it blinds cameras but isn’t visible to the naked eye. There are videos online where people show off a proof of concept, but I’m not sure there’s enough of a market to justify a whole line though.
We need one that fits entire cars now. The amount of surveillance tech that comes standard in vehicles today is borderline criminal.
just gotta avoid buying shitcoin vehicles
@ChipTuner mentions 2014 and earlier are not guaranteed to have telemetry
Depends on the MFG for sure. Ill have to find the bill for yall when I have time
You need to drive an old car!

And new cars should not have all this shit.

That is the main Solition.

Same on Phones, first you need a trusted device, than you can add a shield.

You can drive an old Car but i know no Smartphone i fully suggest.

I would suggest to use a mobile pc instead, but this is not comfortable, because of this i use a Google Pixel with Graphene OS and use flightmode but WLAN on.
Can the pants mesh network to other pants in a tor like fashion so I can still get texts?
 😂
 this should be in nostr
its on the internet, its the second best we can do
 true…
its really easy to hide cellphone from towers, the problem is that then it become a useless brick or a desktop-like mini device to connect to usb tethering to connect to the internet... nothing that fulfill the feature of a smartphone without being tracked... and thats because smartphones are tracking devices.
I've been using a faraday bag for my phone everyday for over the last year. I can say it can still be used if you download the content first and you have a pair of wired earphones/headphones. The cell connections will be blocked and you'll still be able to consume content. There are also bags that have a small opening to access the screen. Altough I think this defeats the purpose of the farday cage.
but, at this point, just use a old thinkpad and take out all the antennas and the wifi card... just use a device that is not designed to track
I agree, but the thinkerpad is probably more combersome. I can go anywhere with my faraday bag (wich fits in my pocket)
I have one of these and my phone shows 0 bars/cellular connection when I take it out. https://slnt.com/collections/faraday-phone-sleeves/products/faraday-cage-sleeves-for-phones?variant=18335582978145
Triangulate when the phone is off? Bullshit.
No because you can't make sure that the phone is of without removing the batteries which are glued in between sheets of glass..

Furthermore it could be remotely turned on again.
So the towers can triangulate you even when your phone is turned off, only if it’s not ACTUALLY turned off. I am understanding this correctly?
Yes. It might not actually be turned off even if the screen is „black“.
Additionally, take a look into apples find my network and googles equivalent.
What about it? Are you suggesting that Apple devices are en masse not fully turning off, for the sake of “Find my iPhone”?
I think there is conceptual “off” and then there is physically “off”. I guess the insinuation is that concept “off” may just be the device placed into a very low power mode.
….even iPhone has a mode where it appears “off” but is still locatable using the Find My iPhone feature.
I'd like to see more information about that, too.

Seems unlikely, as communicating on the cellular network takes quite a bit of energy. So even if "off" is really "low power mode", I'd like to see some experiments that verify what's happening.

This is one of the reasons why the older phones or few available current models with removable batteries may be valuable.
It's legit and baked into all BLE (Bluetooth low energy) device hardware.
The tinfoil hat that actually works.
I actually developed a way to avoid this without using a pouch. Leave your phone at home... 🤪
what is the point if you gonna remove it from that faraday bag in order to use it
bag only opened when away from home. phone never knows where you live
Going to take your advice about not holding my phone outside and clearly no one I call will help me. So it's pointless.
Worked yesterday not carrying phone outside. Having to walk by sheriff's dept now because of Ocala PD's non stop bullying.
This is my faraday bag i use to hide my passport and id and another one for my cellphone. Korean POWER via ice cream!
