It's a bit of a turnoff that many people who advocate for carnivore diet and healthy lifestyle are selling or marketing dietary supplements. Joe Rogan, Mikhaila Peterson and Paul Saladino come to mind. Apparently it's a scalable money-making machine for famous people. Supplements are also not natural, necessary or good for your stack of sats. They should just sell t-shirts or join Nostr for zaps instead.
Yep supplements are for chumps, stack sats
I mean, when you exclude fruits and veggies from your diet you also exclude many vitamins and minerals, supps are kinda necessary, atleast i think they are, i'm not an expert
Meat usually has much more vitamins and minerals per gram than fruits and/or vegetables. Fruits and vegetables are mainly just water.
Last I checked meat didn’t have vitamin C, and we cannot metabolize it either. 🐶🐾🫡
yes, meat has vitamin C. So does milk, especially sheep and goat but cow to a lesser extent. put it this way, right now i mainly consume milk, and maybe a litre of beer, and a couple cups of coffee. The beer is taxing my immune system, as is the coffee, and the associated sleep disruptions. But in recent times I have had neither other for as long as a week and zero problems that i can connect to vitamin C deficiency, and that's just UHT cow milk. Fresh meat and raw milk are far more rich in it. Carbs without an excess of antioxidants is toxic in other ways than respiratory health.
Depends on where the milk is purchased or sourced. Also it it’s boiled/pasteurized, or maybe artificially infused (like some brands in US) 🐶🐾🫡
Meat does indeed have vitamin C, as well as other vitamins. A good example to remember were the expeditions to the polar regions, the men got scurvy if they ran out of fresh seal and penguin meat and they recovered once they resumed eating it.
That’s true, but food preparation played a huge role in retention of it. High temperatures and prolonged storage, reduces its amount. And it also has a half-life of 16-40 days (I think) Also it will depend on how the “meat” was raised and where, and what parts. Hence the recommendation is to get it from fresh vegetables and fruits. To keep scurvy away you only need 10mg of daily intake and that can be absorbed from the meat you consume, but for adult you’ll need to have 5 times more than that (varies on your sex and body mass too). I shouldn’t have made a blanket statement, because there are many variables in that and it is not a simple answer 🐶🐾🫡
It's really hard to get scurvy nowadays 😅 I think you need to want it to get it, idk.
Indeed, but there are other benefits to have sufficient VC 🐶🐾🫂🫡
Your laboratory or your learning skills seems to be very bad. In fact, when eating a carnivore diet of at least 1000 grams (2.2lbs) of fresh muscle meat alone, you will exceed the amount of vitamin C you need to prevent scurvy (vitamin c deficiency).
First hit on Google with no reputable citations is hardly a great research 🐶🐾🤣🤣🤣 https://www.doctorkiltz.com/vitamin-c-on-carnivore-diet/#:~:text=In%20fact%2C%20when%20eating%20a,of%20organ%20meats%20and%20seafood.
100 % true. These ‚What diet is best for you‘ articles are often fiat-garbage imo. I studied chemistry and biology, I tried to double check as far as I am able to and I currently think it is a true fact I could verify: Meat in general has much much more vitamins, minerals and nutrients per gram. So when it is about adequate supply of nutrients meat is the way to go. Nevertheless everyone should eat what they want.
All good, I have no steak in this (no pun intended) 🐶🐾🫂🤣
one question, how is your digestion on carnivore diet? does it take a while to adjust? i tend to get catastrophic farts when eating mostly meat and eggs and increasing protein intake, and shits get a lot less regular, similar thing happens to me when eating cereal/wheat products/whole grain foods though
Surprisingly much better compared to my years as vegetarian. Increase the amount of butter you eat together with meat products or consume more fatty meat.
Ya. That's not even remotely true.
It is. I studied that shit and you can too. Start by researching lists of food with highest minerals vitamins etc. per gram. There is mainly meat on this lists. Meat is always top 1-3. Fruits and veggies most of the time no even existing in that range. Sometimes nuts are on place 9 or 10. Eat what you want but don‘t spread bullshit.
Then why are the carnivore ‘gurus’ selling supplements?
Scammers? 🤷🏼 I see more vegetarians eating pills than meat eaters. In my traveling I saw no carnivore every taking supplements. But all vegans have to take care of that.
Vitamins can cause cancer.
Life can cause cancer.
You are cancer.
Come on, mom. Don’t embarrass me in front of the jews. Everybody knows you’re the son of cancer. They think you’re cool.
You can either get busy living or get busy dying. It is what it is. You can’t escape it. https://i.nostrimg.com/1cfc40acaba43546e605e86da46fa1dca1dc13c0f81b845d94e9242a9a058eb1/file.jpeg
When you exclude sugars and starches you have less oxidative free radicals. They are not absent from meat and dairy, just literally not needed in so great quantity. I'd rather not take a chelator to reduce my lead intake if I can just change my diet to not include lead tainted things. Unfortunately, btw, that includes many sources of cacao fat, still. Most people don't even realize petroleum ethers are used and in poor countries, leaded gasoline. Not true, of course, of raw cacao nibs. All chocolate and cacao powders are likely to have trace lead. I don't know how much but it's been normal since the inception of the isolated cacao fat used to mix back with the defatted powder and wilk powder and sugar.
(90% of ) supplements are just a way to get expensive urine.
And cancer. Vitamins can cause cancer.
Some of Saladino's products 😬 https://image.nostr.build/43b7094dd815c268c1097aee4b03217ea04a04f8463d59580080c1e2dc126ed8.png
Idk if I'd consider Saladinos products supplements since they are just organs that people wouldn't eat normally. When people go carnivore they need to include organs otherwise youll be missing a lot of micro nutrients. They are pricey but I doubt most people are going to eat raw heart and liver
I've been carnivore for 3 months and I don't buy any of that bs, I have liver every month or so but I don't even think I need it to get the vitamins I need(eating normally not supplementing). they do it for money bc they're sponsored and you should just ignore it :)
Totally agree! I cringe every time I hear about powdered greens or whatever. Actually all adds within any podcasts or videos I watch.. https://image.nostr.build/5ae1e2baf066deb54edff914c72263452ada980c055a4b4c263ccd887719e609.jpg
