Ya phoenix fees have been steep. @OpenSecret just implemented dynamic fees for opening a new channel which worked well for me recently. bit of patience and got a new channel opened for about ~7k sats. I assume Phoenix will be revising their fee rate strategy, 50k to open a channel hurts.
