Oddbean new post about login | logout To be clear. There’s nothing wrong with an enthusiastic bitcoiner community on nostr. In fact it’s really important to sustaining nostr. What I’m saying is we need to make it easy for other kinds of communities to and find their space. Some people care about knitting or Brazilian Jitsu, coffee, or drag, or tons of other things. Think of all the subreddits. Right now you join and see mostly people talking about bitcoin. We don’t make it easy to find the other people and content. The communities features help. Getting more kinds of content helps. Working on discovery helps. Making tools for enabling folks to enforce community boundaries helps like ability to opt in to shared mute / follow / content warnings. And some kind of algorithms for finding and recommending content and people. We can solve this.

Please talk about Bitcoin, we know Nostr is currently the social media of bitcoiners and I came here thinking about pro onboarding tips, money debates, news about the actual code, raw brutal mining videos. but I mostly find memes and random stuff, maybe its just me so show them to me so I can follow these Bitcoin people who are making all that Bitcoin content that is making Nostr struggling in its battle against a client with a central server which is total nonsense to me and I'm not technical but Nostr is a protocol, a technology that magically works like a decentralized server that nobody owns so why you compare it with a single client with a central server while devs are building a decentralized eBay on Nostr? if I wanted memes and shitposts I wouldn't be here, and sorry if it sound rude I don't mean it.
