Someone needs to create a website with a list of paid relays and their prices and other information. I see comments asking "where can i find a list of paid relays and their prices" but there isn't a list. That's the biggest issue why people are not using paid relays. I've only found one site with a relay list but it's messy & hard to navigate and has too much information that the average person doesn't need. I didn't even see the relay prices on that list. I probably can only name 3 paid relays and the only reason I know about them is because I saw them in the comments. If there was a list with prices I'm sure more would be using paid relays. I just saw a note posted about a relay that only cost 21sats. That's so cheap. I've been on nostr a long time and keep seeing requests for a list of paid relays. Should I make one? My PHP programming skills are basic but it might be useful until someone makes an actual site. I think most users don't care about the technical information about the relays. They just want a spam free relay. #relays #paidrelays #nostr

Maybe not, but pings are important to understanding whether that relay is worth you time. UX could be improved by way of an icon style rating system of some sort of the end user. I'm wondering though how you'd query from a web server for their pricing info.

The UX definitely needs fine tuning. He said so himself that he was learning to programming so that's the main reason. Depends on software they use but some use NIP-11 so you can use python and query the relay by sending it a simple HTTP GET request. Or just go old fashion and let the administrator sign into an account on your website and let him enter his relays information and price. Many ways.

Any ideas as to why the latency is so high with these relays? I work in the enterprise software space where anything higher than 250ms for a REST endpoint is an absolute no go, yet these relays are running over websockets which should inherently be lower latency. 🤔

From what I understand is nostr relays are REST APIs which are different than endpoints. The latency depends on what's on the sever. I'd say most relays are not running just a relay alone on the server, other factors like sever location, sever load. I'd say the lowest ones are the closest to your client or the relays has no traffic or other factors.

That's the site I was talking about. It's messy, confusing and doesn't tell you the prices. For some reason his list has hundreds of relays on the first page which slows things down. I mentioned it to the web dev but he got upset.

Yes you got upset. You accused me of attacking you right after the first message. The evidence is in the screenshot shot you posted. I posted that screenshot too several weeks ago. You took such offense to me saying that the website was slow and you quickly jumped and said I was attacking you when I simply stated that the website was slow and why would you put so many things on the front page. You then told me to start my own website when I'm not even a web developer. You quickly jumped to conclusions. I don't know where you got that attention screenshot. That screenshot wasn't posted after my comment. I've never seen that before. You having to post that attention screenshot obviously means I'm not the first one criticizing your website and you are probably angry everyday form people criticizing your website. You take out your anger on people who just want to give suggestions. I think you should take anger management because being a developer means you will receive criticism from others. That was my reason for calling you a cry baby because all I did was give a suggestion on your website and you attacked me to the point of wanting to fight me.

And I wasn't upset btw, but I am now. My response to you was pretty standard for someone dealing with someone they don't know being rude and making demands of them like an entitled little brat. Have you considered that you're projecting? Maybe instead of flaming people foor doing things, you should produce something of value yourself.
