I also think its important to build bridges rather than camp as "left" or "right".

 There are plenty of people on both left and right who hate and fear free markets. 

 Indeed! I've come across people on the anarcho right who posit the argument that #freemarkets always dissolve into #plutocracy and who advocate, independent survival as the only libertarian idea.

I've come across people on the anarcho left who advocate eating the processed meat of dead relatives to combat carbon emissions.

I've come across Nihilists who think the #human race is doomed and the next phase of evolution moves on without us.

We have to build a very big Overton Window, one that allows all these edge case views to come in. That's real #freespeech.  

Gathering tightly around #Trump or #Harris is a long way from real free speech. 

 Agreed and more broadly there needs to be more ways the two groups can communicate without being fired up with rage bait.

Will take a bit of work though, a lot of folks will see Nostr as a hard no at this point. I try to keep an open mind, I know I have a left wing bias and I’m very socially liberal. Trying to find solutions in a world thats clearly fucked!

I find #Gab the most irritating of all the #socialnetworks because they're the biggest hypocrites.

They spout #freespeech  slogans and then they ban people for linking to #Mastodon and blaspheming.

I didn't quite believe these claims myself, but I tested it and my account was suspended. They don't want free speech. They want Andrew's law. 

 gab and @a is quite clear they are building a Christian parallel.  Freedom under law, like the original us of a.  You certainly don't get to just say anything back when 1a was written lol 

 There is only one definition of free speech. You can say what you like. If you can't blaspheme you don't have freedom. It's that simple. 

You can't speak freely until you can think freely and you can't think freely if you're told what to think. What Gab offers is the same thing Xi offers China. My way or the highway. That's a dictatorship.

Saying you believe in free speech and then telling people what they can say is hypocrisy.

More importantly, while Andrew controls Gab he can control what people say. Relying on his indulgence is not real freedom. It's the freedom of a surf.

If he said this is Christian network where we indoctrinate people in the one true religion, I'd have no issue with him. It's the lies that irritate me.

 I don't mind hearing opposing viewpoints, but when people start with or devolve into rage-baiting each other, I can't take any of it seriously anymore. 

I'm fatigued by it. Sorting through it on X to find better stuff to respond to is also fatiguing because of the current state of their algorithm. 

Besides my current mute list on X, I'm now considering muting all things political and related to all types of rage bait, even at the expense of not getting the news. That's how bad it's gotten on social media. 

People need to relearn how to have discussions and civilly argue again. 

Many young people need to see what that looks like, modeled in real-time, to see how it works.
